Super Strong Little Divine Farmer

Chapter 746: Chapter 747: Planting Ginseng (Part Four)

Lin Chen chuckled and pointed to the backyard, then said to Erhei.

”What, making us till the land!” Suddenly, it was as if countless ’f*** your mother’ were galloping through the gangsters’ minds.

”We’re gangsters, being made to farm the land is just an insult.”

”Are you willing or not?” Lin Chen stared at Erhei with an icy gaze.

Facing Lin Chen’s cold stare, Erhei finally caved, ”Willing.”

As he spoke, he turned around and barked at his lackeys, ”What are you all standing around for? All of you, get back to the village, find tools, and get to work.”

Though the gangsters were extremely reluctant in their hearts, who would dare to disobey when the boss had spoken.

Before long, the gangsters, usually notorious in the countryside, had picked up hoes and enthusiastically started working in the backyard.

Li Fuyou watched the gangsters working the land in disbelief, how could this be possible.

These people usually strutted around more arrogantly than tailless dogs, but now they were being bossed around by Lin Chen like obedient sons.

While working, everyone grumbled about Er Gou.

”You little bastard, it’s bad enough you got a beating, but you made us all suffer with you.”

Er Gou looked wronged, ”How was I to know he was so badass, able to split stones with one palm? Unless your heads are tougher than stones, just work obediently.”

Lin Chen sat in the shade, sipping tea, and watching them sweat profusely, feeling quite content.

”Yu Qing, keep an eye on them. If anyone slacks off, tell me. I’ll sort them out when we get back,” Lin Chen said as the land was almost done being tilled.

”Alright? What are you going to do?” Li Yuqing asked curiously.

”I’m going to gather some ginseng seeds!” Saying this, Lin Chen stood up and walked towards the mountains.

That day, when he had been collecting the thousand-year ginseng, Lin Chen noticed there were quite a few ginseng plants in the crevices of the rocks.

Although not very old, there were also a few hundred-year-old ginseng plants.

The cliff was too steep, and since the ginseng grew in the rock crevices, it was difficult for ordinary people to find them, which let these ginseng plants grow quite well.

Before long, Lin Chen had collected quite a lot of ginseng, and also a good number of seeds.

Back at the clinic, the land had already been tilled by the gangsters. Lin Chen tossed a bag of seeds to Erhei.

Scatter all these seeds; remember, one plant per half a meter.

Erhei, wiping sweat, reflected that since childhood, he had never tended to his own family’s land, but today, here he was, planting for someone else.

However, everyone was daring but powerless to complain, after all, their heads weren’t as hard as stones.

Soon after, all the seeds were sown, and that’s when Erhei curiously asked, ”Brother Lin, what are you planting here?”

Lin Chen smiled, ”Ginseng!”

”Ginseng?” Hearing Lin Chen’s words, everyone laughed.

Though they had never farmed, they had all grown up in the countryside. They knew this land was saline-alkaline soil, very poor in quality, but growing ginseng required very stringent conditions, including soil quality, moisture, and even climate, which is why ginseng was so expensive.

”Brother Lin, I’m not trying to be disparaging, but this land can’t even support the easiest-to-grow crops like cabbage, let alone ginseng,” Erhei said with a laugh.

”Don’t worry, I have my ways. Take this money; the brothers have been busy all morning. Take everyone for a good meal at noon,” Lin Chen said, handing over a thousand yuan to Erhei.

Erhei was momentarily stunned; he had not expected Lin Chen to give them money, and hurriedly waved his hands, ”Brother Lin, that’s disrespecting your brothers. I, Erhei, have practiced martial arts since I was young, and I admire a martial arts master like you the most. These kids are idle anyway, it’s good for them to get some exercise. How could I take your money?”

Lin Chen, without another word, stuffed the money into Er Hei’s pocket, ”If you consider me a brother, just take this money. Oh, and leave me your number. When the ginseng is ready for harvest, I’ll need to trouble you guys to collect it for me.”

”This little thing? Piece of cake.” Er Hei grinned, leading everyone away.

At this time, Li Fuyou and Li Yuqing also arrived at the ginseng field.

Li Fuyou looked at the field and said speechlessly, ”Lin Chen, don’t say I didn’t warn you, you’d be better off selling these ginseng seeds. Throwing them in this field will only lead to them rotting away.”

Li Yuqing also said, ”Lin Chen, why don’t you ever listen? How can anything grow in this piece of land?”

Lin Chen looked at them with a confident smile, ”Don’t worry. Even if it’s saline-alkali soil, I can make treasures grow from it.”

Just as the three of them were chatting, several cars suddenly drove up to the gate. The first was a police car, followed by an Audi and a Mercedes.

”Did you guys call the police? Why are they here?” Lin Chen asked curiously.

”No!” Li Yuqing and Li Fuyou both had confused expressions on their faces.

Just then, Zhao Jingxue got out of the police car. A young man in a suit got out of the Audi behind her.

Lin Chen was taken aback, recognizing the young man in the suit as the one who had fainted that day.

”So, Zhao Jingxue has sold me out after all,” Lin Chen thought with frustration.

At that moment, the young man walked over to Lin Chen with a beaming smile, ”You must be Mr. Lin, right? Thank you for saving me.”

Lin Chen nodded and glanced at the young man, ”It’s nothing, just a helping hand. By the way, are you all healed up?”

The young man nodded, ”All good now. I just had a little bump that day and fainted. A bit of rest, and I was fine.”

”Oh, how’s your wife and child?” Lin Chen asked.

”Thanks to your prompt decision to deliver the baby, otherwise the doctors said not only the child might not have survived, but the adult was also in life-threatening danger,” the young man said.

At this point, Li Fuyou pulled Li Yuqing aside, ”Yuqing, that young man looks kind of familiar, doesn’t he?”

Li Yuqing rubbed her eyes and was suddenly stunned, ”Dad, he looks like Zhou Yong, the deputy mayor of Zhonghai City.”

Li Fuyou grabbed a newspaper from the table, which had his photo on the cover.

”Oh my god, it really is him.” Li Fuyou’s hands shook with excitement.

”Girl, what’s going on?” Li Fuyou asked quietly.

Li Yuqing quietly recounted what had happened that day, leaving Li Fuyou with his eyes wide in shock, ”My god, you guys actually saved the deputy mayor.”

At this moment, Zhou Yong was already sitting down, speaking to Lin Chen, ”Mr. Lin, you’re a life-saver for our family. Is there anything I can help you with?”

Lin Chen shook his head, ”I was just passing by that day. I think any citizen with a conscience would do the same.”

Zhou Yong nodded and handed Lin Chen a business card, ”In that case, give me a call if you need anything.”

With that, Zhou Yong stood up and said, ”I have other matters to attend to, so I won’t disturb you any longer. Once my wife has recovered from her postpartum period, we will come and thank you properly with our child.”

Lin Chen also stood up, ”Alright then, I won’t see you out.”

Watching Zhou Yong and the others leave, Lin Chen felt a bit annoyed inside, ”After all, I saved your whole family, and all you do is say thanks, without any gesture of gratitude. You could have at least given me a few hundred thousand.”

Lin Chen glanced at the business card and was suddenly stunned, ”Damn, the guy is actually a deputy mayor. He’s really too stingy.”

Just as Lin Chen was about to turn around and go back inside, he suddenly noticed that the police car and the Audi had driven away, but the brand new Mercedes was still parked at the door.
