The Invincible Strongest Student

Chapter 1045: Chapter 1045: Heavenly Thunder

Cursed Spirit-binding Vine, a carnivorous plant, reputed to have the extraordinary effect of incarcerating souls and sealing Spiritual Qi.

This thing is impervious to water and fire, with a formidable reputation, yet few have seen it.

But the Grand Elder can confirm that these are indeed the Cursed Spirit-binding Vines. They entwine like a giant python around a person’s body, then use their emerald vines to root into the Sea of Qi, consuming all Spiritual Qi and vital essence.

No wonder those poisonous snakes dared not follow.

”Damn it, if I had the Hidden Dragon Sword, I’d slash these things clean with one stroke!” the Grand Elder muttered to himself, looking at the seven eerie vines.

”The area beneath your feet is where Nanhai has cultivated these Cursed Spirit-binding Vines for years. After they consume your Inner Strength and vital blood, they’ll be used to stew a pot of nourishing medicine!”

Underfoot, the Cursed Spirit-binding Vines sprout incessantly from the bamboo sea like mushrooms after a rain, annoyingly persistent.

But the Grand Elder’s Body Technique is agile, naturally eluding them, and in the process, he narrowed the gap between him and Xu Dongxu considerably.

”I heard you went out seeking the Dao and practiced Mao Shan Daoist Skills, raising so many evil things.” The Grand Elder said coldly, ”I’ll settle with you today, then uproot this bamboo grove in a few days!”

”I’ve been away for many years, these things were not mine doing, just timely for use now. What of Golden Core masters? They’re still at my mercy!” Xu Dongxu boasted, hands behind his back, confident and dignified.

”Just a few broken vines can trap your grandfather? Kid, you’re too naive.”

Xu Dongxu said slowly, ”I know that, but to stall you a bit is enough!”

As soon as his words fell, Xu Dongxu closed his eyes suddenly, his hands forming a strange gesture, starting to walk leisurely on the mound.

Xu Dongxu’s steps were airy and unhurried, yet each one felt immensely heavy, as if the mountain top itself trembled.

The Grand Elder watched him, frowning deeply, feeling a premonition of doom. Wanting to stop him, but at that moment, countless Cursed Spirit-binding Vines shot skyward, sweeping towards him.

The Grand Elder knew this was meant to hinder him, distracting him from interfering. Although aware, he remained powerless against the ghostly vines, especially without the Hidden Dragon Sword!

On the mound, Xu Dongxu abruptly halted his steps, appearing somewhat blurred, as if possessed by spirits!

In reality, Xu Dongxu was concentrating his mind, retracting his aura, thus creating such an illusion.

Soon, Xu Dongxu opened his eyes suddenly; in that moment, he transformed entirely, glaring wide-eyed, black hair fluttering.

Almost as if breaking some seal, all his aura suddenly burst forth.

The wind rose.

Differently than before, the wind now felt like an invisible hand, viciously sweeping over, toppling the bamboo sea.

Accompanying the wind, rain fell heavily, its driving force piercing like arrows.

Within it, the Grand Elder appeared like a rootless duckweed, a lone boat in the vast ocean, a slight relaxation enough to be blown away.

Xu Dongxu’s hands formed a series of hand seals, incredibly fast and bewildering.

The complexity of the seals made it seem as though Xu Dongxu had hundreds of fingers.

As the seals formed, Xu Dongxu began reciting an incantation in a peculiar tone, swift and composed of irregular, tongue-twisting long phrases.

”Heaven’s Thunder! Fall!”

As his words finished, the surrounding Cursed Spirit-binding Vines also retracted their Divine Power, trembling before collapsing.

The Grand Elder looked up, gazing at the dense storm clouds overhead, his face exceedingly grim, realizing this was troublesome!

Rumble~

Amongst the clouds, lightning flashed, bursting in radiant white light, brilliant and awe-inspiring, full of majesty, daunting enough to make one’s head tingle.

He understood that these storm clouds and thunder were not summoned by Xu Dongxu. Had he such a power, he’d already be unbeatable, reigning supreme.

The storm clouds and thunder were arranged by arrays beforehand, relying on the weather to gather clouds, then guiding lightning.

Though doing so was a monumental undertaking, it exhausted tremendous resources and incurred immense cost.

This bastard harbors murderous intent!

”Damn it, if I’m to die, we’ll die together!” the Grand Elder’s face twisted, biting hard his silver teeth, veins bulging. Most strikingly, was his pair of bloodshot eyes! He used all his Inner Strength to protect his body, swiftly dodging.

Rumble~

In the midst of lightning and thunder, heaven’s thunder finally roared down.

It appeared as a very small light beam visible to the naked eye, illuminating the world, though the range was not wide.

Nonetheless, never doubt its power.

It represents an indomitable will, all things tremble before it, physically and spiritually.

Only within it can one feel the grandeur, the insignificance of all things.

Even so, the Grand Elder held no confidence, despair overtaking him.

The bamboo sea shattered, within it the Cursed Spirit-binding Vines reduced to flying smoke, lightning is the greatest nemesis to such demonic entities!

The Grand Elder, though not struck directly, was affected by the waves emitted from the lightning, compounded by the rain’s conductivity.

Instantly, the Grand Elder’s body convulsed and spasmed, emitting a charred odor, collapsing onto the ruins.

His swift reflexes spared him from becoming a charred corpse.

Dazed, the Grand Elder heard thunder rolling overhead once more. He blankly raised his head, gazing at the silhouette on the mound, invigorated, rising once more.

This bamboo sea had become a minefield, the only safe place likely beneath Xu Dongxu’s feet on the mound.

Clearly, the mound was long treated, besides fierce wind and rain, no lightning’s might reached it.

Boom!

Another bolt struck, seemingly small yet once more cleared the bamboo sea.

Thud~

As if a lone boat, the Grand Elder fell again, skin charred and flesh mangled, though escaping direct lightning strike, injured gravely.

Seeing the Grand Elder’s plight, Xu Dongxu quickly withdrew his seals, his aura becoming dispersed, slumping to the ground, drenched and panting heavily, struggling to breathe.

Despite having arrays to guide lightning, Xu Dongxu dared only to summon small bolts.

At most, he could summon three bolts, yet the cost was severe, after two the Grand Elder was already dead, the ideal outcome, the third need not bother.

”Golden Core masters, they’re terribly tough to handle!” said Xu Dongxu, suddenly spitting a mouthful of black blood, his breathing eased somewhat.
