Stockpiling for an Exiled General Through My Store's Back Door

Chapter 137: Chapter 137: Fake Water Source

Ling Qianjun and Ling Qianfan hunched over, slipping silently from the crowd like two agile cats. They tightly gripped two bags of water, their eyes scanning the surroundings warily, terrified of being discovered.

They trotted along the mountain path, staying as close to the edge as possible to use the terrain to cover their movements. The uneven rock formations provided excellent concealment. Their footsteps sounded exceptionally loud on the quiet path, every step heavy with tension and anticipation. Realizing this, Ling Qianjun immediately signaled Ling Qianfan to keep quiet, doing his best to lighten his own footsteps as well.

After running for a distance, they reached a relatively secluded spot. A large boulder sat there, perfectly serving as a hiding place. They ducked behind it. Ling Qianfan panted nervously, an excited smile spreading across his face.

”Are you ready?” Ling Qianjun asked in a low voice.

”Ready!” Ling Qianfan nodded, his eyes determined.

Ling Qianjun took out a small trowel he had taken from the supermarket and began digging a hole by the mountainside. They were going to pour the water into it to create the illusion of a natural spring. He dug vigorously, beads of sweat forming on his forehead, but his gaze remained resolute. ℴ

Before long, he finished digging a medium-sized hole. They carefully poured the water into it. As the water pooled and slowly seeped into the soil, it looked exactly as if it were bubbling up from underground.

Ling Qianfan looked at their masterpiece and smiled in satisfaction.

Afterward, they hid the trowel and took out a small wooden bucket that Ling Qianjun had previously requested from a government officer. He emptied the second bag of water into the bucket, filling it to the brim instantly. Ling Qianjun then shoved the empty plastic bags to Ling Qianfan for him to hide.

With everything ready, Ling Qianjun gave Ling Qianfan a look, and Ling Qianfan immediately understood.

Ling Qianfan’s voice echoed across the empty mountainside. ”Come quickly! Qianjun struck water! Qianjun found a water source!”

Just then, a flurry of footsteps came from behind them. Ling Qianjun and Ling Qianfan watched quietly as a figure stumbled over. It was one of the exiled prisoners, who had dashed over the moment he heard the shout.

When the exiled prisoner saw the water on the ground, he immediately fell to his knees and wailed wildly. ”Oh, Heavens, You have finally opened Your eyes! Though we couldn’t pray for rain, we prayed for a spring! Thank You, Heavens, thank You!”

”THUD! THUD! THUD!” The man kowtowed heavily against the ground several times.

Hearing his cries, the others excitedly followed close behind. When they finally reached the water source, everyone erupted into cheers. The clear water sparkled in the moonlight, like a glowing pearl amidst the drought.

”This is wonderful! We finally found water!” someone said excitedly.

”Yes, this is truly life-saving water!” another person cried out, wiping away tears while hugging the person next to him.

Water was their most precious resource. Finding a spring meant they finally had hope of survival.

Hearing that a water source had appeared in this arid land, the government officers couldn’t wait either. They jumped up and ran over, overwhelmed with excitement. ”Is it true?” they asked as they ran, their faces brimming with excitement and anticipation, as if they had just seen the dawn of hope.

When they rushed to the source, they saw a stream of clear water welling up from underground, forming a small pool. The government officers cheered with joy, falling to their knees one after another to thank the Heavens for this blessing. They cupped the water in their hands, feeling its cool and nourishing touch, their hearts filled with joy and gratitude.

However, they soon realized something was wrong.
