Stockpiling for an Exiled General Through My Store's Back Door

Chapter 122: Chapter 122: Selling Medicinal Herbs

After returning to the supermarket with the herbs, Hua Buwan sat down to rest for a moment before grabbing a change of clothes to wash up.

She had gotten completely covered in dirt in the woods just now, and her clothes and hands were caked in mud. After experiencing this, her desire to improve her combat skills and learn some martial arts grew even stronger. She couldn’t let Ling Qianjun take the lead every time. Even though he was a General with high combat prowess, he wasn’t her bodyguard, and she couldn’t rely on him forever. Moreover, they might not always be in the same place. As the saying goes, rely on a mountain and it crumbles, rely on a person and they run away; ultimately, she had to rely on herself.

In the modern world, she could enroll in a class. If she was going to learn, she had to learn the real deal—flashy but useless moves wouldn’t do. She needed to keep an eye out for a good instructor. As for the ancient world, she could perhaps ask Ling Qianjun to teach her. Learning how to wield a sword or a dagger would be great too. She definitely had to put this on her agenda.

Setting these thoughts aside for now, Hua Buwan stared at the ginseng, Lingzhi, and Astragalus propinquus laid out on the table and fell into deep thought. If she wanted to sell these items for a good price, she needed to find people who were in need of them and knew their true value. If she just casually asked around at random pharmacies or herbal shops, she probably wouldn’t get a good price and might even get scammed. These were absolutely authentic wild herbs of a very good age, and she absolutely couldn’t afford to sell them at a loss.

There was another point that Hua Buwan was extremely curious about. These herbs were brought back from a thousand years ago. Would they, like the antiques from before, gain an additional thousand years of age after passing through the Any Door? However, she stared at the herbs for quite a while without noticing any changes in them. She leaned in for a sniff but didn’t feel that their scent was any richer than before. It seemed they hadn’t gained a thousand years of age.

Not dwelling on questions she couldn’t figure out, Hua Buwan took out her phone and started scrolling through her WhatsApp contacts. While washing up earlier, she had mentally gone through a list of people she could approach and who she could sell the herbs to. Ultimately, she could only think of Mr. Feng Chengde and Grandma Wen Erya. Between her family background and the connections she had made during her school years, those two were from the highest social class. The only others she knew were her college roommates and classmates, but none of her classmates lived around here, and there was no need for her to travel that far.

Therefore, Mr. Feng and Grandma Wen were her best options. Since the end of the last auction and giving them the longans, Hua Buwan hadn’t contacted them.

Opening Grandma Wen’s WhatsApp chat, Hua Buwan felt a little hesitant, mainly out of embarrassment. Although the two elders were very kind people, they weren’t close to that extent. At most, they were just ordinary friends. Taking a deep breath, Hua Buwan organized her words, typed out her messages, and sent them over.

Hua Buwan: ”Grandma Wen, it’s been a few days since we last met! Do you still remember me? I’m Buwan.”

Hua Buwan: ”Hehe, I wouldn’t be reaching out if I didn’t need a favor. I have something to ask you. Do you happen to know any experienced practitioners of traditional Chinese medicine or herbal shop owners who know their stuff? A relative of mine picked some wild herbs from the deep mountains back in their hometown and wants to sell them, but they don’t know any experts. I figured you might know someone, so I decided to be thick-skinned and ask.”

Hua Buwan knew that some people disliked receiving a simple ”Are you there?” with no follow-up context. Since she was asking for a favor, it was better to cut straight to the chase and state her purpose.

After sending the messages, Hua Buwan anxiously kept refreshing her phone, waiting for Grandma Wen’s reply. To her surprise, she only had to wait two minutes before receiving a response.
