The Delicate Darling with Her Rough Man

Chapter 226: Chapter 225: Bewitched by a Fox Spirit

”What are you doing? What do you think you’re doing? Qiushou and Man Cang are about to lose their jobs, and you’re still not letting me handle it? Are you just going to stand by and watch them end up as farmers?”

Old Mrs. Leng pounded her cane on the ground.

She knew her comfortable life was all because her grandsons had made something of themselves.

Five of her six grandsons had jobs in the city.

Leng Yuan didn’t count.

She had never even acknowledged him as a grandson.

But just mentioning these good grandsons of hers made her old face beam with pride.

Now, out of nowhere, Qiushou and Man Cang were coming back. Not only would she lose the two yuan they gave her every month out of filial piety, but it would also be a complete loss of face.

She stood up, glaring coldly at her two daughters-in-law.

”Today, I have to go.”

”I’m going to beat some sense into that unfilial whelp who’s been bewitched by a vixen.”

Aunt Leng and Third Aunt Leng scrambled to stop her.

”Mom, don’t worry. We’ll handle this ourselves.”

The old woman snorted.

”Handle it? You’ve been ’handling it’ for this long, and what have you accomplished?”

”Are Qiushou and Man Cang your sons or not? How can you be so unconcerned?”

Old Mrs. Leng shot Aunt Leng and Third Aunt Leng a condemnatory look. Completely ignoring their attempts to block her, she walked out, leaning on her cane.

Seeing that the old woman was serious, Aunt Leng and Third Aunt Leng hurriedly chased after her.

The last thing they wanted was for their sons to come back and be farmers.

Leng Qiushou and Leng ManCang also rushed out after them.

”Grandma, this is just a small matter. There’s no need for you to get involved. We can solve it ourselves.”

”Yes, yes, Grandma! We’ll solve it ourselves.”

But the old woman wouldn’t listen.

She jutted out her chin and marched forward with a determined stride.

The four of them surrounded her, trying to talk her down, but the old woman just got furious.

”I’m warning you. Anyone who tries to stop me again will get a taste of my cane.”

Aunt Leng and Third Aunt Leng were speechless.

So were Leng Qiushou and Leng ManCang.

The old woman was dead set on going.

They couldn’t stop her, and they were even more afraid that if they tried, they’d anger her into a health crisis.

The old woman walked surprisingly fast, and soon she arrived at the gate of Leng Yuan’s house.

She ordered Leng Qiushou.

”Go knock on the door.”

Leng Qiushou also wanted to see Leng Yuan to talk about the job situation, so he didn’t object and went forward to knock.

The old woman instructed her two daughters-in-law.

”In a moment, you will all keep your mouths shut and let me do the talking. Do you hear me?”

She had to display her authority as the head of the family.

Aunt Leng and Third Aunt Leng wanted to say something, but one glare from the old woman silenced them.

They exchanged a look, both understanding the meaning in the other’s eyes.

’This is going to be big trouble!’

Inside the kitchen, Gu Jiaojiao was mincing meat.

Her pickled vegetables were ready, and with plenty of pork in the house, she planned to make dumplings.

Gu Jiaojiao was in the middle of cutting the meat when there was a knock on the main gate.

Leng Yuan was in his room writing, so Gu Jiaojiao didn’t call for him and went to open the gate herself.

The moment she opened it, she saw a group of people outside, looking aggressive and hostile.

She recognized two of the middle-aged women: Aunt Leng and Third Aunt Leng.

Seeing this group at her door, Gu Jiaojiao couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow.

The old woman stepped forward with her cane, looking Gu Jiaojiao up and down with critical eyes.

Gu Jiaojiao casually fiddled with the cleaver in her hand, even giving it a couple of skillful twirls.

As a chef, one had to know their way around a knife.

And in that regard, Gu Jiaojiao was a master.

”What are you all doing at my house?”

As she spoke, Gu Jiaojiao didn’t even glance at the cleaver in her hand.

The blade spun once around her fingertip before landing steadily back in her grip.

The old woman’s face twitched. After a moment’s thought, her tone suddenly softened considerably.

”You must be Jiaojiao! I’m Leng Yuan’s grandmother. I have something to discuss with him.”
