The Female Lead Decides to Act Wickedly

Chapter 637: Chapter 258 My Mother-in-law is a Loyal Servant (Part 2)

”Student Xiao D, hand over the script to me first.”

He Tiantian did not rush to ask Student Xiao D about the specific details of this new task.

After the task of saving the scene that had just ended, He Tiantian realized that the story heard from others still had a certain distance from what she had personally seen and experienced.

Just like in the previous world, if she hadn’t actually entered the novel world, relying solely on Student Xiao D’s introduction, He Tiantian would have found it very difficult to discover the reason why the previous writer failed.

A script or something, may not be as intuitive as personal experience, but if studied carefully, one could still find some clues.

”Okay!”

Student Xiao D, unaware of He Tiantian’s thoughts, agreed breezily and transmitted the original script, along with the scripts that the first two writers should have written, to He Tiantian.

He Tiantian first received the original script—

Well, how to describe it, this is a very exciting ancient-style farming novel.

No time-traveling, no rebirth, just a very traditional ancient romance novel.

There is farming, business, political strategy, and palace intrigue.

The key is that the author’s writing is very good, the novel world’s framework structure, character setting, and detail depiction are all very in place.

Despite the absence of time-traveling plots, it still feels immersive to the reader.

Because she carved out the characters very three-dimensionally, fully, and vividly, the protagonists, supporting characters, and even some minor roles that only exist in others’ conversations, all leave a deep impression on the reader.

They are not bland paper figures, and not stereotyped.

Moreover, the characterization of some important characters remained intact from beginning to end.

The plot is solid, and the impeccable character design doesn’t collapse, giving the reader a thoroughly exhilarating feeling.

Logically speaking, such a fine novel shouldn’t need a writer to make changes.

However, He Tiantian read it again carefully and finally discovered a small problem.

”This little plot point isn’t written poorly, but compared to the overall quality of the book, it seems to be lacking that little something.”

He Tiantian had done more than a dozen tasks and written more than a dozen novels, having long outgrown the level of a newbie.

She had experience and had also become increasingly smart and acute.

So, she quickly found a jarring detail in this piece that could be called a gem of an ancient-style farming story.

”Gu Xiuniang! The character setting for this male lead’s foster mother is somewhat off!”

He Tiantian’s gaze fell on a villain that only appeared once or twice.

He Tiantian did not rush to inquire but first made a mental note of this thought and continued to read the script rewritten by the first writer.

This writer, though she failed, was perceptive and also noticed the issue with Gu Xiuniang’s character setting.

According to the character setting in the script, Gu Xiuniang was a gender-preferential, bold, and malevolent villain.

After she married her husband, she did not conceive for several years.

The in-laws weren’t pressing her, the mother-in-law and husband both expressed that they should let nature take its course.

But Gu Xiuniang herself was anxious, and in her desperation to have children, more precisely, to have a son, she had become somewhat obsessed.

She used all kinds of fertility remedies, regardless of whether they were credible or not.

After several years of this turmoil, the mother-in-law could no longer stand by and wanted to give her a serious talking-to but right at that moment, Gu Xiuniang became pregnant.

This was originally a piece of good news, but Gu Xiuniang was too problematic.

When she was seven or eight months pregnant, she always felt that the fetal position wasn’t good and it looked more like she was carrying a girl.

Gu Xiuniang dreamed of having a boy, and after suspecting she was carrying a girl, she went somewhat insane.

She came up with the crazy idea to ”swap the dragon for the phoenix.”

She quietly ordered someone to go around and inquire which families had pregnant women due at the same time.

With a hefty amount of silver, she actually bribed several pregnant women.

Gu Xiuniang’s plan was absurd and wild: if she gave birth to a son herself, then all was well.

If it was a daughter, and if any of those women had a son, she planned to switch the children!

Such was her scheming, and yet she was foolish for it was quickly noticed by the shrewd mother-in-law.

Coincidentally, the Marchioness whom the mother-in-law served was also close to giving birth, and just at the moment an accident occurred, the mother-in-law had a stroke of inspiration and decided to ”turn their own plan against them.”

Not long after, Gu Xiuniang, the Marchioness, and those several women all gave birth to their children.

As expected, Gu Xiuniang birthed a daughter, but the Marchioness had a son.

Among those women, two also had sons.
