Forced Pampering: Haughty Husband, Please Restrain Yourself

Chapter 429: Chapter 443: Will You Keep Me Company?

”Old man, don’t worry. The doctor said you need to stay calm. Xingfeng already has a girlfriend, so your great-grandchild won’t be far off. If you’re still uneasy, we can let them get the marriage license first. Does that work?” Grandma Mu comforted Old Mr. Mu, then turned to Mu Xingfeng.

Mu Xingfeng remained silent for a long time, making Old Mr. Mu let out a long sigh.

”Don’t make things difficult...for the kids. If really...that day I...can’t close my eyes, then...please...handle the burden...help me close my eyes.”

Mu Zhenzong, who couldn’t bear watching anymore, frowned and spoke deeply, ”Xingfeng, Grandpa is waiting for your response.”

Mu Xingfeng glanced at Old Mr. Mu, seemingly having made a decision, walked to An Ran, took her hand, and led her out of the hospital room into an empty hallway.

Mu Xingfeng pulled her into his embrace, holding her tightly for a full two minutes before speaking in a low voice, ”An Ran, the following words, listen to me. After hearing them, you have the right to refuse; I won’t blame you.”

An Ran had been in a daze since she heard Old Mr. Mu’s words in the hospital room; she couldn’t have imagined that coming to the hospital would turn out like this.

Upon hearing Mu Xingfeng’s words, she instinctively nodded.

Mu Xingfeng held her shoulders, forcing her to look into his eyes, looking into those bright and clear eyes, Mu Xingfeng spoke slowly, ”An Ran, I love you. Marry me. Maybe saying this now seems abrupt, but it’s what I’ve always wanted to tell you. Marry me, okay?”

An Ran blinked in shock, after a long while weakly opening her mouth, ”Is it because of Grandpa?”

Because Grandpa is critically ill, because of Grandpa’s hope, so Instructor Mu is proposing to her?

Mu Xingfeng looked at her and said seriously, ”No, An Ran, if you think from the moment I met you, I had this thought, you must find it absurd. But that’s who I truly am. The life I want is very simple; no matter what happens, you must be a part of that life. Will you stay with me?”

”No...Instructor Mu, I...I don’t know,” An Ran panicked, somewhat incoherently breaking free from his hands.

This morning, Lin Junyang had just said Instructor Mu loves her, and now Instructor Mu is proposing to her. Reality came too fast, her brain was nearly overheating.

She understood every word they said, but when placed in front of her, she couldn’t understand any of it.

She was supposed to be Instructor Mu’s fake girlfriend to fend off admirers, how did it become a marriage proposal?

Besides, she was only eighteen, an orphan, someone everybody avoided - a bad luck girl. How could Instructor Mu be interested in someone like her?

That wasn’t important. What mattered was that she wasn’t pure. How could someone as filthy as her deserve someone as perfect as Instructor Mu?

If Instructor Mu knew about her past, he would definitely despise her, right? Rather than being despised then, she would rather forego this happiness altogether.

If she was destined to lose it, it would be better not to have it.

Seeing An Ran’s helplessness, Mu Xingfeng embraced her again, adopting a roundabout approach, ”Alright, alright, don’t worry. But you saw Grandpa’s condition, it’s his wish. If you’re willing, we’ll get the marriage license first, so Grandpa can peacefully recover. If you want to regain your freedom later, I can accompany you to get a divorce anytime, does that work?”

Mu Xingfeng didn’t want to rush, but Grandpa’s condition forced him to make a decision. Anyway, he had chosen her; since she would eventually be his wife, he might as well secure her now and train her later.
