Forced Pampering: Haughty Husband, Please Restrain Yourself

Chapter 428: Chapter 442: Want to See Great-Grandchild

”How is grandpa?” Mu Wanxin was the first to rush over, grabbing Mu Xingfeng and asking.

Mu Xingfeng’s gaze first swept over An Ran, then landed on Grandma Mu beside him.

Following Mu Xingfeng’s gaze, Mu Wanxin took a look and quickly explained, ”Grandma, we were at your villa when we heard that grandpa was hospitalized. You insisted on coming here with us. How is grandpa now?”

”He’s still in emergency care,” Mu Xingfeng dropped a sentence, then went to Grandma Mu’s side, helping her find a place to sit down.

An Ran had been feeling guilty and self-reproachful. Seeing Mu Xingfeng only deepened her guilt, and she didn’t dare to lift her head.

Mu Xingfeng reached out to touch her little head, ”Stay with grandma.”

An Ran lifted her head and met those deep eyes. She wondered if it was an illusion, but she felt that Mu Xingran wasn’t as anxious as the elder sister.

Just then, the doors of the emergency room opened, and the director of the Military General Hospital came out.

Mu Zhenzong and a few others immediately surrounded him.

”Director, how is Old Mr. Mu’s condition?” Mu Zhenzong asked.

The director looked at Mu Zhenzong for a moment before speaking, ”Old chief’s illness came on rather suddenly. We have managed to control it, but the situation is not good. He will need to be observed in the hospital for a few days. During this time, it’s critical that he doesn’t get angry or overly excited. If he has any wishes, try your best to fulfill them.”

”Yes, yes, we family members will definitely pay attention,” Mu Zhenzong replied hurriedly.

At that moment, Old Mr. Mu was also wheeled out by the medical staff and transferred to the high-ranking official ward.

The family followed along, and An Ran supported Grandma Mu as they walked in.

As soon as they entered, Grandma Mu came to the bedside, holding Old Mr. Mu’s hand and said, ”Old man, what happened to you? I just left home for half a day and you’ve landed yourself in the hospital. If something happens to you, what am I supposed to do?”

Tears began to fall as she spoke.

Old Mr. Mu fought the urge to twitch his mouth, closed his eyes, sighed softly, and weakly said, ”If I die, I die. It spares me the worry and effort of living. I’ve accepted it, I won’t live to see the day my great-grandson is born.”

”Dad, what are you saying? Who upset you?” Mu Zhenzong rushed forward to ask.

He tried to think, aside from the hiccup at yesterday’s engagement banquet, everything at home had been peaceful recently.

Moreover, yesterday’s matter had already been resolved. Wanxin and Wenxuan had made up. They knew about it early this morning.

”No one... upset me. It’s just... I’m old, the older I get... the less capable I am,” Old Mr. Mu said intermittently, as weak as a candle in the wind.

Mu Wanxin had never seen her grandpa in this state. In her impression, her grandpa was always energetic, with a booming voice. Tears streamed down her face.

”Grandpa, it’s our fault for making you worry. Don’t worry, Wenxuan and I are doing very well, really well. We plan to marry after the new year and have a child so you can hold your great-grandchild.”

”Good... good... good...” Old Mr. Mu said ’good’ three times in a row, then looked toward Mu Xingfeng.

”Xingfeng, you and Ran should also get things settled. Grandpa wants to see his great-grandson.”

Mu Xingfeng glanced at An Ran, who had been thunderstruck by Old Mr. Mu’s words, instinctively looking at Mu Xingfeng.

Their gazes met unexpectedly.

Seeing An Ran’s helpless eyes, Mu Xingfeng turned his head and said, ”Grandpa, An Ran is still young, she’s still studying.”

”But Grandpa is very anxious. I’m afraid if we wait any longer, I won’t be able to... cough, cough, cough...”
