Chapter 719: Chapter 720: I am Willing to Join (Twenty-seventh Update)

”If I’m not mistaken, their action is set for the night of the full moon on August 15, so we must destroy these three laboratories before they complete their experiment,” A Shi said with a grave expression.

”August 15, that’s in three days,” Lin Chen felt a tightness in his chest.

A Shi continued, ”They have the support of the military. The specific locations of these three bases are under a prison, under a laboratory, and under the military headquarters itself.”

”They are so audacious to openly establish a laboratory under the military headquarters,” Lin Chen now finally understood why Sha Kun had died.

Their base was right beneath the military headquarters. It would be too easy for them to sneak into the military and kill someone.

”We will take action tomorrow, hoping to see you then.”

Lin Chen nodded, ”I will definitely be there on time tomorrow.”

At that moment, Emon drove into a manor.

Two soldiers saw Emon standing straight and saluted him.

”Mr. Emon, you’ve come to play chess with General Kager again!” one soldier said with a smile.

”Yes, I’ve been quite busy lately, and only today did I have the time,” Emon said as he walked into the manor smiling.

In the garden, Kager was watering the plants. Seeing Emon, Kager smiled, ”Little Emon, you finally remembered to visit me.”

Emon smiled back, ”Here I am to see you, and I’ve brought your favorite Chinese roast duck.”

”Good, good, I’ve been craving this,” Kager said with a smile.

”Teacher, I have something to report to you,” Emon said gravely.

”Is the matter that serious? I seldom see you so earnest,” Kager said with a smile.

Emon nodded, ”It concerns the safety of our country, T, and even the entire world.”

”What is it?” Kager’s expression became solemn.

Emon handed Kager the notes Lin Chen had given him, ”Teacher, according to our investigation, the current military is conducting a certain secret research. It’s a very dangerous project and utterly inhumane. If their experiment is successful, it will have a huge impact on the world.”

”What? There’s such a thing?” Kager’s expression changed.

He put on his glasses and seriously started to go through the notes, his brows furrowing tightly.

”I had not imagined that the military would fall to this level,” Kager sighed.

”Teacher, I hope to use your prestige to report to the higher-ups and request the arrest of General Luo De, putting an end to this experiment,” Emon said earnestly.

Kager nodded, ”Although I have left the military, I absolutely will not allow such things to happen.”

”Wait a moment, I’ll make a few calls,” Kager said as he left the garden.

Half an hour later, Kager returned wearing a military uniform.

”Emon, let’s go to the military headquarters now. It’s time to straighten things out there,” Kager said in a stern voice.

Emon was thrilled and got into the car with Kager, heading straight for the military headquarters.

However, as Emon and Kager walked into the conference room, Emon suddenly felt that something was off.

The entire military headquarters was too quiet. It was supposed to be working hours, yet the hallway was eerily silent.

Emon stole a glance at his teacher, whose expression was very natural, as if everything was under control.

When the two entered the conference room, it was already filled with the military’s generals.

One of the empty seats was reserved for Emon, yet Kager occupied the position at the lower end of the table.

Seeing Kager did not take the seat of honor, sweat ran down Emon’s face.

All these officers were of a colonel’s rank or higher, and they all looked at Emon with hostility in their eyes.

A feeling of foreboding sank in Emon’s heart.

At that moment, the door to the conference room opened, and General Luo De entered slowly, seating himself in the main position.

General Luo De looked at Emon with a mocking smile and said, ”Are you surprised, astonished?”

Emon’s heart plummeted, never having imagined that his own mentor, the person he respected the most, would betray him.

Kager looked at Emon and smiled faintly, ”Little Emon, don’t blame me. I’m old and not ready to die; I don’t want to die. The Stone of Life has given me hope to continue living. In fact, I’ve always been a core member of this project.”

Emon clenched his fists tightly, not saying a word.

General Luo De said with a faint smile, ”How about it, feeling bitter? Everyone here is on our side, Emon. We have been striving for many years just for today. I admire you and hope you can join us. If you join us, you too can become immortal. Think about it, immortality, what a wonderful thing that is!”

At this moment, General Luo De’s words were filled with temptation, his gaze firmly fixed on Emon.

Kager also persuaded, ”Little Emon, what are you hesitating for? We will soon become the rulers of the world, even the superpowers will bow down to us. You won’t just have to be a general then; you could be an official of a country with no trouble at all.”

At this moment, the officers’ eyes all glowed with passion, while Emon listened in silence, his expression dark and grim.

”How about it, have you made up your mind? You only have three seconds to decide, those who follow me prosper, those who defy me perish!” General Luo De said, his gaze icy as he stared at Emon.

”One!”

”Two!”

At that moment, General Luo De’s hand rested on the hilt of his sword, and Emon knew that if he gave a negative answer, Luo De would not hesitate to strike.

Knowing General Luo De was far superior in strength, Emon reasoned that he would certainly not stand a chance if he chose to confront him right now.

Finally, Emon gritted his teeth and made his decision.

Just as General Luo De was about to utter ”Three,” Emon finally spoke, ”Alright, I agree to join you.”

Upon hearing Emon’s words, Kager breathed a sigh of relief, and General Luo De’s hand also moved away from the sword hilt.

”Emon, welcome to our ranks. This world will be ours; we shall enjoy eternal life and endless glory and wealth,” Kager said excitedly.

Leaving the conference room, Emon felt utterly disillusioned.

He had thought that only a few high-ranking military officials were involved in this project, but it turned out that the entire military leadership was part of the experiment.

What saddened Emon the most was that his own mentor, Kager, was also involved in this conspiracy.

At that moment, Emon’s phone rang.

Looking at the number on the screen, Emon hesitated for a moment but then answered the call.

”Hello, is this Autumn Moon Club? Has the Chinese girl I ordered arrived?” Emon said immediately after answering.

Lin Chen was about to discuss cooperation with the Dark Alliance but heard Emon blurt out something about a Chinese girl.

However, Lin Chen reacted quickly and responded, ”She’s here, and she looks very much like a Chinese movie star, you’ll definitely like her.”

”Really? Last time you also said she looked like a movie star, but damn, she turned out to be a forty-year-old auntie,” Emon retorted coldly.

”Really, this time it’s quality guaranteed,” Lin Chen said with a laugh.
