Forced Pampering: Haughty Husband, Please Restrain Yourself

Chapter 1489: Chapter 1503: Where Did She Go?

An Youcai continued expressing gratitude and remorse until he felt the atmosphere growing increasingly awkward, then he stopped, and after a moment, he called out again, as if to confirm whether An Ran was still listening.

An Ran responded with a soft ”Mm” as a reply.

Upon hearing An Ran’s voice, An Youcai continued, ”Ran, I shouldn’t be bothering you with this, but Dad truly has no other options. I heard Jiajia visited Nan University a few days ago to find you?”

”Yes,” An Ran replied, unsure how An Youcai knew about this, unless An Sijia had mentioned it?

An Youcai’s voice became slightly agitated, ”Then Ran, do you know where Jiajia went?”

Where did she go? An Ran was somewhat bewildered by An Youcai’s question.

”She came to find me that Monday, said some trivial things, and then left. I haven’t seen her since.” An Ran answered truthfully. As for An Sijia’s words, they were indeed trivial to her, and if An Sijia wasn’t too foolish, after hearing those last words, she shouldn’t go looking for Mu Xingfeng.

”I see,” An Youcai’s voice was full of endless disappointment and exhaustion, ”Ran, can I ask you to inform me if there’s any news about Jiajia? Since she left that day, your mom and I haven’t heard anything from her. These days, Xuehui has been frantic. We’ve filed a report with the police, but there’s no sign of her. She doesn’t even know that Jiawen Entertainment isn’t pursuing compensation anymore; I truly worry she won’t handle the blow and might do something foolish.”

”Mm, I will,” An Ran agreed.

An Youcai said a couple more things, realizing An Ran didn’t seem inclined for a deeper conversation, and then he hung up.

An Ran rubbed her phone, watching as autumn winds blew, leaves falling, and became lost in thought.

She really hadn’t expected An Sijia would pull a disappearing act—could it be to avoid the two million? Did she genuinely go seeking death?

Thinking of the latter, An Ran shook her head. An Sijia, such a selfish and proud woman, why would she seek death to reduce her family’s burden? If she did do that, An Ran might even give her more credit.

”An Ran, why are you sitting here? Look who this is?”

Suddenly, from behind came Xiao Xiao’s voice, filled with delight and excitement.

An Ran turned her head and saw not far away Xiao Xiao with Wang Xiaoyi beside her.

”Xiaoyi, is it you?”

An Ran didn’t expect it to be Wang Xiaoyi.

Wang Xiaoyi stepped forward and gave An Ran a big hug, ”I’ve returned to Nan’an. Come on, I’ll treat you to the western restaurant at the corner.”

”Sure,” An Ran knew Wang Xiaoyi had done well after moving to Imperial City, and didn’t refuse her offer.

Just right, there were no classes in the evening, and the three of them went to find Shen Qi, heading straight to the western restaurant together.

After ordering the meal, while enjoying the food, the old dormitory friends began to reminisce.

Wang Xiaoyi left Chen Yankun’s company, planning to develop herself independently, preparing to open a fashion design studio, considering that while the market in Imperial City was large, the competitive pressures were even greater.

She grew up in a small mountain village and, besides Nan’an, hadn’t been to many big cities, so she simply returned to develop in Nan’an.

”That’s great, then we can see each other often in the future,” Xiao Xiao raised her glass to celebrate.

An Ran focused on her fashion design studio, if she remembered correctly, Wang Xiaoyi had always loved this industry, ”Xiaoyi, that’s wonderful. I wish your dream comes true soon.”

Shen Qi, with a reserved personality, spoke little even when sitting with familiar girls, but still raised her glass, ”Congratulations, Xiaoyi.”
