My Silly, Sweet Wife

”Water monkey?”

Ye Guichen furrowed his brows.

This kind of creature, Ye Guichen had indeed heard of it before. It’s said to be a mutated corpse, but different from a zombie.

It’s said that these water monkeys live in the water, comparable to the legendary drowned ghosts, who specialize in dragging people into the water to drown them.

However, Ye Guichen had never seen a water monkey himself, and wasn’t sure if such a thing truly existed in this world.

”Captain Gongsun, what did your grandfather do to have a record of such anomalies?” Ye Guichen suddenly thought of a key issue.

When Gongsun Fengying mentioned the water monkey, she wasn’t overly excited, nor did she show any suspicion. It was as if the existence of water monkeys in this world was completely normal.

It’s unrealistic to believe in bizarre things just by reading a book.

Judging by Gongsun Fengying’s demeanor, she must have been familiar with such monster-like things from a young age.

Gongsun Fengying chuckled, ”What my grandfather did is none of Captain Ye’s concern. However, it wasn’t easy to buy a villa, not only to be targeted but also to encounter such strange happenings, how could you handle it. Hehe, let me tell you, these things are not only incredibly strong but also extremely fast, especially in water, there’s no way you can catch them. In this situation, you better hope that it’s not a water monkey. If it is, I suggest you return the villa. Of course, if you can’t return it, don’t live there in the future. Think about it, living near an artificial lake with a murderous monster inside, what if one day it’s in a bad mood, breaks out of the lake, and kills you while you sleep? Just thinking about it gives me chills.”

Ye Guichen felt embarrassed, didn’t expect Gongsun Fengying to still have the mood to joke at this time, and said irritably, ”Why does it seem like you’re not afraid at all?”

”Hehe, Captain Ye, what is there for me to be afraid of?” replied Gongsun Fengying indifferently, ”I’m only staying here for a few days anyway. Once you cure my illness, I’ll leave.”

Ye Guichen was speechless, ”Don’t you think about killing that thing?”

Gongsun Fengying sneered, ”Ye Guichen, don’t be naive. I admire your martial arts skills, I admire your medical skills, to most people, you are indeed a genius among geniuses, being skilled in both medicine and martial arts. Even in Hua Country, there aren’t many geniuses like you. But do you think you have means to deal with monsters? Let me be frank, even if that thing is not a water monkey, it definitely can’t be killed by ordinary martial arts. If you think your martial arts skill can get rid of it, you are really too naive.”

Ye Guichen countered, ”What, should we just let that thing roam free and continue harming people?”

”Hehe, Ye Guichen, we are just using each other. But considering that you’re treating my hidden illness for money, let me remind you, in this vast world, only Taoist sects can deal with these things. And even among Taoist sects, those who truly have the means are few and far between. As far as I know, the only one who can directly kill such creatures is Heavenly Master Tao’s Master Zhang, Zhang Chonglou.”

”Zhang Chonglou?” Ye Guichen couldn’t help but smile wryly at the mention of the name.

Ye Guichen indeed knew Zhang Chonglou, and Zhang Chonglou once wanted to take him as a disciple.

”Alright, thanks for the information!” Ye Guichen cupped his hands in thanks, then went upstairs to his room.

He took out the talisman he got from King Yan and began researching it.

If it’s a monster, there has to be a way to deal with it.

Although ordinary force can’t handle it, it doesn’t mean talismans can’t.

After Ye Guichen went upstairs, Gongsun Fengying’s eyes flashed, hesitated for a long time, finally took out her cell phone and dialed a number, with a heavy expression she said, ”Grandpa, I might have found a water monkey.”

”What?” The other person was shocked, ”Fengying, where are you now?”

”Jinling.”

After a long silence, the other person asked again, ”Are you sure it’s a water monkey?”

Gongsun Fengying wasn’t certain, but recalling the shadow she saw and combined with her experience, she briefly explained the situation, ”Almost, although not completely sure, I feel there’s an eighty percent chance.”

The other person fell silent again.

After three or four minutes, the other person sighed, ”Fengying, although our Gongsun family is now famous, our ancestors were Heavenly Masters, demon-slaying and monster-hunting is our duty. Back then, grandpa was injured by a water monkey and has been half disabled ever since. Now another such monster has emerged, if it is allowed to grow, more people will be harmed. According to what you said, the water monkey should not be fully mature yet, and can’t leave the water. Once it matures, it will be hard to kill. You must keep a close watch, I will contact the Heavenly Master Tao, they will come overnight. Remember, until they arrive, don’t let anyone near the artificial lake.”

Gongsun Fengying nodded, ”Grandpa, I understand.”

After hanging up the phone, Gongsun Fengying went to the balcony and looked towards the artificial lake, worried.

The person dragged into the water still hadn’t surfaced, but was likely dead.

The lake seemed calm now, but who could predict the dangers lurking beneath.

Ye Guichen studied the talismans throughout the night.

Early next morning, noises started outside.

A security guard yelled, ”Everyone, don’t panic, the person who fell into the water is a thief. Don’t worry, we will strengthen the security measures.”

”This is Phoenix Pavilion. How did a thief get in here? What are you security guards doing?”

”We spent a lot of money on these villas. Given your property management, how can we feel safe living here?”

”We want refunds, we want refunds!”

There was a lot of commotion outside.

Ye Guichen stretched, put away the talisman book, and took out his phone to call Shang Wen Dong, asking him to buy some talisman paper and cinnabar.

Although Shang Wen Dong was curious about what Ye Guichen needed these things for, he agreed.

While making the call, Ye Guichen went to the balcony.

On the balcony, Gongsun Fengying was already standing there.

Strangely, Gongsun Fengying seemed to always wear the same clothes day and night.

Ever since they met, Ye Guichen had never seen her change clothes.

Though curious, Ye Guichen didn’t ask, instead, he looked towards the artificial lake.

A crowd had gathered there, and a cordon had been set up, a body had been pulled from the lake and lay nearby.

Though there was some distance, Ye Guichen’s sharp eyesight allowed him to clearly see the corpse’s appearance.

The entire body was purple, covered in bruises, eyes wide open in terror.

The clothes were torn to shreds, as if ripped apart by some creature.
