The Invincible Strongest Student

Chapter 685: Chapter 685: Soaring Through the Nine Heavens

After getting Jiang Pan Die’s approval, Lin Tian took the microphone and said with a smile, ”You pick a song, I can sing almost all of yours.”

Jiang Pan Die widened her eyes even more, ”All of them? Even the rap songs?”

Lin Tian nodded, ”That’s not a problem either.”

Zhou Mi and Liou Qingcheng often played Jiang Pan Die’s songs, he couldn’t even count how many times he’d listened to them, so it wasn’t really an issue for him.

Jiang Pan Die was at a loss for words. Dude, if you can sing all my songs, doesn’t that make you my fan? So why are you making things difficult for me?

”Alright then, let’s sing ’Butterfly by the River’,” Jiang Pan Die said.

”Do you want me to sing the easy main verse or the rap chorus?” Lin Tian asked.

”Can you rap?” Jiang Pan Die asked curiously.

You have to know, in the song ”Butterfly by the River,” the rap part is the hardest to sing out of all her songs.

The rap sections make the song feel fast-paced, and it’s impossible to sing it smoothly without a lot of practice.

When Jiang Pan Die first wrote this song, she couldn’t keep up with the tempo at all at first, and only began recording after three days of practice. The recording process was naturally quite grueling.

Of course, as the title track of her debut album, the melody was definitely very catchy, and it was also her most popular song.

However, its difficulty made it rarely covered. Few people would bother practicing this song because it was so exhausting, and without mastering the technique, the transitions in the melody were hard to sing well.

”It’s doable, I don’t see a problem,” Lin Tian nodded and smiled.

Jiang Pan Die gave him a surprised look. If anyone told her now that this guy wasn’t her fan, she wouldn’t believe it, no matter what.

If he wasn’t, how could he even handle such difficult rap parts?

”Does everyone want to hear Lin Tian rap?” Jiang Pan Die asked loudly towards the audience.

”Yes!” the crowd replied in unison, up until now, no one had heard anyone’s rap part sound better than Jiang Pan Die’s.

With a mindset of getting to see a good show, they became even more eager.

”If you know the song, sing along with me,” Jiang Pan Die raised her arm and called out.

Then, the sound of the music started playing, and as Jiang Pan Die waved her hand, she began to sing.

A moth struggles to fly from its cocoon, it surely passes by the fragrant flowers.

The sky wind carries it lightly away, yet it laughs at the spider’s futile web weaving.

Softly brushing against gleaming railings in pairs, a beauty steals glances time and again.

The lyrics of this song were originally written by the Tang Dynasty poet Xu Yin, titled ”Three Butterflies,” but the music was composed by Jiang Pan Die herself.

The lyrics were ancient, but with the varied electronic music in the accompaniment, the song sounded extremely modern.

With elegant lyrics and a strong sense of imagery, combined with Jiang Pan Die’s unique vocal style, the audience below again raised their arms and cheered.

After Jiang Pan Die finished singing the main verse, the accompaniment began to speed up as it entered the rap section.

Jiang Pan Die glanced over at Lin Tian, noticing he stood there calmly, as if nothing was amiss, she couldn’t help but worry if he could actually do it.

Jiang Pan Die had already decided that if Lin Tian couldn’t perform well, she’d sing along to keep the scene from being too awkward.

Suddenly, Lin Tian picked up the microphone, raised an eyebrow, and started singing.

Do not jeer at short wings flying so close, attempting a ballet amongst the flowers is already hard.

So vivid, yet without his reason to stay, in the wild garden and deserted paths, there’s an abundance.

Unheard of strings or flutes teaching the dance, must rely on the warblers to sing instead.

These short six lines, sung in the rap style of Jiang Pan Die, are extremely difficult. The tempo’s mismatch, plus the lyrics themselves are already quite a tongue twister, yet missing a beat or stealing a beat is not allowed, singing according to the beat is very challenging.

However, as soon as Lin Tian opened his mouth, it was stunning!

Absolutely stunning!

Through these three long lines of lyrics, no one saw him take a breath; he sang it all in one go.

His pitch and tone accuracy were utterly perfect. Even the original singer Jiang Pan Die was left stunned, could this guy’s casual singing really surpass her own?

Jiang Pan Die’s original vocal style made people think the song was light and lively, like a real butterfly fluttering up in front of them, beating its wings as it danced.

Lin Tian’s style was different, reducing so much breathiness, the voice was particularly solid. This singing style filled the song with a sense of strength.

It was no longer a butterfly dancing gracefully among the flowers but one looking to ascend the clouds, flying straight up to the ninth heaven!

Lin Tian’s continuous singing made people feel that this butterfly had infinite potential.

Not only could it soar to the clouds, but it could even stir a tornado reaching through the skies.

Perhaps it was the butterfly effect, but Lin Tian’s singing style resonated with everyone present. It gave the impression that a beast was caged inside each of them, waiting to explode out.

Adrenaline surged rapidly, and they could only express their excitement through shouting and clapping.

Jiang Pan Die slightly parted her mouth, staring at this guy, was his performance really so unreal?

This is totally a ’singing so well it kills the original singer’ situation!

Finally, with Lin Tian’s ripping voice and Jiang Pan Die’s light voice, the song ended.

”Lin Tian! Lin Tian! Lin Tian!”

”Jiang Pan Die! Jiang Pan Die! Jiang Pan Die!”

The song was over, but the fans’ passion was still there.

Someone shouted ”Encore,” and the entire venue echoed with chants of ”Encore” over and over.

The teachers sitting in the front row were also stirred, no one stopped this scene, they too wanted to hear another one.

Jiang Pan Die and Lin Tian exchanged a glance, then both smiled wryly.

Judging by this atmosphere, unless they sing again, they won’t be able to leave the stage.

Jiang Pan Die motioned with her hands to calm down, then said sweetly, ”Let’s sing one more song then.”

”Okay!” The cheers erupted from the audience once more.

The two of them performed a love song written by Jiang Pan Die herself. The tune was graceful, and the lyrics were sweet. To tell the truth, they looked quite matched standing together.

However, this is Kanyue City Medical University. Everyone knows Lin Tian and Liou Qingcheng are a couple, so they wouldn’t think too much of it.

But after tonight, when the video spread online, everyone who saw their harmonious performance thought the two of them were a couple. Considering their looks, they seemed made for each other.

Of course, that was something for after tonight.

After the love song was over, the hosts Shi Caiyun and Dai Xueling also came on stage.

With all four of them on stage, their attractiveness was off the charts; such a pleasing sight naturally kept everyone from leaving early.

After asking Jiang Pan Die and Lin Tian some questions, the two hosts proceeded with their closing remarks.

This evening’s event then came to an end.

After the event, the enthusiasm of the fans didn’t subside, so they did something, which was to block the artists!

Once fans get riled up, they become fanatical. To prevent anything from happening on-site, in the end, it was the new principal who came forward to ’clean up the mess’ for his students.

With Zhao Xuefeng and a group of student council members, they barely managed to control the scene.
