The Delicate Darling with Her Rough Man

Chapter 242: Chapter 241: Utterly Shameless

”Apologizing to me is useless. You hurt Sweet Girl, so it’s up to her.”

The brigade leader’s voice was ice-cold, as if he were washing his hands of the matter.

Lin Jiandong panicked, grabbing the brigade leader’s leg.

”Chief, you can’t just abandon me! I truly know I was wrong. We grew up together—please, you have to help me!”

The brigade leader was speechless. The villagers were, too.

’This guy has absolutely no shame.’

Lin Jiandong was forty-five and Chen Beiguo was only thirty-seven. An eight-year age difference, and they ”grew up together”? Give me a break!

That was a pathetic attempt to curry favor.

Disgusted by the reek of piss on Lin Jiandong, Chen Beiguo jerked back two steps.

”Like I said, this is up to Sweet Girl.”

Lin Jiandong finally got the hint.

He gritted his teeth.

He turned to Sweet Girl, bowing his head to admit his fault.

”Sweet Girl, Dad was wrong. Dad—”

”Shut up! You’re not my dad.”

Sweet Girl shouted.

Her parents had been so good to her. When they were alive, they showered her with love and affection.

Her father would lift her up and let her ride on his shoulders.

All Lin Jiandong ever did was torture her, beat her, and curse at her. How could he possibly compare to her real father?!

Sweet Girl had once been terrified of this man.

But the man wailing before her now looked like a drowning dog, utterly pathetic!

’So he can feel fear, too!’

Lin Jiandong stiffened. He wanted to lash out, but when he looked up and saw Leng Yuan standing nearby, he immediately lost his nerve.

”Yes, you’re right. Uncle misspoke. It’s my fault. Please, forgive me for the sake of all the years I’ve taken care of you!”

Sweet Girl’s lips formed a tight line, her expression tense.

’I can’t forgive him.’

’This man has always bullied me. I don’t want to forgive him.’

Jiaojiao had told her that when someone apologizes, you should listen to your heart. If you don’t want to forgive them, you don’t have to. She wasn’t the one in the wrong; the person who hurt others is the one who should be repenting.

Lin Jiandong continued to wail, waiting for Sweet Girl’s forgiveness, but heard only silence.

He cautiously raised his eyelids to sneak a peek at Sweet Girl’s expression, just as she gritted her teeth and began to speak.

”Uncle Lin, ever since my parents passed away, you’ve often brought me food. But you always did it when there were people around. I knew you were just putting on a show for others.”

”Every time, you only gave me broth with no rice in it, and the cornbread was too hard to bite. I didn’t want to eat it at all, and I didn’t like it.”

”And every time you brought something, you would take something from my house.”

”At first, it was tables, chairs, and benches. Then, it was pots, bowls, and pans. You took away everything my parents left behind.”

”You’ve nearly emptied out my entire house.”

”You said that if you adopted me, Xiao Yang could go to school. That was something my parents had always wanted, which is the only reason I agreed.”

”After you adopted me, you used the firewood I gathered and ate my food rations, but you never let me and Xiao Yang eat our fill. You beat and cursed me, and now you were even going to sell Xiao Yang. I will never, ever forgive you.”

”As long as I’m registered in your household, I can report you.”

A gasp rippled through the crowd.

Holy cow.

This Lin Jiandong was really something else.

He was quiet, but when he acted, he really went all out with one shady move after another! To think he was living off Sweet Girl’s food rations and still had the nerve to beat her so brutally!

Outside, the snow was falling heavier and heavier.

Someone couldn’t take it anymore. They packed a solid snowball and hurled it from the doorway.

Leng Yuan had already sensed their movements.

He immediately shielded Gu Jiaojiao, pulling her out of the way.

The snowballs, packed hard as ice, slammed directly into Lin Jiandong.

The others followed suit, all of them throwing snowballs into the room.

One of them landed right on Lin Jiandong’s head.

THWACK! With a loud crack, the ball of ice hit Lin Jiandong’s head but didn’t even shatter.

That just showed how solid the ball of ice was.

Lin Jiandong was stunned by the blow. His vision went black for a moment before clearing. He felt a sharp pain in his head and reached up, his hand coming away covered in blood.
