The Delicate Darling with Her Rough Man

Chapter 216: Chapter 215: Braised Pheasant Secured

”Hey, don’t go!”

Gu Jiaojiao watched the pheasant flap its wings and fly into the air, getting farther and farther away.

She was so mad.

’If you’ve got the guts, don’t be a coward.’

’Why are you running?’p>

’Weren’t you acting all high and mighty just a moment ago?’

But the chicken had already flown off. It was too late to say anything.

”Honey, forget it...”

She figured they should just let it go.

’It’s already flown away, we’ll never catch it now.’

Before she could finish, the stone in Leng Yuan’s hand flew out with a WHOOSH.

The pheasant, crowing triumphantly in mid-air, was struck in the head by the stone the very next moment.

The bird’s body instantly plummeted from the sky.

”A hit! My braised pheasant is secured.”

Gu Jiaojiao cheered and ran toward the spot where the pheasant had fallen.

Watching his wife’s exuberant display, the corners of Leng Yuan’s mouth turned up in a smile.

When Gu Jiaojiao found the pheasant, it was still putting up a final struggle.

Gu Jiaojiao smacked it on the head and said fiercely,

”Take that, you little punk. Serves you right for being so cocky.”

The pheasant, with its beady eyes, turned its head away, too contemptuous to engage with her.

’If you’re so tough, fight me one-on-one. What kind of skill is calling your man for help?’

It struggled a couple more times, and then its chicken life came to an end.

She wasn’t squeamish at all. She picked it up and waved it at Leng Yuan, who wasn’t far off.

”Honey, it’s dead!”

’I just don’t know if it was hit to death or died of anger!’

But no matter how it died, Gu Jiaojiao was happy.

Her eyes curved into crescents, and her smile was radiant.

Seeing this, the man couldn’t help but smile as well.

He walked over.

Gu Jiaojiao pointed at the pheasant.

”Tonight, I’ll make you braised pheasant.”

The pheasant suddenly twitched.

Gu Jiaojiao jumped in fright.

Leng Yuan reached out and took it from her.

”It might not be completely dead yet.”

If only the pheasant could talk, it would have told the two of them that it couldn’t die in peace.

’This was supposed to be a battle between the two of us, so why did you get to have your man help you!’

’Are you just bullying me because I’m a single chicken?’

The chicken refused to accept this!

Unfortunately, no one could hear its inner voice.

Just as Leng Yuan was about to toss the pheasant into the back basket, Chen Jianshe returned, holding a chicken and looking thrilled.

”Brother Leng, Sister-in-law, there was a dumb roe deer in the trap! I’ve already secured it.”

”On my way to find you, I saw a pheasant. I fought with it for ages, and I finally took it down...”

The words had barely left his mouth when he saw the pheasant Gu Jiaojiao was holding.

His jaw dropped!

”Did you just get this pheasant?”

Gu Jiaojiao nodded.

”Not just this one, there’s another in the basket.”

Chen Jianshe chuckled weakly. He had been happy for nothing.

He had spent forever putting in a ton of effort to get one bird, and he was just about to show it off.

Then he turned around and saw that his Brother Leng had silently gotten two.

’What the hell is there for me to show off now?’

Chen Jianshe quietly put his pheasant away, deciding to keep a low profile.

Gu Jiaojiao was also happy. She knew that Chen Jianshe had neighbors on both sides of his house, so it would be awkward for him to cook the meat back at his place. On the spot, she invited him to stay for dinner.

”Jianshe, stay and have dinner with us tonight.”

Dinner!

Chen Jianshe, who had been feeling a bit dejected, instantly brightened up when he heard this.p>

”Thanks, Sister-in-law.”

’A foodie’s life, a foodie’s soul, a foodie stands above all!’

’You’ve got to be passionate about eating!’

Leng Yuan shot him a glare with his cold eyes.

Chen Jianshe: ...

His excited expression immediately vanished, and he silently averted his gaze.

He pretended not to see the displeasure in his Brother Leng’s eyes.

Gu Jiaojiao, unaware of the subtle exchange between the two men, tugged on Leng Yuan’s arm and said with a smile,

”Then we’ll have one braised, and one as spicy chicken.”

Leng Yuan’s expression immediately softened. He nodded, looking as though he’d agree to whatever his wife said.

Chen Jianshe had eaten the spicy chicken once before and knew how delicious it was. Just hearing the name was already making his mouth water.

Leng Yuan glanced at his pathetic display and looked away in disdain, forcefully trying to suppress his own drooling.
