The Female Lead Decides to Act Wickedly

Actually, even if there were a change in casting, with Director Feng’s credentials and He Tiantian being a ”newcomer,” there’s really no need for a special notification.

Let’s forget they didn’t have a contract to begin with; even if they did, it would just be someone below sending a message.

Not Director Feng coming forward personally.

In just a few seconds, numerous guesses popped up in He Tiantian’s mind.

However, she didn’t delay, paused briefly, then answered the phone.

”Director Feng, Happy New Year!”

As soon as she pressed the answer button, He Tiantian warmly greeted.

”Haha! Happy New Year!”

Director Feng laughed heartily and quickly got to the point, ”I heard from Manager Seo that you’ve come to Capital City? Are you still in Capital City now?”

Director Feng deliberately asked something he already knew.

”Yes, Director Feng, do you have something in mind? Is it about the movie—”

He Tiantian tentatively asked.

”You’re in the Capital City, haha, that’s great!”

Director Feng seemed genuinely pleased and continued with a laugh, ”Here’s the thing, the writer and I have polished the script some more, and your role has undergone some changes.”

”If it’s convenient for you, we could set a time to discuss the script thoroughly!”

He Tiantian was slightly startled; Director Feng suddenly became very polite.

Oh no, it’s not just politeness anymore; it’s somewhat flattering.

What’s going on with him?

Could he have heard any rumors?

That shouldn’t be the case.

Although Director Feng is famous, he is merely mingling within the entertainment industry.

The ones aware of He Tiantian’s value are the Chinese Academy of Sciences and a few other key departments.

Especially since He Tiantian submitted the technology for Genetic Enhancement Liquid 2.0, her identity is classified as top-secret.

Even if Director Feng has some connections in Capital City, there’s no way he could know about this.

He Tiantian’s pause was felt by Director Feng on the other end.

He seeming unaware, laughed and said, ”I just knew you were in Capital City; yesterday, I went to Court TV to watch the Spring Festival Gala and saw a person whose back looked a lot like yours, Tiantian; was it you?!”

The last few words clearly carried a probing tone.

So that’s it!

What a sly old fox.

No wonder Director Feng can make it big in Capital City and thrive in the entertainment industry.

Besides his talent, it mostly comes down to his cleverness.

Only a ”back view” alerted Director Feng that He Tiantian must have some sort of background.

Later, he just needed to call Seo Junru, Zhou Zixuen’s mother, to find out that He Tiantian attended Capital University’s winter camp.

Live attendance at the Spring Festival Gala + Capital University winter camp.

Even if He Tiantian isn’t a bigwig, she certainly has sufficient connections.

Nowadays, so many stars are in trouble in the entertainment industry; not only do public standards keep dropping, but even directors and financiers are apprehensive when choosing actors.

Signing contracts and increasing breach penalties don’t prevent trouble; during casting, they’re practically desperate to use magnifying glasses and lie detectors.

Legal troubles are the most frightening, but people with moral flaws, once mistakenly used, can also lead to disaster—

The works that everyone invested money and energy into filming might not pass approval because of one person or be taken down even after approval.

Tsk tsk, these losses genuinely aren’t offset by the penalty fees of tainted artists.

But, if the chosen actor is positive enough and has certain ”connections,” it greatly aids their works.

Director Feng is likely betting that He Tiantian might have official backing, which makes him place particular importance on her.

Perhaps, to get He Tiantian to sign, he might even alter the script and add scenes!

Oh, right, he already mentioned it earlier that he and the writer re-polished the script and invited He Tiantian to discuss it.

He Tiantian felt a bit complex, not knowing whether to be happy about her dream of entering the film industry potentially coming true or to worry about Director Feng’s utilitarian motives.

After hesitating for a moment, He Tiantian suddenly smiled.

Why overthink?

It’s a good thing as long as it fulfills her small wish.

”I don’t know if the person you saw was me, but I did attend the Spring Festival Gala yesterday!”

He Tiantian indirectly confirmed and then said, ”I’ll be in Capital City for a while and generally available.”

”Once you set the time, I can come over anytime!”

Director Feng lowered his demeanor, so He Tiantian wouldn’t be overly arrogant.

That’s how people are, reciprocating each other.

If someone shows you respect, you should give respect back; otherwise, you’re stirring hostility.

He Tiantian surely wouldn’t do such a foolish thing.

Moreover, although Director Feng might be somewhat utilitarian, he’s still within an appropriate range.

He Tiantian isn’t a deity; she can’t expect everyone to be a moral exemplar...
