The Female Lead Decides to Act Wickedly

Chapter 650: Chapter 262 My Mother-in-law is a Loyal Servant (Part 6)_2

Feng Zhongliang’s thoughts inadvertently began to follow He Tiantian’s lead, and he completely forgot his mother’s instructions.

He lifted the hem of his robe, tore open his inner garment, and revealed several silver notes.

This was something Nanny Zhao had instructed him to handle quietly.

Before the Marquis Mansion fell into trouble, rumors had already spread among the public.

Nanny Zhao, before the soldiers from the Capital City surrounded the Marquis Mansion, found Feng Zhongliang and gave him a thorough set of instructions:

”First, sell the shop, house, and farmstead, converting them into gold or silver notes.”

”Dispose of the valuable antiques and cumbersome belongings in the house as well, turning everything into easily portable items.”

”Sew silver notes inside your clothes, and cut the gold and silver into small pieces.”

”Buy a carriage, nothing too eye-catching, preferably one that looks rather worn. Take more clothes, bedding, various medicines, and prepare food and water as well.”

”... If the Marquis Mansion is really confiscated, the family may be escorted to the Capital City, but don’t panic or hurry to follow immediately. Wait until we’ve left South City and are on the official road, then you can rush to catch up with the carriage!”

”Be clever and bribe the soldiers generously. Those are but inanimate objects; people are what matter most. As long as you keep the lady safe, you will have accomplished a great deed!”

Nanny Zhao knew her son was so honest that he bordered on foolishness, so she was meticulous and explicit in her instructions to him.

Of course, the most crucial point Nanny Zhao didn’t forget to mention: ”You can let Mrs. Gu know about everything else, but you must not tell her about the silver notes on your person, nor let her touch them!”

Nanny Zhao wasn’t worried her daughter-in-law might take advantage of the situation.

Her daughter-in-law seemed smart, but in reality, she was foolish.

Timid and weak, the most significant and wildest thing she had ever done in her life was secretly switch her newborn daughter.

Yet even this, Gu Xiuniang managed poorly.

She was exposed far too early and was effortlessly manipulated by Nanny Zhao.

Thus, Nanny Zhao was quite confident she could control her daughter-in-law.

She only instructed her son out of habit—daughters-in-law were outsiders, and family matters were not their place to interfere!

If it had been the real Gu Xiuniang, she might have indeed not dared to meddle with her own husband.

Despite Gu Xiuniang priding herself on being from the esteemed Feng family, she knew very well in her heart.

Her son was a sham, and she simply couldn’t muster the confidence to flaunt power in her in-laws’ house.

Moreover, Gu Xiuniang was also fearful of Nanny Zhao, her mother-in-law. As long as she was around, Gu Xiuniang wouldn’t dare direct Feng Zhongliang or take charge in the Feng Family!

It’s a pity that was the original owner; now that the body had a new ”core,” everything had to be done according to He Tiantian’s wishes.

”My husband is truly considerate and cautious for hiding the silver notes here, truly foolproof!”

He Tiantian directly took the silver notes sewn into Feng Zhongliang’s garment, examined them closely, and found that the notes were of high denominations—three or four of a thousand, and another four or five of a hundred.

He Tiantian unapologetically placed the silver notes into her purse, casually heaping praise as she did so.

Feng Zhongliang had always been honest from a young age, and Nanny Zhao was shrewd and capable. Their mother-son relationship was not exactly harmonious.

Nanny Zhao mostly gave orders to Feng Zhongliang and would scold him at every turn, rarely ever praising him.

Feng Zhongliang knew he was not smart enough to make his mother proud, but despite his longing for her approval, he was tongue-tied and never dared express it.

Now, however, his wife was generously praising him, giving the self-conscious Feng Zhongliang an instant feeling of joy.

Scratching his head, Feng Zhongliang said shyly, ”It’s, it’s nothing much, just following Mom’s orders.”

”My husband, the one who issues orders is certainly intelligent, but the one who executes them flawlessly is also quite remarkable.”

”Just like the Saint, he makes wise and valiant decisions, but what about the Outstanding Officials carrying out his edicts? If done well, they too are praised as virtuous and capable, aren’t they?”

He Tiantian, the seasoned Scam Second Generation, needed no effort to brainwash; a few sweet words were enough to disorient Feng Zhongliang.

”Xiuniang, I... I’m just a commoner, I wouldn’t dare compare myself to those Nobles!”

Feng Zhongliang said this, but his heart swelled with pride.

Yes, the Saint formulates wise state policies and is naturally a wise and divine ruler.

And the ministers who follow the decrees can also be regarded as ”good officials” by the people.
