Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 1682: Chapter 1680: The Uninvited Guest (Gradually Becoming Hopelessly Catlike)

Here we are.

Looking at the silhouette of the castle in the distance, the black-haired woman revealed a cold smile. She extended her tongue and licked the sharp blade in her hand.

”That’s the place the employer mentioned, isn’t it? Really unprepared.”

The black-haired woman’s name is Elsa, a very famous assassin from the West. She enjoys cutting open people’s stomachs and playing with their intestines, which earned her the nickname Gut Hunter.

And this time, Elsa received a mission from her employer.

A task that was very relaxing for her.

It was a massacre at the target location.

The employer had no requirements, only marked the location and told her to kill as many people inside as possible, with the reward based on the number.

To Elsa, this counted as the best commission.

”Originally, I thought it was a noble, but it turned out to be so unguarded.”

Glancing around, Elsa let out a cold laugh.

No guards, no defenses, no scouts. There wasn’t even a patrol visible near the castle. Did they expect to block her like this? Ridiculous. She was eager to enter the castle and play with the warm intestines of the people inside... Though she didn’t know why the strange employer gave her such a peculiar request, in the end, Elsa liked tasks without specific targets.

Thinking of this, Elsa bent down, stealthily like a wolf, hid in waist-high grass, and then swiftly sped forward———only to be stopped by a wire fence.

”Private ground, no entry for outsiders?”

Looking at the board hanging above, Elsa couldn’t help but chuckle softly.

What nonsense is this?

Do they expect me to see a sign and obediently go back?

Ridiculous!

Elsa quickly flipped over the wire fence and moved forward again———only to encounter another wire fence.

”High voltage danger?”

What does this mean?

Looking at the sign hanging on the wire fence in front of her, Elsa paused for a moment, but didn’t hesitate, instead reaching out and grabbing the wire...

”————!!!”

A high-voltage current instantly erupted, striking Elsa heavily. Elsa clenched the wire fence tightly, her body shaking under the electric shock, until after a while, she finally let go and fell to the ground.

”Ugh... damn it, is this a trap? Why didn’t I sense any magical fluctuations?”

Fortunately, Elsa wasn’t human, so she wasn’t burnt to a crisp. But even so, she was in a sorry state. Her clothes were in tatters, her jet-black hair stood straight, and her fair face was scorched pitch black.

”Damn it!”

Seeing her pathetic condition, Elsa was also furious. If this was magic, why couldn’t she feel any magical fluctuations? Damn... But with just this, trying to stop her is... wishful thinking!

With this thought, Elsa sneered coldly, then reversed her grip on the dagger and slashed forward. The blade flashed, and in an instant, the high-voltage wire fence was split in half. Elsa leapt through the gap and sprinted forward.

Just some small tricks!

Although she said this, Elsa quickened her pace. Even if she didn’t know what that power-generating thing was, Elsa understood that breaking it might alert the people in the castle. But it didn’t matter, as long as she arrived before they noticed. Even if they did, she could still blend in!

”Click.”

But at this moment, Elsa suddenly heard a soft ”click” from underfoot.

What’s this? What did I step on?

Before Elsa could react, a violent explosion suddenly erupted, engulfing her.

”Boom!!!”

With a fierce explosion, Elsa’s body was blown away, heavily crashing to the ground.

”My leg!! Ah!!!”

Only then did Elsa realize her right leg was riddled with holes, crushed to pieces! And the rest of her body was full of bleeding holes. If Elsa had been human, she would have died from the explosion!

But Elsa’s current situation wasn’t good either.

”Damn it...!”

Elsa reached out her hand and saw that the center of her palm held a steel ball. During the explosion just now, these steel balls also erupted in all directions, with some heading straight for Elsa’s head. Fortunately, Elsa’s reaction was quick enough at that time, otherwise her head might have already burst open.

At that time, even if Elsa had a physical quality far superior to humans, she would still have died.

”Those bastards... what on earth are these things?!”

Elsa was completely puzzled. She knew about magic traps, but logically, magic traps should emit a magical wave. Yet the strange barbed wire and odd bombs showed no trace of magical aura, before or during their activation.

This was troubling, considering there was still some distance to the castle! Elsa wasn’t sure if there would be more traps ahead. If such traps were everywhere, choosing to approach the castle from here would be a foolish choice!

Now Elsa had two choices: retreat or continue forward. Rationally speaking, retreating was a good choice, but Elsa wasn’t sure if she could retreat. She had ventured a distance into the second layer of barbed wire and wasn’t sure if there were any traps that would explode if stepped on behind her.

In the end, Elsa chose to move forward.

Although her injuries were severe, fortunately, Elsa was not human. She had a Dhampir’s physical quality, which granted her strong regenerative abilities and physical prowess. In fact, though her injuries were serious, Elsa didn’t take long to recover physically.

Of course, the bullets embedded in her body weren’t easy to remove, but this wouldn’t affect Elsa’s actions.

Eventually, Elsa made her decision.

Keep going!

After all, the previous explosion would surely alert the people in the castle. She had to reach the target location before that! As such, there was still a chance!

But Elsa dared not continue forward like before. After the electrically charged barbed wire came the explosive magic traps—who knows what she’d encounter next. However, this didn’t daunt her, as Elsa had other options.

”Splash.”

Dragging her pained body, Elsa quickly moved across the other side of the grassland and plunged into a nearby lake. The icy water enveloped her, bringing some relief to her previously aching body.

”Huff... let’s advance like this.”

Elsa was well aware; she had observed earlier that this lake was quite close to the castle. As long as she could swim across, she should be able to reach in the shortest time possible. In fact, enhanced Dhampir eyesight allowed Elsa to clearly see several maids seemingly doing laundry on the opposite shore. This meant reaching the other side should be safe.

Watch me!

With that thought, Elsa dove into the lake, swimming to the opposite shore at full speed.

She was already imagining, once she got to the other side, the first thing would be slicing open the maids’ bellies, watching their warm intestines spill out, then... Just imagining it filled Elsa with newfound energy!

But was strange to Elsa that she hadn’t seen any fish in the lake—a wonder if there were none here?

Of course, the thought only briefly flashed through Elsa’s mind, but soon she felt a powerful magic force gathering above her!

Wait, what happened? Was she discovered?

What a joke!

Elsa was shocked and hurriedly swam to the surface. Just as she poked her head out and looked up, a voice rang in her ear.

”... With the power of the pitch black I command, explode, destroy! Annihilate all, turning everything to nothingness—Explosion!”

Wait, that’s burst...

Realizing this, Elsa’s eyes widened in surprise. Unfortunately, before she could react further, a massive flame descended from the sky, swallowing both Elsa and the lake completely.

”Boom!!!”

Then, a pillar of water shot skyward.

”Huff......”

An exhausted Megumin collapsed to the ground, then closed her eyes contentedly.

”So satisfying...”

”Heh, satisfying, is it?”

Fang Zheng stood with his arms crossed, eyes like dead fish, staring at Megumin.

”Did you forget what I told you before?”

”Uh... uh...”

Hearing Fang Zheng’s inquiry, Megumin froze for a moment, then broke out in a cold sweat.

”Wait, wait.......”

”Do you think I’ll let you off? Just take it like a good girl!”

”Wait, I was wrong, I really was wrong! Next time, next time I’ll definitely—hahaha, no good, it tickles... ah, help, help... Wait, where are you touching... help..........!!”
