Chapter 1692: Chapter 1690: Is This Even Possible? (Ben Cat Starts Learning How to Procrastinate Chuu Chuu Chuu – Part 2)

”Next up... Meiyin! Your turn!”

”Me?”

Looking at the banana that Mel had pushed in front of her, Meiyin hesitated for a moment and then gave her answer.

”If I were to become the King, well, I would make everyone read books! I want to turn the country into the Country of Books! That way, I can fulfill my wish!”

”Country of Books?”

”Yes, because books are the most wonderful things in the world. Right now, there aren’t enough, but if I become King, I can gather craftsmen from around the country to create the best paper machines and then produce all kinds of books for everyone to read, whether they are nobility or commoners, so everyone gets to read. Also, I want to transform the Royal Palace into the largest library, and then I want to fill every corner of the palace with bookshelves full of books. Whoever reads the most books, I will allow them to gain promotions and fortune. This way, everyone will definitely read books! I can even mandate that everyone read at least one book a day. This way, everyone will enjoy the fun of reading... and also...”

Watching Meiyin talk incessantly, Megumin tugged at Mel nearby.

”Hey, I think Meiyin has a bit of a tyrant streak...”

”I think so too...”

Mel’s expression was quite awkward at this point. Although she knew Meiyin adored books, this... this was terrifying. According to Meiyin’s plan, it’s basically a book dictatorship, and although Meiyin might not realize it herself, for others, it would be no different from Hell...

At this point, not only Megumin and Mel but others were also alarmed by Meiyin’s incessant talking. Mel quickly regained her senses, clapped her hands forcefully, interrupting Meiyin.

”Okay, okay, Meiyin, you really love books, we all know that now. As for whether your ideal will be achieved, let’s wait for fate to decide!”

”Hmm...”

Upon hearing Mel’s words, Meiyin donned a serious expression, stared at the emblem in Megumin’s hand, then took a deep breath and grabbed it!

”...”

No light emitted.

Seeing this, Meiyin let out a disappointed ”Ah...” sigh, while the others heaved a sigh of relief.

”What a pity, it seems you failed.”

Mel pouted, while Meiyin just snorted softly.

”It shows this Divine Dragon doesn’t like books, not on the same page with me. So Mel, what about you? What would you do if you became the King?”

”Me?”

Faced with Meiyin’s question, Mel was stunned.

”I don’t want to be any kind of King.”

”But everyone has spoken, you should say something too.”

”Mm... Then I’ll just be a regular King.”

”What’s a regular King!”

”That’s too perfunctory!”

”Give us more details!”

Upon hearing Mel’s answer, everyone immediately began to critique it, and Mel obviously couldn’t handle it, but soon, noticing the approaching Emilia, Mel’s eyes lit up.

”Just in time, Emilia, you should join us.”

”Huh? What are we playing?”

”It’s a fun game!”

Then Mel took the emblem and explained everything to Emilia, who soon understood, but...

”Can I play too?”

Emilia was somewhat uneasy, as she was different from the others; she counted as a guest here. Although Fang Zheng and everyone else didn’t mind, Emilia still couldn’t help but feel unsure. Plus, honestly speaking, Emilia really enjoyed the atmosphere of the castle. People here didn’t avoid her as they did in Lugnica, didn’t insult or call her a witch.

Moreover, the children here really liked her, and everyone else got along well with Emilia, allowing her to finally feel the warmth of friendships. This was why Emilia even felt like living here forever.

But compared to others, Emilia’s situation was indeed awkward, so in order to stay here, Emilia volunteered to take care of the children.

So far, it’s worked out well.

”Of course.”

”Hmm...”

Upon hearing Mel’s response, Emilia pondered for a moment.

”Then... I wish for everyone to get along harmoniously, treat each other equally...”

”That’s too vague!”

”That’s better than your ordinary King idea!”

Everyone critiqued Mel again, and Mel stuck her tongue out, then reached out her hand.

”Well, Emilia, go grab the emblem.”

”Ah, okay...”

Emilia nodded, then took the emblem—immediately, it emitted a gentle radiance in her hand.

”———————”

Seeing this scene, the girls were all surprised and widened their eyes, and after a moment, they jumped up.

”Eh eh eh eh eh!!!!??”

Meanwhile, in the room, Fang Zheng was simultaneously contacting the Heavenly Dao Palace while replenishing Ram’s magic power, Ram nestled in Fang Zheng’s arms, squinting comfortably, while Fang Zheng’s left hand was placed on Ram’s forehead, emitting a gentle radiance.

And at this time, Rem’s voice came from outside the door.

”Wait, what are you guys doing? Wait a minute, Lord Fang Zheng and sister are inside...”

”Boom!!”

However, before Rem could finish speaking, the tightly closed door was suddenly pushed open, and then the girls hurriedly rushed into the room.

”Mr. Fang Zheng, something bad happened!”

”Mr. Fang Zheng, something’s wrong!!”

The girls shouted as they ran into the room, then saw Fang Zheng holding Ram in his arms, and everyone froze.

”Uh... what are you...?”

”I’m replenishing Ram’s magic power, what’s so urgent?”

Fang Zheng glared at the group, then released his hand, while Ram reluctantly jumped down from Fang Zheng’s embrace and stood behind him again.

”Big news! Emilia has been chosen!”

”What? What are you talking about?”

”It means Emilia...”

”That stone started glowing...”

”Didn’t expect it to be so coincidental...”

”Everyone stop!!”

Listening to the girls babble in front of him, Fang Zheng felt his head swell, he quickly raised his voice and shouted, finally calming them down.

”Mel, you explain.”

”Ah, yes, here’s what happened...”

”Hmm, hmmm...”

Fang Zheng listened to Mel explain the cause and effect, then widened his eyes in surprise.

”Seriously, such a coincidence?”

”Right, we also find it quite incredible.”

The girls nodded in agreement to Mel’s words, they had only considered this as a game, but unexpectedly they actually found the fifth Royal Selection Candidate, indeed quite surprising.

”So... Emilia?”

Thinking of this, Fang Zheng looked at Emilia who was ushered in by the girls, still bewildered and clueless.

”Ah, I’m here!”

Hearing Fang Zheng call her name, Emilia finally snapped back to reality.

”Do you want to be the King?”

”...”

Emilia shook her head vigorously, she had no interest whatsoever in being Lugnica’s King. In fact, Emilia didn’t like the country of Lugnica at all because rumors about the Witch had circulated for hundreds of years in that area, and precisely because of this, people were wary and jealous of Emilia for looking like the Witch, and being a Half-Elf as well. For Emilia, living in that country is only filled with unpleasant memories.

In the past, Emilia had no other options, although leaving Lugnica was indeed a choice, as an ordinary girl without financial power, Emilia couldn’t just leave the country. In fact, her activities were mostly limited to the vicinity of the Frozen Forest, without ever traveling far.

Only after coming here did Emilia feel she finally escaped from the shadows of the Witch, the people here weren’t as sensitive as the people of Lugnica about the Witch’s rumors, living here felt almost like a dream to Emilia.

Now, if she returned to Lugnica, surely those people would still show hostility and hatred towards her, so for Emilia, she really had no desire to return and participate in the Royal Selection.

After hearing Emilia’s answer, Fang Zheng shrugged.

”Alright, problem solved, let’s get back to what we were doing.”

”Just like that?!”

Hearing this, Felt widened her eyes in surprise, she originally thought if Emilia was willing to participate in the Royal Selection, she would just support her, but unexpectedly Emilia refused too?

More importantly, Fang Zheng dismissed such an important matter with just one sentence?

”Emilia doesn’t want to, then don’t participate, what’s there to say, aren’t you the same?”

”...”

Faced with Fang Zheng’s rhetorical question, Felt found herself at a loss for words. However, she quickly changed her mind.

”Right, then we can also tell Reinhard, just say all the Royal Selection candidates are chosen, but Emilia and I have no intention of becoming King, just let the other three compete?”

”Hmm, that works too.”

Fang Zheng knew Felt was likely still thinking about returning to King’s City, of course, maybe not returning, but in any case, to make Reinhard give up sooner was important for Felt, at least he wouldn’t bother her anymore, right?

”Then tomorrow, I’ll go talk to Reinhard.”
