The Female Lead Decides to Act Wickedly

Chapter 647: Chapter 261 My Mother-in-law is a Loyal Servant (Part 5)_2

Mrs. Zhang felt that if she really brought herself a cow, she reckoned she could devour it all!

As for Mrs. Zhang, she barely had the time to care for her son, let alone spare any concern for a slave’s child.

Mrs. Zhang wasn’t a malicious person, but the ingrained class consciousness had long been etched into her bones.

Though she verbally treated Nanny Zhao as her own mother, deep down inside, she clearly remembered that Nanny Zhao was her wet nurse, a servant born into the Zhang Family.

When it came to her wet nurse, who had raised and cared for her wholeheartedly, Mrs. Zhang maintained a distinct boundary, let alone for someone like Wei Yuanniang, a mere brat.

When times were good at the Marquis Mansion, Mrs. Zhang was in a pleasant mood and willing to provide Wei Yuanniang with a life of comfort and ease.

But she did not treat her as her own flesh and blood, instead, it was like amusing a pet.

To outsiders, this could seem somewhat like a deep mother-daughter affection.

But now that the Marquis Mansion had fallen on hard times, Mrs. Zhang was too busy taking care of herself, rendering Wei Yuanniang nothing more than a burdensome existence—

Without Wei Yuanniang, Nanny Zhao could be helping to support and care for her along with her personal maids.

And yet, to avoid gossip or suspicion, Mrs. Zhang not only had to doubly show her maternal love for Wei Yuanniang but also had to assign a Nanny Zhao to take care of her!

Truly... just thinking about it made one angry.

Then, something even more infuriating happened.

He Tiantian casually dropped this remark and hurried off to the station’s kitchen.

Before long, she returned with a bowl full of steaming, fragrant meat porridge.

As she passed by Mrs. Zhang, Nanny Zhao, and Feng Yanting, He Tiantian didn’t forget to softly say to Feng Yanting, ”Dalang, this bowl of porridge is for the Eldest Miss. Our lady is a benefactor to our family, and the Eldest Miss is her only child; we must take good care of her!”

Therefore, the very one bowl of meat porridge could only be enjoyed by the Eldest Miss.

And Feng Yanting, who had always been the apple of Gu Xiuniang’s eye and treated like a precious gem, could only stand by with a hungry stomach, watching enviously!

Mrs. Zhang & Nanny Zhao:...

Absolutely unbearable!

It had been several years, and although Feng Yanting had left the Marquis Mansion to live with a lesser household like the Feng Family, his treatment had not been poor.

With Nanny Zhao’s overt favoritism and Mrs. Zhang’s secret aid, Feng Yanting’s life was even better than Wei Yuanniang’s.

After all, with Nanny Zhao’s role as the Marchioness’s most favored servant, even if Mrs. Zhang favored a junior like Feng Yanting, outsiders would think she was just honoring Nanny Zhao.

But after the disaster at the Marquis Mansion, Feng Yanting’s treatment hadn’t suffered over the past month.

Feng Zhongliang wasn’t a servant of the Marquis Mansion and wasn’t implicated.

As the only son of the Feng Family, Feng Yanting was still eating and dressing well, comfortably sitting in a carriage, leisurely watching Wei Yuanniang stumble and struggle along with the adults!

Mrs. Zhang and Nanny Zhao found this to be only natural.

Feng Yanting was a disciple of the Marquis Mansion, of noble blood, and he deserved the very best.

It had been distressing enough to have sent him away from the Marquis Mansion to live as a child of a small household.

As for Wei Yuanniang, a mere slave’s daughter, this pair of mistress and servant, even having witnessed her hardship during the escort, did not feel there was anything amiss!

Class consciousness wasn’t just in Mrs. Zhang, the master; even Nanny Zhao, brainwashed by servile ideology, denigrated herself.

He Tiantian:... You wish to be a humble slave, then be one, but why use an innocent child’s life to fulfill your name for ”loyalty” and ”righteousness”?

Perhaps, in ancient people’s eyes, Nanny Zhao’s actions were the most praiseworthy and deserving of promotion.

But He Tiantian did not agree.

However, loyalty and affection were indeed good excuses.

Right?

Mrs. Zhang and Nanny Zhao, left speechless and furious by He Tiantian’s words, surely had a profound experience.

Feng Yanting pursed his lips, feeling wronged yet obediently nodded, ”Yes, Mom!”

”Such a good boy! I knew our Dalang was the most obedient!”

Patting him like one would a dog, He Tiantian gently tapped Feng Yanting’s head and then ran off to take care of Wei Yuanniang.

Before she left, she didn’t forget to remind Nanny Zhao, ”Mom, feed Dalang some dry food, I’ve left it in the kitchen!”

Mrs. Zhang and Nanny Zhao’s faces darkened at once.
