Stockpiling for an Exiled General Through My Store's Back Door

Chapter 101: Chapter 101: Pinky Promise

Ling Qianjun followed Hua Buwan’s gaze and looked up.

”There’s a giant bird flying in the sky!” Ling Qianjun knew that to be able to see the bird’s silhouette from such a distance meant it was massive. It might even rival the legendary Kunpeng!

He couldn’t help but recite a line from the classic text Xiaoyaoyou: ”In the northern darkness, there is a fish, and its name is Kun. The Kun is so huge...”

Before he could finish the sentence, Hua Buwan immediately chimed in, ”The Kun is so huge, a single pot cannot stew it.”

”Huh?” Ling Qianjun furrowed his brows and turned to look at Hua Buwan in suspicion.

Hua Buwan looked at his expression and couldn’t hold back. PFFT! She burst into laughter. ”Sorry, that’s just a joke we modern people like to say. But honestly, after remembering this version, I actually forgot what the original line was.”

It suddenly dawned on Ling Qianjun. He smiled and said, ”The Kun is so huge, I know not how many thousands of miles it measures.”

”Ah, right, right, right, that’s the one. I remember now,” Hua Buwan hurriedly nodded in agreement.

Ling Qianjun’s gaze was still glued to the airplane in the sky. Hua Buwan gathered her thoughts and began to explain it to him.

”What you’re seeing isn’t a giant bird or a Kunpeng, but an airplane—a vehicle that can fly in the sky. The wings are designed using Bernoulli’s principle, which makes the air flow faster over the top and slower underneath, thereby creating lift. Later, I’ll download some videos on your phone. It’ll be easier to understand when you watch them.”

Hua Buwan shared the key points she could remember. Ling Qianjun absorbed the new knowledge like a sponge and asked curiously, ”Are you saying this giant bird... this airplane can carry people into the sky?”

Hua Buwan smiled and nodded. ”Yes, it can. And airplanes fly incredibly fast. In two hours, they can travel about 1,500 to 2,000 kilometers.”

”Two thousand kilometers in two hours?!”

Ling Qianjun did some mental calculations. That meant if they took an airplane, they would reach their exile destination after just a short nap. It was as fast as a flash of lightning! He became even more fascinated.

Hua Buwan pondered for a moment, then looked at Ling Qianjun seriously and said, ”Once you reach Lingnan and settle down, and you have enough time, how about I take you on an airplane ride?”

She figured that since Ling Qianjun didn’t have an ID card, taking a commercial flight wouldn’t work. But what about a private jet? As long as she had money, it could be arranged. She wasn’t short on cash now, so spending a fortune on Ling Qianjun meant nothing to her. Besides, the money was brought in by him anyway. She was more than willing to part with it.

Upon hearing this, Ling Qianjun grabbed Hua Buwan’s arm in disbelief and asked excitedly, ”Really?! Buwan, can you really take me on an airplane? I can fly in the sky too?”

Ling Qianjun couldn’t even fathom the scene of himself sitting in that airplane and looking out at the scenery. He wondered if the air up there would be fresh, if he could reach out and touch the clouds, and if he could gather a cloud into a bottle to bring back for his mother and younger siblings. Furthermore, flying that high, could he stand shoulder to shoulder with the sun? Could he sit back to back with the moon?

Ling Qianjun’s imagination ran wild, and he even thought about...

Hua Buwan had no idea his imagination was so rich, nor did she know what he was thinking at this moment. She answered affirmatively, ”Of course it’s true. When the time comes, I’ll take you on a plane. I’ll send you up to the heavens!”

With that, Hua Buwan extended her pinky finger. ”Let’s pinky swear.”

”Alright. Pinky swear,” Ling Qianjun chuckled and hooked his pinky with hers.

”Pinky swear, cross my heart, for a hundred years we won’t part.”

”Sealed!”

Under a warm patch of sunlight, the two of them sitting on the pink electric scooter looked exceptionally radiant.
