Treasure Hunting System： The Ocean Conquerer

Chapter 437: Chapter 229: The Orange Treasure Radiance

The lines dividing the sky traced across once again.

The curtain of night was pulled apart, revealing the brilliance of the blazing sun.

Simon, who was assembling something by the campfire, immediately took out his sphere the moment he sensed daybreak.

18 hours, huh...

This time, the night and the adjacent day had lasted exactly the same amount of time. It could even be described as precise to the second, which was quite unbelievable.

Is it a coincidence? Or is it meant to be this way?

Simon muttered to himself and put the sphere away again.

They had only been here for a few days, so they couldn’t jump to conclusions yet.

At this time, as daylight arrived, everyone else who had been in their rooms came out and gathered around the campfire.

Alka looked at everyone and said, ”Alright, let’s split into two teams as we decided last night.”

Jason, Juanlu, Lucilia, as well as Ling and Wu, would remain in the town.

Lucilia was the only one who spoke both languages, and Jason was the primary person for gathering intelligence.

The others would naturally explore outwards with Alka, helping Chadite survey the surrounding environment so she could accurately create the map.

For a typical Treasure Hunting Team, intelligence is clearly more important than the so-called map. But for their team, intelligence and the map were equally important. The map even took priority over intelligence.

Alka had already asked the island residents yesterday if they had any maps.

They answered yes. The problem was that their maps—how should one put it?—could only be described as doodles. They only marked dangerous areas, with all other areas left unmarked. They had even drawn the entire island’s outline quite crudely, with very low precision.

Simply put, only the person who drew it would know how to use it; you could say it was inherently encrypted. If it went unused for a long time, perhaps even the artist himself wouldn’t understand it.

It simply couldn’t be used as a map. This was quite unbelievable for a town whose inhabitants had lived on this island for many years.

But Alka had no choice; they would have to draw their own map.

However, this crude map could still provide them with some help, such as deciding which area to map first.

Then, the group set out together.

They followed Alka to the port located behind the town.

Although it was behind the town, the town’s gate was three kilometers from the port. Fortunately, a small path had been built.

On this path, they could see two teams of hunters from the town patrolling. Besides Alka’s group, there were also some fishermen from the town, dragging their fishing gear.

Hunting, farming, fishing.

It seemed the town had abundant food sources; clearly, they didn’t need to worry about food. Indeed, they hadn’t seen anyone in the town yesterday who looked thin or hungry.

They arrived at the port.

This port, as Bai Shi had previously mentioned, was small. However, despite its size, it harbored two large ships, each about 40 meters long, and many small fishing boats. The two large ships had been dragged ashore and clearly belonged to the town.

Alka reached the port and called out simply. A moment later, a boat came sailing from afar. If Alka hadn’t used his harmonica to instruct the Sound of Dawn, it might have surfaced directly from the seabed right in front of them.

They docked the Sound of Dawn at the port.

”Alright, I’ll leave things here to you,” Alka said, looking at Jason and the others.

”Rest assured.”

With that, the two teams bid farewell.

Alka and his group headed out of the town. However, they didn’t leave directly but instead circled the town’s walls, arriving at the place where they had entered the previous day.

Sure enough, they saw Bai Shi, the man who had brought them over yesterday, leading a team of hunters on patrol along the town wall.

”Oh, it’s you. Is there something you need?” Bai Shi asked, looking at Alka and his companions.

By the looks of it, they had clearly come looking for him.

Hearing this, Alka smiled and said, ”We’re not very familiar with this island, and you mentioned it’s quite dangerous. So, we were hoping to find a guide to show us around and point out any areas we shouldn’t go to, or that are particularly hazardous.”

Alka then added, ”Of course, we’ll pay for your services.”

Hearing Alka’s words, Bai Shi nodded with understanding. He was familiar with this kind of request. Among the strangers who came to the island, five out of ten would ask for a guide immediately. Of the remaining five, four would end up seeking a guide in the following days. The last one usually ended up dead on the road. Although it was an exaggeration, that was the saying that circulated among the hunters.

After a moment of thought, he said, ”Alright, I’ll be your guide then.”

”You?” Alka asked, a little surprised.

Isn’t he the patrol team leader? And a powerful figure at that.

Wouldn’t this be considered dereliction of duty?

”What’s wrong? You don’t think I can do it? I grew up on this island too. Don’t worry, I’ve been a guide several times before,” Bai Shi said with a smile, dispelling Alka’s concerns.

Fair enough. Since the man before them was quite capable, if he didn’t mind, why should they?

Then Bai Shi added, ”To be honest, watching the gate is pretty dull. If beasts actually manage to charge all the way to the gate, our town might as well be declared finished anyway.”

Alka nodded in agreement. ”Of course, that would be ideal for us.”

Seeing Alka agree, Bai Shi smiled. He then called over one of his team members, whispered a few words to him, then slung his bow over his shoulder, grabbed a few quivers of arrows, and walked over.
