Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 1652: Chapter 1650: The Beginning of Turmoil (It’s Starting to Snow, and It’s Really Heavy)

On the surface, the entire Royal Capital seemed peaceful.

But as the Blue Rose had anticipated, even the things they could predict, the Eight Fingers would naturally not overlook the same intelligence. Moreover, they knew even more than the Blue Rose — because one of their ”goods” had been taken away by that adventure team.

The Eight Fingers certainly wouldn’t think that this adventure team was opposing them over a mere piece of goods. In their view, it was clear that this was a meticulously planned conspiracy, and perhaps there was a powerful force behind that adventurer team. But what was their goal?

Was it a warning? A display of strength? Or a double-cross?

The Eight Fingers quickly came up with a countermeasure. After all, they controlled the dark underground of this Kingdom and absolutely would not allow anyone to provoke them like this!

So, early the next morning, two people came knocking.

”I am Staffan Hengweishu, Circuit Envoy guarding the Royal Capital’s public order.”

Dressed in luxurious clothing, a man resembling a fat pig looked at Fang Zheng with a cheerful smile and introduced himself.

”So, what do you want?”

Fang Zheng raised an eyebrow, looking at the fat pig in front of him, and inquired.

”There’s a shop... ah, it belongs to this gentleman here...”

Saying this, the fat pig gestured towards a man with a scar at the corner of his mouth, covered in a cloak nearby.

”He reported that your group forcibly took an employee from his shop... You should know that the Kingdom strictly prohibits slave trade. So, by doing this, aren’t you violating the Kingdom’s laws?”

”What nonsense are you talking about!”

Before Fang Zheng could speak, Megumin jumped up first.

”That girl was about to die! We saved her. How is this a slave trade? You are simply lying with your eyes open!”

”Megumin.”

Fang Zheng gestured with his hand, signaling Megumin to be quiet.

”So, what now?”

”What you’ve done is undoubtedly criminal, but the shop is willing to be lenient. Of course, you need to pay some compensation and handling fees...”

”Heh.”

Before the fat pig could finish, Fang Zheng interrupted him with a cold laugh.

”Enough with the nonsense. I know what you’re here for, so I’ll come right out with it.”

As he spoke, Fang Zheng pointed at the two people in front of him.

”I’ll give you a choice. Either crawl back with your tails between your legs, or get ready for complete destruction. You can go back and tell your master that the Eight Fingers are nothing to me. But if rats scurry around where I can see them, it’s quite the eyesore.”

”W-what did you say?!”

Hearing this, the fat pig stood up angrily.

”How dare you threaten me? A mere adventurer dares to threaten the capital’s Sheriff? Do you realize you’re opposing the Kingdom?”

”Heh, a country that’s less than a fingernail to me doesn’t matter. Now, you can leave!”

At this point, Fang Zheng snorted coldly, and then the Dragon Might suddenly burst forth. Feeling this terrifying Dragon Might that chilled the soul, the fat pig and the scarred man beside him screamed and fled the inn in a panic.

”Hmph.”

Watching the door close again, Fang Zheng snorted lightly.

”Sir Knight, are you sure this is okay?”

The Priestess of the Goddess was somewhat uneasy beside him. After all, she was just a small adventurer, and the other party represented the country. Although that fat pig’s gaze had made the Priestess uncomfortable, antagonizing a nation might bring unforeseen consequences...

”Does it matter? This is exactly what we should do!”

In contrast to the Priestess of the Goddess, Megumin was excitedly jumping up and down.

”That’s right, it’s just a small Kingdom. No match for our might! Let’s go blow up the Royal Palace right now...”

”Stay put, will you?”

Fang Zheng grabbed Megumin’s head and pushed her back into her chair.

”You can act when it’s time for you to act. For now, sit tight... Ais.”

Hearing Fang Zheng call her name, Ais, who was tending to her weapon in the corner, looked up at Fang Zheng.

”Get ready. We’re leaving here now. You all are responsible for protecting that girl.”

”Where are we going?”

Listening to Fang Zheng’s command, the Priestess of the Goddess asked curiously.

”We’ll figure it out once we’re out. The other side might mobilize the Kingdom Army to cause us trouble. After all, we’re just adventurers. If they insist we’ve broken the law and attempt to arrest us, it could be a small problem... In any case, we’ll leave here first, then see what they choose.”

Meanwhile, at the underground Great Tomb, others were also taking action.

”The Kingdom has decided to take advantage of tonight, as the power of the Eight Fingers wanes, to completely eliminate this underground organization.”

The High-Rank Demon adjusted his glasses and then continued.

”Lord Ainz, I believe this is an opportunity to allow our Great Tomb of Nazarick to replace the Eight Fingers and become the largest underground force in this nation.”

”Hmm...”

The Lich sitting on the throne pondered for a moment before speaking.

”Are you sure this is okay? We still have no clue about how Natsuriya was killed. To act rashly in this situation, are you certain there won’t be any problems?”

”There will be some risks, but rest assured, we have made thorough preparations.”

Saying this, the High-Rank Demon in a suit smiled slightly.

”Besides, no one can get away with killing a member of our Great Tomb of Nazarick. Please trust me, I already have a strategy to deal with those threats and enemies who have killed a member of our Tomb. Additionally, if we can control the underground forces of this Kingdom, Lord Ainz’s intelligence network will be more secure.”

”Hmm...”

Hearing the High-Rank Demon’s response, the Lich fell silent again.

Frankly speaking, the Lich had not intended to act so recklessly. Natsuriya’s death made it very tense and worried. But as the High-Rank Demon stated, going into combat without any knowledge of the opponent would be too careless. Taking some risks for the sake of intelligence might be necessary...

”Alright, I understand.”

With this in mind, the Lich made a decision.

”Then, I leave it to you, Demiurge.”

”Yes, Supreme Sovereign.”

Hearing the Lich’s command, the High-Rank Demon bowed deeply.

”Please leave it to me, Supreme Sovereign. I will bring victory and glory to you.”
