The Invincible Strongest Student

Chapter 399: Chapter 399: Military Training

When Lin Tian arrived at the dormitory, Meng Nan and Li had already put on their military uniforms and were striking poses in front of the mirror on the balcony.

Meng Nan even took out his phone, snapped a couple of selfies, claiming he was going to post them to his moments later.

His behavior earned disdain from both Lin Tian and Li, who agreed that they were definitely going to block Meng Nan later.

As Lin Tian was putting on his military training uniform, he asked, ”Where’s Wang Sicong?”

Meng Nan chuckled, ”Probably lying in the arms of that beauty. Not to criticize, but you shouldn’t have left the other day; the girls the third one brought were amazing.”

After speaking, Meng Nan winked at Li, ”Right?”

Li adjusted his glasses, his face slightly flushed, and just nodded without saying anything.

”Look at you, such a closet perv.” Lin Tian glanced at his well-dressed beastly appearance, playfully chiding him. Then he asked, ”So Wang Sicong isn’t going to the training?”

Li nodded, ”His family is wealthy and well-connected. If he doesn’t want to go, he doesn’t have to. The teacher won’t trouble him either.”

Lin Tian managed a wry smile, then pushed Meng Nan away from the mirror and stood in front of it himself to adjust his collar, finally nodding with satisfaction.

”Hmm, I look even cooler in the uniform!” Lin Tian said.

”Tch, shameless!” Both of them simultaneously raised a middle finger in jest.

...

Late August and early September mark the tail end of summer, yet the sun still rises at five or six in the morning, with heat hitting by seven-thirty.

By the time Lin Tian and the others reached the training ground, they were already drenched in sweat.

In truth, those who really couldn’t bear the sun were the flower-like girls, for whom military training equated to ’getting tanned’. So their pockets were filled with all sorts of bottles and jars.

No doubt those were sunblock, maybe even prickly heat powder. During breaks, they’d pull out those bottles and jars and slather them over their faces, necks, and hands as if they were free.

Such effort was naturally to ensure that after military training they remained fair and beautiful, effortlessly standing out among other girls, and capturing the heart of the guy of their dreams.

The saying goes that fair skin covers a multitude of flaws. Isn’t that important?

Of course, there were exceptions among the girls; aside from the tomboys who didn’t know how to dress, there was one goddess, and that was Liou Qingcheng.

Liou Qingcheng was a very confident, easygoing girl. She had complete confidence in her figure and looks, and was even worried she was too dazzling, attracting too much attention from boys.

So ever since she was young, Liou Qingcheng seldom used cosmetics and dressed quite plainly. Today she only applied some sunscreen and didn’t bring an umbrella, standing carefree under the scorching sun.

Even so, she remained the focus of every boy’s gaze. Many wanted to strike up a conversation but didn’t have the courage; facing such a perfect goddess, they lacked confidence, so they could only take a few more glances to satisfy themselves.

However, Lin Tian seemed evasive, as if afraid of being noticed by her.

Yet when you’re having a bad day, what you fear just ends up happening.

Suddenly, someone tapped Lin Tian on the shoulder from behind. He turned around to find it was the girl with the bun hairstyle from the day before, named Sisi, who was Qingcheng’s roommate.

Sisi, grinning, said, ”Lin Tian, did you upset our Qingcheng after I left yesterday?”

”Um...” Lin Tian hesitated a bit, and said, ”No, I didn’t.”

”Still trying to fool me! Let me tell you, when couples argue, the guy has to take the initiative to apologize. Be a gentleman, alright? I’m really rooting for you.”

”It’s not what you think...”

Before Lin Tian could finish, Sisi gave him a hard shove forward. He wasn’t expecting it, so his body stumbled uncontrollably forward until he came to stand in front of Liou Qingcheng.

Lin Tian turned back to give that girl an angry glare, only to find her making a funny face at him, looking mischievous.

”You little brat,” Lin Tian cursed in his heart, then quickly turned back, forced a smile, and said, ”Qingcheng, what a coincidence, you’re here too.”

Before Liou Qingcheng could say anything, her friend beside her started to laugh, ”Pfft... handsome guy, your pick-up line is too old-school. We’re all here for the training, what’s so coincidental about it? Our Qingcheng won’t fall for it.”

Her words made the girls around laugh and they started eyeing Lin Tian with a hint of challenge, their minds buzzing with thoughts on how they could win over someone like Qingcheng if she didn’t fancy him.

While they were busy hatching such plans, Liou Qingcheng stepped forward and pulled Lin Tian by the wrist, walking away. This left a row of girls behind staring in disappointment.

Once they reached a relatively open space, Liou Qingcheng let go of Lin Tian’s hand, looked at him anxiously, and asked, ”Well? Have you thought it through?”

”Um, we’re good friends, right?” Lin Tian cautiously said.

Liou Qingcheng’s eyes immediately reddened, and she took a deep breath, her chest heaving as she said, ”Good friends? Then what was that kiss about yesterday?”

Liou Qingcheng felt extremely wronged. Deep down, she was quite conservative. She had trusted Lin Tian’s character, which was why she let him stay over at her place.

But yesterday, this guy went as far as to steal her first kiss, and after thinking it over, he concluded they were just good friends!

Good friends? Yeah, right.

Seeing Liou Qingcheng’s reddened eyes, Lin Tian panicked, ”Qingcheng, let me explain...”

”There’s nothing to explain.” After saying that, Liou Qingcheng turned and walked back despondently.

Seeing her looking so heartbroken, her friends turned their goodwill toward Lin Tian into utter disdain, casting hateful glances his way.

Lin Tian felt utterly helpless, venting in his heart by imagining smacking Sisi’s behind hundreds of times, which was still not enough to calm his frustration.

At that moment, Zhao Xuefeng’s voice rang out: ”Ancient Medicine Class 42, gather up, let’s sort out the lineup first.”

Upon hearing Zhao Xuefeng’s words, all of Ancient Medicine Class 42’s students headed over, with Lin Tian among them.

The Ancient Medicine Class 42 consisted of 24 girls and 13 boys, excluding Wang Sicong, exactly 36 people, 9 per row.

Both Lin Tian and Meng Nan were tall and were placed in the back row, with Li on the far right of the third row.

Liou Qingcheng, being tall among the girls, was also in the third row, and standing right in front of Lin Tian were her and Sisi.

However, Liou Qingcheng was cold toward Lin Tian, although she seemed to be holding back her tears, her eyes were already red. Sisi kept winking and whispering to him, ”Come on, comfort her.”

Lin Tian ignored Sisi; just the sight of her angered him. Things wouldn’t have gotten like this if it weren’t for her.

By then, the lineup was sorted, and Zhao Xuefeng addressed everyone, ”I initially planned to hold a class meeting yesterday, but due to matters at home, I didn’t have the chance. I apologize for that. I do hope you all perform outstandingly during this military training.”

Zhao Xuefeng continued, ”After the training, we’ll hold the class meeting and select outstanding classmates from the training to be class committee members.”

Zhao Xuefeng’s words revitalized everyone, making them more attentive. After all, serving as a class committee member in college could boost their CVs, increasing their chances of landing a job later on.

Then, Old Zhao waved his hand towards a direction, causing everyone to look over; it was a row of instructors in military uniforms, standing tall and straight.

As Zhao waved his hand, one of the instructors stepped forward, jogging over to us.
