From Arsenal to the Ball God

Chapter 321: Chapter 99: Big Six Pilgrimage—Chelsea! Chasing a Perfect Month! Success Isn’t Enough; Become Immortal! (Part 2)

Ma’el nodded slightly after hearing this, realizing that Arsenal is indeed a threat to Chelsea’s bid to become the ’face of London’.

In fact, over the past decade, they have indeed been the more successful one, with a growing trend to replace Arsenal.

But since he has come here, he must strive to change all of this, and let his team once again stand at the top of London.

”But it’s okay.”

An assistant coach added, ”Chelsea fans are only hostile towards us, without contempt or other attitudes; they generally directly insult Tottenham.”

”Hahaha...!” A burst of laughter erupted on the bus, as the players laughed and entered the Stanford Bridge Stadium, ready to face the big match.

Ma’el closed his eyes to calm his emotions, hoping they could successfully get past this big6 team.

...

”Buzz buzz...!”

At Stanford Bridge Stadium, as the game neared, the players started warming up, and the stadium gradually became noisy.

Arsenal’s traveling fans had all taken their seats in advance, wearing jerseys from various seasons of the team, some even dating back to the 98 season, including away and third away kits... And of course, some wore casual attire.

”Go Arsenal!”

”Victory!”

”Beat Chelsea!”

The fans, both anxious and excited, stood in their seats without intending to sit down, many placing their hands around their mouths to shout to the warming-up players.

They were of different ages and colors, but gathered together as Arsenal fans, sharing the same expectations!

Undefeated in a single month!

It’s an important achievement without any crowns, something the team hadn’t achieved in years, and the fans were holding their breath, hoping to fulfill it today.

And above them, in front of the luxuriously decorated box areas, there were a few rows of VIP seats.

This is a common design in every stadium, where the wealthy who purchase box tickets can choose to watch the match within the box with fine wine, or feel the lively atmosphere outside.

Abramovich preferred sitting outside, and this day, he leaned on the railing with his female assistant, eagerly awaiting the kickoff.

At this moment, he hadn’t grown a thick beard, nor did he appear haggard, his light blond hair made him look like the amiable neighborly uncle.

”He’s here.”

Abramovich patted his assistant’s shoulder, got up to greet the circle of dignitaries around him, and walked towards the box.

Upon entering the box, he spread his arms with a smile towards the man on the sofa, ”Welcome to my turf, Mr. Mendes.”

”How many times have we met?”

Mendes walked up to hug him and said uncertainly, ”I can’t remember, I’ve rarely come since Mourinho left.”

Ah Bu also forgot, shrugged, and didn’t continue the topic, sat down, and opened a bottle of liquor, ”Ready to watch my team defeat Arsenal here?”

”Haha.” Mendes laughed twice, glanced at Ma’el warming up on the field, and said, ”If possible, I wish for a draw; neither you nor I would be embarrassed.”

”It won’t be a draw.”

Abramovich confidently shook his head, poured a drink for Mendes, took a breath preparing to say something.

”Hold it.” Mendes gestured to stop, already guessing what he was about to say, ”You told me, it’s just to watch a match, I’ve expressed many times that the player currently has no intention of leaving Arsenal.”

Abramovich paused for a moment while pouring, but his face remained expressionless, slightly smiling, ”The player wants a championship, right?

”Then why does he think a team with pitifully little investment has a better chance of winning a championship than a team with significant annual investment?

”The past ten years of results between the two clubs also prove this, don’t they?

”Since there’s hope for winning the championship at either club, why not do it at Chelsea with a lot of money?

”I’ve long said, if he’s willing to leave, I can offer him the most lucrative contract in the history of the English league.”

Mendes picked up the glass, took a sip, and said, ”I can answer that, from my perspective, but you can’t get mad.”

Seeing Abramovich shaking his head, Mendes said earnestly, ”Because compared to becoming a Chelsea legend, becoming an Arsenal legend is obviously more alluring, and not just by a little.

”If Mr. Abramovich were also a player in the early stages of his career, and possessing the ability to change games... then you’d certainly be more inclined to help Arsenal win honors.”

Abramovich swirled his wine glass, pondering Mendes’s words, while putting himself in Ma’el’s shoes.

But he quickly frowned and shook his head indicating he didn’t understand; their positions were different, identities and everything else were different, so how could he truly empathize.

”Firstly, it’s Arsenal’s heritage.”

Mendes spoke while observing Abramovich’s expression, to make sure he’d hit the brakes before angering him, ”Does Mr. Abramovich agree with this? Arsenal is the team with more heritage, more like a top club.

”They are a legend in English football, having never been relegated since entering the top league, and are also a legend in world football... Of course, not everyone acknowledges this point.”

Abramovich’s expression remained indifferent, but he didn’t directly oppose it aloud.

”Let’s take a step back.”

Mendes sipped another drink and said, ”Countless great pioneers have brought this club to the brink of ’legendary status’, now they just need one last push.”
