The Female Lead Decides to Act Wickedly

”Hello, classmate, could you please help me call Zhao Yan from dorm 309?”

He Tiantian was standing downstairs of the girls’ dorm building, stopping Yan Yan who had just come back from outside, and asked gently.

Yan Yan froze for a second and looked He Tiantian up and down. ”...You are?”

Judging by age, she looked to be not yet forty;

Judging by looks, um, she really did resemble Zhao Yan a bit.

Could this be one of Zhao Yan’s relatives?

It never crossed Yan Yan’s mind to associate He Tiantian with ”Zhao Yan’s real mother”, because with how He Tiantian looked, she was more like Zhao Yan’s younger aunt, little aunt, or even older sister, definitely not her mom.

Not that the mother and daughter didn’t look alike, but the age gap just didn’t look big enough for them to be mother and daughter.

”I’m Zhao Yan’s mom!”

He Tiantian gave a gentle, graceful smile. Her temperament was far more refreshing than her delicate features.

Oh my god, this—this older sister, no, this auntie’s aura is way too good.

This was exactly what people meant by gentle and virtuous, by having that classic traditional Eastern charm; it was all on full display in her.

The little person inside Yan Yan’s heart couldn’t help howling with excitement, and her eyes couldn’t help but shoot out biu-biu sparkles!

”Okay, A–Auntie, please wait a sec!”

Faced with such a super classy beauty, Yan Yan almost couldn’t bring herself to use the obviously age-revealing address of ”Auntie”.

She stuttered a bit, then her little face flushed with embarrassment. After agreeing, she hurriedly ran into the girls’ dorm.

”Yanyan! Xiao Yanzi! Princess Huanzhu, your Imperial Mother is looking for you!”

As soon as she pushed open the door of dorm 309, Yan Yan shouted excitedly.

Zhao Yan: ...(⊙_⊙)?

What on earth has gotten into Yan Yan?

Why is she this hyped up?

And what’s with those starstruck eyes of hers?

”Yanyan, what are you spacing out for? Didn’t you hear what Yan Yan said? Your mom is here to see you!”

On the other side, Xu Chunlei saw that Zhao Yan didn’t respond, and quickly reminded her with a smile.

”Oh!”

Zhao Yan finally reacted, grabbed her phone and plugged in the charger, muttering, ”It was only out of battery and shut down for a tiny bit, and my mom just—”

Zhao Yan nimbly jumped down from the bed, grabbed a jacket and threw it over her loungewear, slipped on her shoes and ran out.

She had just stepped out of the dorm when she heard Yan Yan excitedly sharing with the other roommates: ”Our Yanyan’s Empress Dowager, tsk tsk, I really don’t even know how to describe her!”

Zhao Yan couldn’t help stopping in her tracks, took a few steps back, and pretended to adjust her shoes while taking the chance to eavesdrop.

So, lately, because she had a professor stepfather, and she herself was fitting in well in A University’s family housing compound,

the inferiority and certain shortcomings in her heart seemed to have been filled to the greatest extent.

But that kind of personality flaw can’t be healed in a short time.

Deep down, Zhao Yan still cared a lot about what others thought.

Hearing Yan Yan bring up her real mother, Zhao Yan wanted to know how they talked about her behind her back.

Yan Yan probably wouldn’t badmouth Mom, but—

Zhao Yan suppressed her anxiety, perked up her ears, and listened hard.

She then heard Yan Yan continue, like a little fangirl, saying fervently: ”Her aura is just unbelievable!”

Aura?

Hearing that Yan Yan wasn’t criticizing her mom, but instead praising her temperament in such a respectful tone,

the heart Zhao Yan had been holding up finally loosened a little.

To be fair, Mom really had changed a lot in the past few months.

Maybe it was because she no longer worked under the sun and wind, no longer did heavy physical labor, and could finally eat well, drink well, and take proper care of herself; her whole complexion had lightened and her skin had improved.

Her delicate features now stood out, and she looked several years younger overall.

The key was that kind of aura—gentle, serene, completely non-aggressive, soft like water, mild like moonlight. Anyone who interacted with her would feel as if bathed in a spring breeze, comfortable and at ease.

Even Qiao Jianan, who had been somewhat repulsed by ”He Xiutian”, had gradually accepted her and started showing her goodwill.

Well, the reason Qiao Jianan would ”reject” He Tiantian, aside from worrying that she might have ulterior motives, was mostly because she felt that a rural woman who hadn’t even finished primary school was totally unworthy of her professor dad.

No education, rough looks, a whole body of low-class vibes... Someone like that, by the side of the dignified Professor Qiao Zhenbang of A University, was just downright embarrassing.

Qiao Jianan was a proud woman to begin with, and she had an inexplicable sense of superiority and endless pride in her highly educated family.
