The Female Lead Decides to Act Wickedly

Chapter 769: Chapter 307: Snatched the Female Lead’s Opportunity (Part 5) _2

Watching her in private, she was so thin it was almost frightening, but on camera, it was just perfect.

Of course, it was 2010, and the entertainment industry’s obsession with actresses’ figures hadn’t yet reached such a disturbing level.

But for a girl who wanted to carve out a niche in show business, figure management was of paramount importance.

Freshly debuted, it’s okay to have a bit of baby fat or a slightly chubby look.

The audience and media tend to be more forgiving towards newcomers.

However, as an excellent agent, Li Xinhua had long-term plans for He Tiantian.

So, from the get-go, figure management was essential; Li Xinhua didn’t want old ”ugly photos” of He Tiantian to surface online once she became famous!

”Okay, Sister Hua!”

He Tiantian nodded obediently, and although the diet plan was somewhat inhumane, she knew that if she wanted to be a star, she had to endure things ordinary people couldn’t.

Besides, it was just about controlling her desires for food. The He Tiantian of last night might have whined and looked pitiful, but today’s He Tiantian felt that not eating those oily and high-calorie foods was no big deal.

She seemed to have gained extraordinary control and clarity overnight.

Li Xinhua:...

She agreed so readily? No negotiation?

Just a couple of days ago, someone was clamoring for fried chicken burgers, and now today, suddenly—

Suspiciously eyeing He Tiantian, Li Xinhua expressed doubt.

He Tiantian quickly nodded emphatically, repeatedly assuring him, ”Don’t worry, Sister Hua, I’ll strictly follow your orders to manage my figure. Just boiling vegetables and controlling sugar and salt intake, right? No problem!”

Li Xinhua grew even more skeptical, but he had other matters to attend to that afternoon and couldn’t keep an eye on He Tiantian forever, so he had to choose to trust her.

”Good, as long as you understand the importance of ’figure management.’”

Li Xinhua said aloud, but he was quietly considering arranging an assistant for He Tiantian once she secured the movie role.

That way, someone could always watch over her!

”Sister Hua, goodbye!”

He Tiantian turned down Li Xinhua’s offer to drive her back to her rented apartment and waved him off with a goodbye.

She watched his car leave and intended to take the subway back to her apartment to catch up on sleep.

But in an impulsive moment, as if possessed, she hailed a taxi and followed the direction Meng Yuyao had gone.

Meng Yuyao hadn’t taken a vehicle, instead walking the entire way.

So even though He Tiantian was delayed by chatting with Li Xinhua, she still managed to get ahead of Meng Yuyao by taxi.

”Yes! This is the place!”

The seductive voice resonated again in her mind.

He Tiantian felt somewhat dazed as she paid the fare and got out of the car.

She found herself on a somewhat secluded path.

Not far from the road was a nursing home.

He Tiantian couldn’t help but wonder, ”This isn’t near A University at all; what is Meng Yuyao doing here?”

If she remembered correctly, Meng Yuyao was a student at A University.

Although A University was in the same area, it was still a twenty-minute walk.

Under normal circumstances, without a specific reason, Meng Yuyao wouldn’t take this route; it’s not on the way.

”The girl is a kind-hearted female lead; she’s here to volunteer at the nursing home!”

The voice in her mind continued, its tone saturated with sarcasm and snideness.

It was as though it utterly disbelieved Meng Yuyao’s intention to volunteer, perhaps viewing her actions as nothing more than a pretense of kindness, fishing for compliments.

He Tiantian slightly frowned, what was this attitude?

She might not be the noblest or most open-hearted individual, but she wasn’t the type to begrudge others’ goodness or deny their excellence.

Why were these messy thoughts intruding?

And why had she actually ended up here?

She clearly hadn’t wanted to come!

He Tiantian grew wary in secret, finding it necessary to hide her true Inner Voice.

”Finally! You’re here!”

As He Tiantian subtly concealed her thoughts, the voice in her sea of consciousness shouted out again.

”See that? Across the street in the flower bed, there’s a little injured black cat. Hurry up and save it!”

Instinctively, He Tiantian thought to refuse, ”No! I don’t like cats; they’re fussy and troublesome.”

He Tiantian wasn’t lying; she really didn’t like pets like cats or dogs.

Wait, what does ”this body” mean? Could there be other bodies?

A shade of darkness fell over He Tiantian’s mind.

However, she didn’t rush to dwell on it but instead quietly tucked the question into the deepest part of her sea of consciousness.
