Our Anniversary, You Chose Her – I Chose Divorce

A diversion.

He had deliberately leaked his own location to draw their attention to Sunny Reed. That way, the security around Noah Grant was bound to loosen.

Kidnapping a child would be simple enough.

The plan was flawless.

Chloe Reed felt a chill at the depths of human wickedness. Her fingers curled into fists. ”What’s his goal in doing this?”

Walker Grant’s tone turned grim. ”I don’t know, but I won’t let him get away with this.”

The car U-turned, heading for an abandoned chemical plant in the Nancastle District.

An hour later, several cars pulled to a stop in a clearing on the chemical plant’s grounds.

The plant had shut down years ago and had never been redeveloped. Weeds choked the grounds, and all sorts of trash littered the concrete. Ahead, several rows of factory buildings glinted with a cold, white light under the sun.

Walker Grant dialed the number from before. His voice was exceptionally cold. ”Where are you?”

”Go straight ahead. The last building at the very back.”

The person on the other end hung up again.

Walker Grant took Chloe Reed’s hand. With the bodyguards holding Sunny Reed, they all walked deeper inside.

Sunny Reed’s face was a mask of terror. ”Why did you bring me here? Let me go! Don’t you know it’s illegal to kill someone?”

She’d been on edge the entire way, convinced they were bringing her here to kill her.

’I can’t die yet...’

’My work isn’t done. I still have to get my son out of here. I absolutely cannot die!’

However, the others remained unmoved by her screaming.

Sunny Reed screamed until her voice was hoarse. It was only when she stepped into the massive factory building that she saw him: Noah Grant, suspended from the rafters.

”Noah!”

Sunny Reed shrieked, her face draining of color as pure terror took over.

She whirled on Walker Grant. ”You lunatic! Come after me if you want! Don’t you dare touch my son! He’s your older brother’s only flesh and blood! How could you do this to him!”

She thought Walker Grant was the one who had strung Noah up.

Beneath Noah Grant’s suspended body was a large steel plate covered in a dense forest of upright spikes. The tips were terrifyingly sharp. If he fell, the little boy would be riddled with holes.

Noah Grant was bound tightly, his eyes red and swollen from crying. When he saw them, especially Sunny Reed, he screamed with all his might, ”Mommy!”

”Noah, my son... SOB...” Sunny Reed completely dissolved into tears, her curses turning into pleas for mercy.

”I was wrong! I truly was! I’ll go abroad, I’ll do anything! I’m begging you, please let him go! You can’t do this to him, he’s just a child...”

She fell to her knees and began kowtowing to Walker Grant.

Walker Grant and Chloe Reed were just as shocked by the sight!

’How could Miles Hawthorne be so vicious!’

Chloe couldn’t hold back. She screamed, ”Miles Hawthorne, get out here!”

The moment she spoke, Sunny Reed froze. ”What do you mean?”

Chloe’s eyes scanned the corners of the factory. ”Miles Hawthorne, I know you’re in here! We know you’re behind this, so there’s no point in hiding. Whatever you want, why don’t you just come out and say it?”

Her voice echoed through the vast, empty factory.

For a long moment, there was only silence as her echo faded. Then, a sigh drifted through the air. ”Sigh... I didn’t want it to come to this, either.”

Then, a figure emerged from a corner at the far end of the building. He wore a black baseball cap. He slowly lifted his head, his gaze on Chloe Reed a mixture of resignation and complexity.

’It really was him!’

Chloe Reed’s expression was exceptionally cold, and she looked at him as if he were a complete stranger. ”Why would you do this?”
