Our Anniversary, You Chose Her – I Chose Divorce

But Noah saw the woman’s face—it was Sunny Reed!

Walker Grant picked up the little boy and said, ”You saw wrong. That’s not your mommy. She just looks a lot like her.”

”No, that is my mommy! I want my mommy! WAHHH, Mommy!”

But Noah started to cry and throw a tantrum, struggling in Walker Grant’s arms and desperately trying to climb toward the car window.

”Noah Grant!”

Walker’s tone deepened, and his eyes grew cold.

Noah’s crying faltered. He stared at him with tear-filled eyes, clear fear reflected within them.

Walker’s heart instantly softened, and his tone gentled. ”That’s not your mommy, Noah. Stop making a scene.”

Noah sobbed, whispering, ”But I want my mommy.”

Walker’s brow furrowed. He held Noah close, soothing him. After a long time coaxing him, Noah finally quieted down, but his eyes remained fixed on the world outside.

Sunny Reed failed to flag down a car. When she saw the bodyguards charging toward her, she turned and ran.

She ran to another street, got into a van, and quickly disappeared from sight.

The bodyguard reported the incident to Walker. The man scoffed, ”She really can’t stay out of trouble. Find her and send her abroad directly.”

”Yes, sir.”

...

「The hospital.」

Today, the old lady’s condition was a little better than yesterday. Her face wasn’t as pale, but her reactions were still slow.

It took a while after seeing Chloe for her to smile. ”Oh, it’s Chloe.”

Chloe Reed suppressed the ache in her heart. ”Grandma, are you feeling comfortable today?”

The old lady took a few more seconds before replying, ”I just have no strength. I’m old and useless now.”

Chloe Reed lowered her gaze slightly. From the moment her grandmother woke up until now, she hadn’t mentioned Autumn Linton’s name even once.

’Is it that she really doesn’t want to bring it up, or does she simply not know that her poisoning had something to do with Autumn Linton?’

’Or maybe... Grandma is unwilling to mention it, numbing herself as if that would make it less painful.’

Her heart suddenly ached for this kind and soft-hearted old woman.

Chloe Reed said, ”The sun is lovely today. Shall we go for a walk outside?”

The old lady stared outside for a long time before saying, ”No. I don’t have the strength. I’m so tired.”

Chloe Reed walked over and took her hand. ”Grandma, is there anything you want to tell me?”

It took a while for the old lady to turn her slow gaze to her. She stared intently at Chloe’s face, then reached out to touch it. ”Chloe, I’m fine. I’m just old and tired. I can’t seem to get interested in anything anymore. Don’t you worry about me.”

Chloe Reed lowered her head, and tears fell instantly.

Just then, her phone rang. She took it out and saw it was a call from Charles Reed.

She wiped away her tears, then got up and went outside to answer the call.

”Chloe, it’s Dad.”

Charles Reed’s gentle voice came through the phone. ”Which hospital are you and your grandmother staying at? Your mother and I want to come visit her.”

Chloe Reed’s tone was ice-cold. ”How dare you?”

Charles Reed was taken aback but still said, ”I know we were in the wrong. But we were instigated by Sunny Reed. If she hadn’t messed with our family, things wouldn’t have ended up like this. We were completely deceived. Chloe, at the end of the day, we’re still family.”

”I’m not your biological daughter,” Chloe Reed said bluntly. ”And we are most certainly not a family!”
