The Female Lead Decides to Act Wickedly

”Your Majesty, according to tradition, the court examination is held every three years. The last examination was only conducted the year before last. The next one would need to wait until the end of this year!”

Feng Shou tried to adjust his breathing, not wanting to immediately scold Emperor Yongcheng for being ”inappropriate.”

He attempted to reason with Emperor Yongcheng in a gentle tone.

However, just as he started, Emperor Yongcheng’s smile turned cold, ”Sir, during the last examination, I had not yet assumed power!”

The implication was that now he had assumed power, he wanted to hold a court examination as a ”celebration.” Was that not possible?

Ordinary merchants, when a new owner takes charge, will conduct an audit and examine the staff at the shop.

I am the Emperor, am I less than these merchants?

Feng Shou:... This reasoning truly chokes a person.

”Your Majesty, the court examination is not child’s play. The old traditions of the court should not be easily broken!”

An Emperor should uphold the principle of ”making no changes in the first three years after assuming power.”

This is not only to show filial piety but also to maintain the stability of the Imperial court.

Although the late Emperor has passed away for several years, the three-year period has long since expired.

But as a young ruler, Emperor Yongcheng has just assumed power this year. It is not wise to implement too many or too significant reforms.

Firstly, he is young and lacks experience; he needs to learn about the affairs of state.

Secondly, he lacks authority; even if reforms are made, they cannot be effectively implemented.

The recent salt administration reform is just an example.

Now, Emperor Yongcheng wants to directly cause a major upheaval in the Imperial court.

Tsk-tsk, it won’t just set the noble families off; even those officials from poor families with military merit can’t endure Emperor Yongcheng’s capriciousness and are unwilling to let him mess things up!

”Old traditions? Old traditions? It’s always the old traditions!”

Emperor Yongcheng was annoyed and no longer controlled his emotions, shouting impatiently: ”When Father Emperor was in power, there was no Bowen Academy, no Salt Administration Bureau!”

Moreover, there were no women in office, attending court!

These new ideas, aren’t they all brought out by Empress Dowager He now?

Oh, it’s the same ”breaking old traditions,” Empress Dowager He as a woman can do it.

Yet as the supreme Emperor of the Dayuan Empire, he can’t?

What kind of reasoning is this?!

Emperor Yongcheng was secretly resentful, his heart full of rage on the edge of exploding.

Feng Shou felt he could no longer be mentally exhausted; the little Emperor in front of him was truly disappointing.

Moreover, Feng Shou realized today that the Emperor wasn’t reforming for reform’s sake; he was purely competing against Empress Dowager He, venting his anger!

Fighting out of spite, acting recklessly, this is really not what a qualified King should be like.

Being an Emperor requires understanding endurance, understanding weighing the pros and cons.

Even if someone is the person you dislike the most, as long as they are valuable to the country and the people, and to your rule, an Emperor will tolerate and even give them significant responsibilities.

Even the late Emperor, despite his apprehensions about the He Family and dislike for Empress Dowager He, and the couple almost tearing each other apart.

Yet in public, the late Emperor could still show respect to the Empress, never publicly humiliating her.

And several senior courtiers left from the Previous Dynasty, self-proclaimed loyalists, were actually more concerned about their reputation.

They often took a stance of making fearless remarks, daily considering it an honor to scold the late Emperor, with their spit almost splashing him in the face.

The late Emperor did wish to rid of these villains multiple times but chose to tolerate them, elevating them to the divine altar of loyal and virtuous officials.

He wasn’t without anger or resentment but prioritized his reputation and the stability of the country and people!

Therefore, as an Emperor, one cannot act wilfully.

And certainly not indulge in the antics like Emperor Yongcheng!

”Your Majesty, these are different matters!”

Although disappointed, Feng Shou hadn’t completely given up and continued to persuade him with kind words.

However, Emperor Yongcheng wouldn’t listen.

Eventually, he reiterated ”I” commanding Feng Shou to ”withdraw.”

Feng Shou:... This is the second time!

With a somber expression, he said nothing and left the Imperial Palace directly.

A few days later, Emperor Yongcheng announced two items at the grand court assembly:

First, officials from the Salt Administration Bureau would be examined.

Second, officials of the Dayuan Dynasty would undergo an evaluation from top to bottom.

Court ministers were abuzz with discussions, while Wang Yuan and other noble family old foxes remained unfazed.

”Second round of courting death!”

He Tiantian knew the root cause of the matter the day Feng Shou entered the palace.

She accurately assessed the situation.

However, she had long expected Emperor Yongcheng to continue courting death, so she wasn’t too surprised.

Instead of spending time watching the crazy antics of the barbecue Emperor, she preferred extracting energy from the Wild System.

According to palace rules, on the first and fifteenth of each month, palace concubines return to pay respects to the Empress Dowager.

He Tiantian would use this time to cultivate the Wuji Technique with energy from the Wild System.

And as a consequence of continuous exploitation, the ”sheep” finally realized it.

The Wild System didn’t sense anything unusual with He Tiantian but felt an inexplicable danger from this person.

”Ding! Task issued, overthrow Empress Dowager He. Task completion grants a Bone Marrow Cleansing Pill, which can rejuvenate and renew!”

Zheng Nianer:???!!!
