The Female Lead Decides to Act Wickedly

He Tiantian, who had been sitting quietly in the upper seat, finally moved. She softly uttered a sentence: ”Enough, Ah Wu, stop talking!”

Nanny Song heard the wrong tone in her master’s voice, and her heart jumped to her throat.

She rushed to see the Empress Dowager, whispering comfort: ”Your Majesty, falsehood cannot become truth, and truth cannot become falsehood! No one knows the facts better than this old servant. I will certainly interrogate this treacherous maid thoroughly!”

He Tiantian slowly shook her head.

Nanny Song opened her mouth, wanting to say something more, but ultimately submitted to her duty, not going against her master’s wishes.

He Tiantian stopped Nanny Song, her gaze sweeping across the attending court officials and female guests, taking a long tour before finally resting on Emperor Yongcheng.

”Emperor, what do you think?”

He Tiantian’s intention was clear. She cared not for what that Ah Bi was babbling, nor how others regarded it.

She only wanted to know Emperor Yongcheng’s opinion now.

Several old foxes like Wang Yuan lowered their eyelids, concealing the flashes of brilliance in their eyes.

Feng Shou was anxious to the point of panic, truly fearing the Emperor Yongcheng might ruin himself.

He remembered the late Emperor’s dying admonitions fondly and treasured the past decade of teacher-student bonds, genuinely unwilling to see Emperor Yongcheng and Empress Dowager He sever their mother-son relationship.

”Cough! Cough cough!”

Feng Shou frantically signaled Emperor Yongcheng with his eyes, but the latter feigned ignorance.

In desperation, Feng Shou began coughing on purpose.

Then Emperor Yongcheng simply turned his head away.

Feng Shou: ...Damn it, if not for the debt to you and your father, I wouldn’t bloody care about you.

He Tiantian did not glance at Feng Shou’s anxious appearance but instead fixed her gaze firmly on Emperor Yongcheng.

Emperor Yongcheng felt guilty but was more eager to shake off the heavy burden of ”Empress Dowager He.”

He dodged He Tiantian’s gaze, murmuring: ”Where there’s smoke, there’s fire. This Ah Bi doesn’t seem to be pretending!”

So he would rather believe a stranger who appeared out of nowhere than trust his own mother?

”Ha ha! Hahaha!”

He Tiantian remained silent for a long time and suddenly burst into laughter.

As she laughed, a stream of tears fell from the corners of her eyes.

Though it was laughter, everyone present felt a chill in their hearts.

And the loyal servant Nanny Song couldn’t help feeling heartache, her gaze toward the Emperor was filled with accusation—

Others can be disregarded, but how could you, as a son, hurt Her Majesty’s heart so?

Over the years, apart from not taking care of you personally, where has Her Majesty failed you?

Doing her utmost to protect you, worrying endlessly for your plans, presenting the best the world has to offer before you.

Time and again you defied, Empress Dowager has passed out from anger, yet she never held it against you.

Cursing aloud, yet secretly concerned, regardless of how absurd or willful your requests, Empress Dowager always ultimately consented!

...Such a mother, yet you doubt she’s your real mother?

Ha!

Let’s say, not afraid of taboos, for a heartless brat like you, if not your true mother, who would treat you like this?

Suddenly, Nanny Song understood Empress Dowager He.

She felt a deep sense of self-blame and guilt—

Oh, she was foolish!

When she’d seen Her Majesty suddenly ”let go” of the little Emperor, Nanny Song even advised her not to hold things against a child in mind!

Now, witnessing the little Emperor’s heartlessness firsthand, Nanny Song finally grasped her master’s despair and sorrow!

This child has been utterly misled.

He not only shows no filial piety toward Empress Dowager, his true mother, but instead regards her as a stumbling block, an enemy.

Nanny Song is not a mere servant. Having been by Empress Dowager He’s side for many years, she has seen much palace intrigue and has weathered endless storms.

When the late Emperor faced off with Empress Dowager He, Nanny Song was one of the closest witnesses.

Thus, she has cultivated a pair of piercing old eyes.

In the past, unable to discern the little Emperor’s true nature was purely due to being amidst the plot, unwilling to see her young master in a bad light.

Now on the opposite side, Nanny Song can see many truths clearly.

An old woman like Ah Bi could run here to beat the Dengwen Drum, and even have the Emperor demand an ”investigation” regardless of the occasion.

If anyone said the Emperor had no hand in this, Nanny Song wouldn’t believe it even under penalty of death.

Faced with Empress Dowager He’s questioning, the Emperor’s evasive eyes, his entire demeanor reeking of guilt, Nanny Song saw exceptionally clearly.

...The farce before her eyes isn’t merely somewhat related to the Emperor; it’s clearly, explicitly orchestrated by him!
