From Arsenal to the Ball God

Chapter 315: Chapter 97: Judging the Situation Upgraded to Level 4! The Massacre Begins! Didier Deschamps’ Lament!

After getting past the goalkeeper, he gently pushed the ball into the net!

Goal number 2!

goals and 2 assists!

Five to zero!

”Aahh...!!” The Arsenal fans in the away fan section went wild, while the Clément family of five in the Marseille fan section started their performance again. If they had a ’performing’ skill level, it would surely be at Level 2 by now.

This time, Ma’el didn’t celebrate excessively. He saw the hometown team’s fans glaring at him, as if they would no longer tolerate him just because of his identity if he made another move.

However, with nowhere to release his excitement, he executed a combo of punches in place, replicating Rooney’s celebration move in this stadium.

”You should thank me!” Van Persie ran over and said something inexplicable.

Ma’el looked at him in confusion, but fortunately, Van Persie explained immediately: ”Jimmy used to be a strong defender, but it’s thanks to people like us who wore him out that you young guys can play so easily.”

”Haha....”

Ma’el burst into laughter, realizing Van Persie was even worse at making jokes, and replied: ”What’s it got to do with you guys wearing out the veterans? I’m just young.”

They then enjoyed another round of laughter; it truly was a beautiful afternoon.... The photographers by the sidelines aimed their cameras at them, capturing many memorable moments.

Only Deschamps stood gloomily by the sidelines. This resilient middle-aged man from the Basque Country, who jokingly called himself the Basque Pig, seemed to age significantly, having come to terms with many things.

...

In the 71st minute of the game, after being impacted by Ma’el, Jimite Kaole lost his cool and brought down Walcott, who was already on a solo break, in the penalty area.

”Beep!”

The referee pointed to the penalty spot and awarded a penalty, giving a red card to the veteran who had been on the field for less than 20 minutes.

Deschamps pouted and spread his hands, his face scrunched up as he turned away, not wanting to look at the field anymore.

Even at this moment, he remained in a state of bewilderment.....much like his team.

Normally highly competitive, he surprisingly found some solace in the thought that ’a red card might be a good thing,’ as conceding another goal would at least have a more acceptable excuse.

Jimmy Traore quickly walked off, looking utterly defeated, not exchanging a word with Deschamps, heading straight into the locker room.

”Bang!”

Van Persie then successfully took the penalty, not only completing his hat-trick but also extending the score to six to zero!

Disaster!

A profound sadness welled up in Deschamps, not just because of the score but also because he felt everything had fallen out of his control.

In this match, they performed no tactics, and whether offensively or defensively, the team was in shambles!

This was unlike a team that had ever achieved success, unlike a team led by a top coach!

He blamed himself so much that he had no mind for anything else, entirely engulfed in sadness he couldn’t escape.

”Beep beep!”

In the 76th minute of the game, the substitution board went up, and Ma’el, Van Persie, and Walcott were all subbed off together.

It seemed Wenger couldn’t bear to see Deschamps in such a state anymore and decided to show some mercy, also protecting key players.

In the 91st minute of the game, Arteta was still excitedly dribbling forward, weaving past two Marseille players who had lost their will to play, and slotted a pass into the penalty area.

Arshavin followed through and hammered the ball into the goal’s right side.

Seven to zero!

Sprite!

Arteta completed a hat-trick of assists!

”Clap clap clap.....” The stunned Arsenal fans started applauding. If they celebrated ecstatically again, they feared they might not make it back to the United Kingdom.

Then, even louder applause broke out, and the remaining one or two thousand Marseille fans at the scene surprisingly applauded Wenger’s team, shedding their identity as Marseille fans.

It was purely in acknowledgment of a powerful team led by a Frenchman....they were in awe.

”Clap clap.....!”

The Clément family also seized this moment to release their emotions, clapping their hands vigorously as each person exhaled a long breath.

It had been pent-up for a whole match!

Thank you for the compassionate and generous Marseille fans!

On the sidelines, Wenger, hearing the applause, pretended to scratch his forehead to cover his eyes, feeling a bit shy, unsure how to face his good friend Deschamps.

He knew Marseille was not showing their true strength, but the opposition had clearly not made effective adjustments after conceding goals... Deschamps still lacked experience in some areas, like dealing with a collapse.

Thinking of this, Wenger shook his head again. When a team collapses collectively, it seems no one can turn it around.

Lessons must be learned to avoid such situations in future matches.

”Beep! Beep! Beep——!”

The referee then blew three long whistles, signaling the end of the match in a state of complete silence.

The score was seven to zero.
