Twin Treasures: The CEO Wife's 99-Day of Revelations

Chapter 586: Chapter 586: Didn’t You Say You’d Never Forget?

”Thank you, Monica, for your concern. My mother is recovering quickly after the surgery.” Gratitude filled her heart towards Monica.

”That’s good.” Monica Usher, with a strong sense of purpose, quickly got to the point, ”Do you have time now? Let’s have a cup of coffee together. I’ll wait for you.” After speaking, she hung up the phone.

Not giving Barbara Sutton any chance to refuse.

This was Monica Usher’s cleverness because she knew Barbara Sutton would definitely come.

But Barbara Sutton really didn’t want to go; she had just been rejected after confessing her feelings, and her mood was understandably terrible.

Yet, Monica Usher had been good to the Sutton family.

Barbara Sutton had no choice but to pull herself together, go to the next office to ask Special Assistant Morgan for a short leave, and then leave, without mentioning the reason.

Several minutes later, at the Listening Café situated between the two companies.

When Barbara Sutton entered, Monica Usher was already there.

She had ordered two lattes, smiling at the girl approaching, ”What’s the matter? You don’t look too well?”

”Nothing.” Barbara Sutton forced a smile and sat down across from her.

”Have you been too tired recently? Did you start work immediately after coming back from the county without any rest?”

Barbara Sutton shook her head, ”I’m fine. Why did you ask me out? I’ve been quite busy with work lately and can’t stay long.”

”Me too.” Monica Usher said with a smile, ”Have a cup of coffee and then go. I’ll drive you back later.”

”No need, I’ll just take a cab myself.” Barbara Sutton declined.

And Monica Usher seemed to understand something, ”Oh, okay.” She was avoiding suspicion.

But she could still see Barbara’s bad mood, and Monica Usher carefully observed her expression, ”Have you been crying? What’s wrong exactly?”

Being asked, Barbara Sutton felt suffocated inside.

Her mind was full of Finn Morgan’s image, ”I... I confessed to him.”

”Finn Morgan?”

”Yes.”

”What did he say?” But seeing her current state, Monica Usher already had the answer in her heart.

With a deep sigh, she suddenly understood what Barbara Sutton was feeling at the moment.

A rejected confession... how similar it was to her own experience?

Love, since ancient times, has been like this; most love without reciprocation, mutual affection is a miracle.

”It’s truly not easy to meet someone who makes your heart flutter.” Monica Usher comforted her, ”Having the courage to confess means no regrets, right?”

”It’s more comfortable than keeping it inside, but... there’s also disappointment.” Barbara Sutton still felt sad. Who wouldn’t want to be with the one they love?

”Leave it to time.” Monica Usher felt like she had moved on.

After a while, she asked again, ”And what about him and Hailey Hale? How are they doing?”

”I asked if he had a fiancée, and he said yes.” Barbara Sutton was a bit confused, ”But there’s a rumor in the company that he and Hailey Hale are getting married soon, yet Hailey herself denies it. I really can’t figure out their relationship.”

Monica Usher felt bewildered hearing this. Getting married soon?

Barbara Sutton added, ”They probably don’t have that kind of relationship, but Hailey Hale is indeed living in his house.”

Monica Usher thought of that girl Hailey Hale, and there was an unsettled score! She hadn’t forgotten and would settle it someday!

Everyone’s time was limited.

So she quickly changed the subject, asking, ”And Justin Kingston? How has he been lately?”

Barbara Sutton looked up at her, feeling a tinge of alertness inside. This was the main purpose of her asking her out, wasn’t it?

Monica Usher smiled, half-jokingly, half-seriously, ”Didn’t you say before that my great kindness will be unforgettable? What? I just asked this question, and you don’t want to answer?”
