Harry Potter: Most Annoying System Ever

The walk from the abandoned second-floor bathroom to the Slytherin dungeons was a quiet victory lap. The castle was practically humming with the faint, lingering tension of the holiday drama, but Orion felt lighter than he had in weeks. The Gryffindor infiltration had been neutralized, the Polyjuice Potion was safely stowed in his Inventory, and the entrance to the Chamber of Secrets was confirmed.

”Sparkle,” Orion murmured, descending the final flight of stone stairs into the gloom. ”Show me the damage.”

The blue interface snapped into existence, glowing brightly against the damp dungeon walls. It looked like a digital marquee.

”Oh, yes,” Sparkle chimed, her voice bouncing with celebratory static. ”Christmas came early for the loot goblin. You have one appetizer and three main courses. Let’s start with the popcorn.”

[ ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED! ]

Tier: 1 (Basic)

Name: The Snake Pit Trap

Description: You successfully lured the Gryffindor infiltration team into the heart of Slytherin territory and completely neutralized their master plan without lifting a finger (except for when you caught them). You sat back, watched the Polyjuice fail spectacularly, and enjoyed the show while the Deputy Headmistress stripped them of their dignity.

Reward: 1x Endless Bucket of Caramel Popcorn (Refills automatically. Perfect for watching drama unfold).

Orion smirked, mentally checking his grid. The bucket was there, overflowing with golden, sticky kernels. ”A classic movie theater snack. Appropriate, given the theatrics.”

”Now,” Sparkle’s interface shifted to a gleaming silver border. ”The Tier 2 drops. These are the heavy hitters.”

[ ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED! ]

Tier: 2 (Advanced)

Name: The Gaslight Masterclass (Partial Success)

Description: You attempted to convince the Protagonist and his sidekick that their best friend, the brightest witch of her age, was actually the mastermind behind a millennia-old blood-purist terror campaign. Unfortunately, while Crabbe and Goyle would have bought it, Potter and Weasley are too stubbornly attached to their own narrative to believe you. You remain the primary antagonist in their eyes. Better luck next time.

Reward: 1x Phial of the Silver Tongue (Potion. Duration: 1 Hour. Grants the drinker supernatural persuasive abilities. Note: Target must have a neutral or positive disposition toward you. Will not convince a Dark Lord to take up knitting).

Orion nodded approvingly. ”A localized Confundus charm in a bottle, reliant on charisma rather than raw magic. Highly useful for navigating Ministry bureaucrats or getting extensions on Snape’s essays.”

[ ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED! ]

Tier: 2 (Advanced)

Name: The Malfoy-Weasley Blood Feud (Melee Edition)

Description: You have now witnessed two generations of the Malfoy and Weasley families abandon their wands and choose to throw hands like drunken Muggles outside a pub. First Lucius and Arthur in a bookstore, now Draco and Ron rolling around on a coffee table. The magical world truly runs on repressed anger. You should probably schedule a WWE tournament. Better start learning how to RKO.

Reward: 1x Brawler’s Bracelet (Enchanted).

Orion pulled the bracelet from his Inventory. It was a simple, braided band of dark leather interwoven with a single thread of raw copper. He slipped it onto his left wrist.

”It won’t give you a six-pack or turn you into a troll,” Sparkle explained as the bracelet resized itself to fit snugly. ”But it enhances the kinetic output of your physical strikes. It brings your physical strength to the level of a professional wrestler. If you throw a punch correctly, it will hit like a bludger. You still have to learn how to punch, though.”

”Noted,” Orion flexed his hand, feeling a subtle, thrumming weight in his knuckles. ”I prefer to use my wand, but having a physical failsafe against someone like Weasley is... pragmatic.”

”And finally,” Sparkle’s voice dropped to a conspiratorial, amused whisper. ”The grand finale of the evening.”

[ ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED! ]

Tier: 2 (Advanced)

Name: The Neko-Granger Incident

Description: You witnessed the smartest witch of her age accidentally transfigure herself into the cutest, fluffiest cat-girl in the world. Is this traumatic experience the reason she develops such a strong affinity for felines next year? You should probably try and get her to purr the next time she tries to lecture you.

Reward: 1x Elixir of the Inner Beast.

Orion stopped walking. He stared at the screen, his blue eyes widening.

”The Inner Beast,” Orion breathed.

”It’s an Animagus potion,” Sparkle confirmed, her waveform spiking with excitement. ”No holding a mandrake leaf in your mouth for a month. No waiting for a lightning storm. No chanting incantations at sunrise. You drink this, and it unlocks your Animagus form instantly, bridging the biological gap with pure magic.”

Orion’s heart hammered in his chest. The Animagus transformation was N.E.W.T. level transfiguration, incredibly dangerous, and heavily monitored by the Ministry. It offered unparalleled stealth, mobility, and sensory advantages.

”Inventory,” Orion whispered.

A small, heavy crystal flask materialized in his palm. The liquid inside was thick and swirled with dark, earthy colors—deep greens, browns, and a startling flash of silver. It looked like a forest trapped in glass.

”There is a catch, of course,” Sparkle warned. ”You cannot choose the form. Obviously, a potion of that kind would likely have been a Tier 3 reward. For this potion, the magic aligns with your spirit, your personality, and your core. It’s entirely random based on who you are. So... cross your fingers you aren’t a flobberworm.”

Orion looked at the flask, a mixture of intense anticipation and sudden apprehension warring in his mind.

”I am a Malfoy,” Orion muttered, turning the flask over. ”I am a Slytherin. I am pragmatic, calculating, and somewhat predatory.”

He frowned, looking down the dark dungeon corridor.

”I just hope it’s not a snake or a rat. As much as I respect the emblem of my House... I have absolutely no desire to spend my free time slithering on the damp floorboards.”

”Only one way to find out,” Sparkle teased.

”Not tonight,” Orion decided firmly, slipping the flask back into his spatial pocket. ”Transforming for the first time is likely exhausting, and doing it in a dormitory full of sleeping boys is tactically unsound. I need a controlled environment. The abandoned classroom, perhaps, or the Forbidden Forest when I’m ready.”

He had the key to a completely new form of magic resting in his pocket. The sheer potential of it was intoxicating.

Orion reached the stretch of bare stone wall that concealed the Slytherin entrance. He murmured the password and the wall slid open with a heavy, grinding sound.

The common room was quiet. The wreckage of the coffee table had been vanished by the house-elves, and the fire was burning low. The only sound was the rhythmic crackle of the green flames.

Orion walked straight to the boys’ dormitories. He pushed the heavy oak door open.

Draco was sitting on the edge of his bed, nursing a slightly swollen lip and looking incredibly sullen. He was glaring at his trunk as if it had personally insulted him.

Orion stood in the doorway, leaning casually against the frame. He looked at his twin, the bruises of the ’Malfoy-Weasley Feud’ stark against Draco’s pale skin.

”Come on, Draco,” Orion called out, his voice smooth and carrying a hint of wry amusement. ”Time for dinner. The elves have prepared a feast, and I am starving. Fighting Gryffindors works up quite an appetite.”

Draco looked up, his scowl deepening. ”I don’t want to eat. My jaw hurts.”

”Then you can drink soup and glare at the empty Gryffindor table,” Orion suggested, turning to head back out. ”The sight of Potter and Weasley in detention with McGonagall should be enough to cure any ailment. They’re most likely going to be scrubbing the trophy room until Easter.”

That seemed to do the trick. Draco’s scowl lessened a fraction, replaced by a vindictive, bruised smirk. He stood up, smoothing his robes.

”Fine,” Draco grumbled, following Orion out of the dormitory. ”But if Weasley appears and so much as looks at me, I’m hexing his other eyebrow off.”

”We will schedule that for after breakfast, tomorrow morning.” Orion promised as they walked back out into the castle.
