After I Died, the Scumbag Went Mad

Chapter 107: Chapter 107: The Person Julian Fletcher Loves is Cecilia Caldwell?

Suddenly, I was curious about Asher, and about what had happened between us.

Asher definitely knew ’Cecilia Caldwell’, but I had completely forgotten him.

I hadn’t just forgotten Asher; I’d forgotten everything about the orphanage.

’When did I start forgetting?’

’And when did I tell Asher to wait for me at the orphanage?’

’Is everything Asher has been through... related to me?’

I had too many questions that I needed to find the answers to.

...

It seemed there was trouble at the Lancaster Group. Master Lancaster and his cronies wouldn’t let Asher manage the company so easily.

With the old master’s accident and Dominic Grant’s incident, Asher was the only one left to manage the Lancaster Family’s affairs.

But Master Lancaster was deliberately spreading rumors at the company that Asher was mentally ill, trying to get all the senior executives and board members to unite against him and force him to relinquish control.

”Young Master, there’s some trouble at the office. You need to come with me,” Assistant Foster said, knocking on the door.

Asher looked up at me reluctantly, his eyes filled with intense irritation. ”Cece... they’re so annoying.”

He wished he could just make all these people disappear...

”Should I go with you?” I started to get up to get dressed and go out with him.

”Cece, wait for me at home.” Asher shook his head, the red mark of a slap still visible on his fair face.

His skin was so pale that the slap had left a distinct, swollen red mark.

I averted my gaze. ”Just listen to Assistant Foster. Don’t be stubborn, and don’t be impulsive.”

Asher nodded and left the room.

I was now certain that Asher’s instantaneous change in demeanor wasn’t just my imagination.

In front of others versus in front of me, he was absolutely two different people; even his aura was different.

The moment he walked out the door, even his back radiated an oppressive aura.

BZZZ! My phone rang. It was an unknown number.

I answered the call.

”Silvia Lynch, it’s Erin Whittaker.” The caller was, surprisingly, Erin Whittaker.

Her voice was trembling, filled with rage and hatred. ”Is Julian Fletcher with you? You shameless woman, do you think you can snatch him from me just by pretending to be Cecilia Caldwell? He’s not answering my calls! You make him answer my calls!”

Erin Whittaker was screaming hysterically, demanding to see Julian Fletcher.

”You’re looking for Julian Fletcher, so you call me? Are you insane?” I sneered.

’So Erin Whittaker has days like this, too? A time when she’s so insecure?’

’Back when she used to provoke me, she was so confident, believing that Julian Fletcher would only ever love her for the rest of his life.’

’Too bad. Now that someone else has appeared, does she, the aggressive third party, finally get to experience how I felt back then?’

”Let me talk to Julian Fletcher!” Erin Whittaker said frantically, her tone almost a threat.

I laughed and deliberately mimicked Erin Whittaker’s old tone. ”Julian Fletcher? Oh, he’s in the shower right now. He can’t take your call.”

I still remembered the time my stomach hurt so much I fainted. I was rushed to the hospital, bleeding heavily and in desperate need of money. I called Julian Fletcher, wanting to beg him to come see me.

But what about him? He was busy throwing money around, partying with Erin Whittaker in a luxury hotel.

I stubbornly made countless calls, but in the end, it was Erin Whittaker who answered.

She had told me, provocatively, that Julian Fletcher was in the shower and couldn’t take my call.

’Heh... what goes around, comes around.’

Erin Whittaker on the other end was clearly about to lose her mind, screaming hysterically at me. ”Silvia Lynch, do you think he really loves you? He loves Cecilia Caldwell! You’re just a substitute, a fake who can never replace her! He’s only interested in you because you look like Cecilia Caldwell. He’ll abandon you sooner or later!”

Amused, I rubbed my ear. To think Erin Whittaker would say the person Julian Fletcher loved was Cecilia Caldwell.

’How ironic.’

”If there’s nothing else, I’m hanging up. Listening to your crap is polluting my ears.” I didn’t want to listen anymore and was about to end the call.

”Do you really think I don’t have evidence to prove the connection between you and the murderer? Silvia Lynch, you just wait. Even if I die, I’ll drag you to Hell with me.” Erin Whittaker gritted her teeth and spoke again. ”Don’t get cocky. I saved Julian Fletcher’s life. He’ll keep me around forever, even if it’s just out of gratitude.”

”He won’t abandon me. You’re just a momentary novelty to Julian Fletcher.” Erin Whittaker was still deceiving herself.

I just said, ”Oh. Well, you’re just so amazing then. Good luck with that.”

After saying that, I hung up the phone.

’I will make Erin Whittaker’s life a living hell. Every day she’s alive now will be spent in terror and suspicion.’

’No need to rush.’

’Revenge against her needs to be taken slowly.’

’Like boiling a frog in slowly heating water, she has to taste a hundred times the suffering I endured for it to be proper retribution.’

...

”The Young Master is so good to the Madam... He hasn’t eaten all day, just waiting for her. He won’t eat until she comes back.”

When I came downstairs, a few of the young maids were gossiping.

They were saying that Asher hadn’t eaten anything.

He’d been waiting for me ever since I coaxed him to sleep after breakfast.

I didn’t come back for lunch, and he just kept waiting.

I sighed and walked out of the Lancaster residence.

’Why on earth is Asher so insistent on waiting for me?’

’What exactly is the relationship between us?’

After leaving the house, I called Howard Finch. ”Class President, I’m sorry to bother you like this. I have a few questions about our time at school that I’d like to ask you. Yes, it’s work-related.”

’I want to start with the orphanage. I need to find out what exactly happened there back then.’

”Alright, Class President. Let’s meet at the corner cafe.”

Leaving the Lancaster estate, I went to the roadside to hail a cab.

After getting into the taxi, I instinctively glanced in the rearview mirror and saw a black car following me.

”Driver, turn left at the next intersection,” I said, deliberately telling the driver to turn left.

The car also turned left.

”Turn right,” I said, having the driver turn right.

The car behind was still following.

I picked a random place to stop, and the other car also parked nearby.

It was obvious the people in that car were tailing and watching me.

I didn’t go directly to the corner cafe. I was afraid of getting Howard Finch involved, especially since he was also from the orphanage.

’Although his number is quite high, it would still take some time for the murderer to get to him.’

I got out of the car, took out my makeup compact to pretend to touch up my makeup, and looked behind me.

A few men got out of the car that had been following me. They blended into the crowd, but their eyes were fixed on me.

I turned and went into a restroom, tied up my hair, then struck up a conversation with a group of girls and walked out with them, blending in.

The men didn’t seem to notice for the moment, and I quickly slipped away.

I didn’t know who these people watching me were, but they definitely weren’t good news.

’They probably aren’t men sent by the Lancaster Family to protect me.’

’Ever since I beat up the last guy assigned to protect me, Assistant Foster has always given me a heads-up if I’m going to be followed when I go out.’

’If someone were following me this time, Assistant Foster would have definitely told me.’

But these men.

They were definitely not Assistant Foster’s people.

I entered a mall and made sure no one had followed me before slipping out the back entrance and heading to the cafe.

When I entered the cafe, Howard Finch was already there.

He greeted me and said in a low voice, ”Silvia Lynch, what’s been going on with you lately? The Sir told me to be wary of you, said you were showing signs of betrayal.”

Howard Finch looked a little anxious.

My heart tightened. ’What did he mean by that?’

’Betrayal?’
