Reborn in the Eighties as a Housewife with a Space

Chapter 1001: Chapter 995: Messed Up Again_1

“Second Brother, we are here to eat, let’s not order alcohol.” Jing Yuan said to Jing Peng.

“It’s fine. You eat, second brother will drink.” Jing Peng disregarded her suggestion to avoid alcohol.

“Oh.” Jing Yuan looked at Jing Peng, unsure of what to say next, consequently not expressing her reluctance.

“Yuanyuan, are you troubled?” Jing Peng inquired Jing Yuan all of a sudden.

“No, second brother, why would you think I have worries?” Jing Yuan’s heart skipped a beat, racing uncontrollably. The suggestion frightened her. Had her second brother seen through her?

“Yuanyuan has grown up, she no longer confides in her second brother. If our elder brother was here, Hao Hao would definitely tell him. From a young age, Yuanyuan has always confided in Hai Peng and not in me.” Jing Peng remarked, seeming a little hurt.

“Second brother, don’t get the wrong idea, there is nothing I cannot share with you. There’s really no issue.” Jing Yuan didn’t say anything more. She looked at her second brother. She couldn’t quite describe her feelings. She was certain she loved her elder brother, yet Jing Peng’s presence made her feel a confusing, elusive emotion.

Especially after that one time, she frequently ruminated on the extraordinary incident. Late at night, when all was quiet, she often felt unbearably empty. Contemplating to contact her second brother, she always resisted the urge in respect to her elder brother. Suppressed feelings of emptiness constantly plagued her, often causing insomnia. It was akin to the persisting craving a vegetarian might have after tasting meat for the first time.

These thoughts embarrassed Jing Yuan, her own body’s desires tormenting her. This lead her to constantly seek out Jing Xin, longing to see him. But her efforts were fruitless. When she finally succeeded, the dire aftermath left her feeling uneasy.

Her brother’s drink was now on the table. Jing Yuan was tempted to indulge in the alcohol, dismissing her earlier apprehensions. Perhaps deep down, she expected something to occur between her and Jing Peng once more. Jing Yuan reached out, took the bottle, poured herself a drink, and another for Jing Peng.

“Second brother, let’s have a drink.” Jing Yuan held up her glass towards Jing Peng, her smile captivating.

“Sure, but you mustn’t get drunk, okay?” Laughing, Jing Peng lifted his glass as well, though his words were merely ceremonial.

“Isn’t getting drunk better? You don’t have to think about anything, doesn’t the saying go ‘a drink can drown all sorrows?’ Not that there are any sorrows to drown but I want to experience that feeling, so, please, second brother, accompany me in drinking.” Jing Yuan said, her voice soothing and endearing. This stirred Jing Peng, giving him the impression that something more might come of this evening.

“Yuanyuan, listen to your second brother, getting drunk doesn’t solve anything. It may be fun in the moment but the problems will remain once you wake up. Why cause yourself that struggle?” Jing Peng advised Jing Yuan, though his words only made Jing Yuan more eager to drink.

“Second brother, I know, but life spans only a few short decades. I wish to try some experiences I haven’t had before, please, will you accompany me in drinking?” Jing Yuan authentically wanted to drink. She was eager to find out if getting drunk was truly as they say, releasing all concerns and worries, feeling only pure joy akin to an immortal’s bliss.
