Our Anniversary, You Chose Her – I Chose Divorce

It seemed there was no leaving this private room tonight. Sean Miller sat down on the sofa, striving to maintain a calm expression.

”What kind of collaboration did Mr. Grant want to discuss with our company?” Sean Miller asked.

Walker Grant looked at him and said, ”Tonight is all about welcoming Manager Miller. We’re not talking business. I’ll toast to you.”

With that, he drained his glass in one go.

In Breyburn these days, the Grant Group was number one. Who would dare disrespect Walker Grant?

Sean Miller had no choice but to pick up his glass and drink.

After finishing the drink, he asked, ”When do you think Miles Hawthorne will be back?”

Walker Grant countered, ”Didn’t he already resign from your company? Do you have something urgent to discuss with him? You can tell me, and I’ll help you contact him and confirm his return date.”

But Sean Miller just smiled and said, ”Mr. Grant, this is something I can only discuss with him. After all, it concerns the work he was previously responsible for, and it’s a company secret. It’s really not convenient for me to disclose the details.”

”Is that so? Well, forget it then.” Walker Grant didn’t press the issue. He picked up his glass again. ”Let’s not talk about all this tonight. Let’s drink.”

Sean Miller could only pick up his glass once more and drink with Walker Grant.

After two more drinks, Walker Grant put his glass down. He wrapped his arm around Chloe Reed and started whispering intimately to her, acting for all the world like he was just out to have a good time.

Meanwhile, Nathaniel Monroe sidled over and started trying to get friendly with Sean Miller, chatting about anything and everything as they drank.

Sean Miller remained on high alert. Whenever the topic touched on Miles Hawthorne, his answers were watertight.

Chloe Reed watched quietly from the side, a growing sense of urgency in her heart. ’At this rate,’ she thought, ’when are we ever going to get the truth out of this guy?’

She turned her head and leaned close to Walker Grant, as if about to kiss him, and asked in a breathy whisper, ”Can’t we just grab him and interrogate him?”

Her soft, warm breath ghosted over the man’s ear.

Walker Grant’s Adam’s apple bobbed. Cupping the back of her head, he pressed her into the sofa, his lips drawing near. His back shielded them from everyone else’s view.

He replied in the same breathy tone, ”That would be stirring the hornet’s nest. What if it draws others out to target you?”

Chloe Reed’s eyelashes fluttered. Just as she was about to speak, he suddenly crushed his lips against hers.

Chloe was startled. Before she could even gasp, her lips were breached, and he kissed her with devastating thoroughness.

He was like a marauder, plundering the space between her lips and teeth, licking every soft corner before pulling back, still wanting more, to place soft, shallow kisses on her lips.

A sheen of moisture coated Chloe Reed’s eyes as she glared at him.

’What kind of place does he think this is!’

’How could he be so reckless?’

But Walker Grant just chuckled and said, ”Have you forgotten your role for tonight?”

Chloe Reed: ”...”

She pushed him away and straightened her clothes.

By now, Nathaniel Monroe had plied Sean Miller with two bottles of alcohol. His mind was getting foggy, but he remained internally on guard.

Nathaniel Monroe turned to look at Walker Grant, blinking at him frantically.

Off to the side, William Quinn was munching on sunflower seeds, enjoying the show.

Just then, a phone rang nearby. William Quinn glanced at it, not knowing whose it was.

But he was bored, so he just answered it.

”Hello?”

”Who is this?”

A soft, feminine voice came from the other end of the line. The moment he heard it, the blood in William Quinn’s veins seemed to freeze!

The voice matched the girl’s from that night!

It was his ”first night” girl!

He hurriedly looked at the name on the phone’s screen, but in the next second, a hand shot out and snatched the phone away!
