My Silly, Sweet Wife

Linglong was sitting on a stone by the lakeside, kicked off her shoes, and put her feet in the water.

Although it was already autumn, it wasn’t too cold. But the moment her feet touched the water, Linglong couldn’t help but shiver.

During the day, Linglong had felt that something was off. Earlier, she was so angry at Gongsun Fengying that she forgot the lake made her uncomfortable. Now, feeling the chill of the water on her feet, she subconsciously looked up.

The moon had already climbed above the treetops, reflecting on the lake’s surface. A gentle breeze blew, creating ripples that shimmered in the moonlight, complementing the specially placed rockery in the lake’s center, adding a unique charm to the scene.

”Full moon in the sky, shimmering lake and mountains,” Linglong murmured to herself. Her once tense mood unwittingly relaxed.

At that moment, she suddenly heard the sound of hurried footsteps behind her.

”Senior brother, you came so fast!” Linglong thought it was Ye Guichen and turned around with a smile that blossomed like a flower.

However, it was not Ye Guichen that she saw, but two masked men.

As soon as Linglong turned her head, the two of them were already close to her.

They both held gleaming daggers in their hands.

One of them quickly approached Linglong, reached out to grab her, and simultaneously pressed the dagger against her neck, threatening in a lowered voice, ”Don’t move, if you dare move, I’ll stab you to death.”

”Who are you!” Linglong never expected these two would do anything to her. She screamed, and her body uncontrollably fell into the lake.

”Ah…!” Along with Linglong’s scream, a figure quickly flashed before her, rushing to her side.

As half of Linglong’s body fell into the water, a hand suddenly pulled her up.

At the same time, that figure pushed Linglong towards the shore, then appeared behind the ones attempting to kidnap her.

With a gentle push.

Although the two had some skills, they were caught off guard by Linglong’s sudden fall into the water and were pushed in without resistance.

”Splash!”

”Splash!”

With two splashing sounds, the two were instantly soaked.

Following behind, Ma Xiaohu and the others were also stunned by this sudden scene.

”What are you all standing around for, catch them!” A voice abruptly sounded beside Ma Xiaohu.

Ma Xiaohu looked up and found a woman standing not far away.

It was Gongsun Fengying.

”Isn’t she the woman from Phoenix Pavilion No.1?” Ma Xiaohu felt strange, not knowing when Gongsun Fengying appeared there. But hearing her words, he quickly nodded, ”Yes, yes, we just noticed something was wrong here, so we came to check.”

After all, Gongsun Fengying also lived in Phoenix Pavilion, half an owner there.

Now that the two suspicious people had fallen into the water, Ma Xiaohu hurriedly shouted, ”What are you standing there for, catch those thieves.”

”Catch? Captain, how?” One of the security guards hesitated, looking at the two people in the water.

In this situation, to catch them, they had to jump into the water.

And then, they would be soaked too.

”How about we wait for them to climb out and then catch them?” Another guard asked softly.

Ma Xiaohu was about to order them to jump in, but then they heard a scream from the artificial lake, ”Ah! What is that!”

”Help! Help!”

Ma Xiaohu and all the security guards, along with Gongsun Fengying, turned their heads to look.

Initially, the water where the two had fallen wasn’t deep. They could easily climb to the shore, but now it seemed something was dragging their feet underwater. No matter how they struggled, they only sank deeper.

Linglong, half soaked, stood by the lakeside, wringing her clothes with a resentful face.

Although she knew Gongsun Fengying had pulled her up, Linglong still had no good feelings towards her, muttering as she wrung the water out.

Upon hearing the sounds from the artificial lake, Linglong instinctively glanced over.

What she saw made her scream again, ”Ah! There’s something in there! Something!”

She jumped and ran to Gongsun Fengying’s side, ”Quick, quick! There’s something in there, grabbing those two!”

”Don’t talk nonsense!” Gongsun Fengying glared at Linglong, planning to leave the matter to Ma Xiaohu and the others and leave.

But the two people in the lake suddenly sank.

Ma Xiaohu’s face turned pale, ”Quick, leave, leave this place!”

As if recalling something terrifying, Ma Xiaohu’s voice quivered, abandoning any thoughts of saving those men and turning to flee.

”Captain Ma, you don’t go to save them, what if something happens, aren’t you afraid of taking responsibility?” Gongsun Fengying was stunned to see Ma Xiaohu leading the retreat.

Ma Xiaohu’s lips trembled, ”Miss Gongsun, save them? Who dares?”

”What’s wrong?”

”N-nothing!” Ma Xiaohu ordered his subordinates, ”Don’t bother about those two, whether dead or alive, wait until daylight. Understood?”

All the security guards stared at the lake, evidently terrified.

They didn’t know what was in the lake, but seeing Ma Xiaohu’s refusal to save, they hesitated, ”Captain Ma, if someone really dies, won’t we be implicated?”

”Better that than dying ourselves!” Ma Xiaohu didn’t intend to save them, ”Also, tonight’s events are to be kept quiet. Those two are thieves who fell in by accident, no connection to anyone.”

”But…”

”No buts.” Ma Xiaohu calmed his nerves and forced a smile at Linglong, ”Those two clearly meant harm to you, they got what they deserved. Right?”

Linglong’s face was pale.

She saw only their heads above water, biting her lip, ”I can’t watch them die!”

She then ran towards the lake.

This stunned Ma Xiaohu and the security guards.

Gongsun Fengying didn’t expect Linglong to have such a strong sense of justice.

The two obviously meant her harm, and she still wanted to save them.

”Stop!” Gongsun Fengying grabbed Linglong, ”You wait here, I’ll go check.”

Pushing Linglong back, Gongsun Fengying leapt gracefully onto the lake surface.

Her feet like a dragonfly skimming the water, she took several steps on the surface, reaching the place where the two fell.

Linglong was used to Gongsun Fengying’s martial prowess, but Ma Xiaohu and the others were awestruck.

”Is this ’water walking’?” A guard swallowed, feeling like he was in a martial arts film.

Gongsun Fengying, standing on the water, reached for the shoulders of the two submerged men.

One slipped through as if something underwater pulled powerfully, submerging entirely.

Gongsun Fengying’s face grew taut.

She looked down and vaguely saw a shadow underwater gripping their feet.
