Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space

Chapter 46: 46 plots

Jiang Xinyu thought to herself, have I stumbled upon a secret that shouldn’t see the light of day? But now she also knows that these two men are Zhou Lihong and Zhou Chunxiang’s father.

Both of them are squad leaders, are they planning to steal for themselves? No, they’re trying to frame Wang Jianqiang.

Is there still food in the storage room? Jiang Xinyu suddenly realized, the storage room doesn’t contain food, it’s next year’s seeds, right?

These two are truly wicked. If they really succeed, what will happen with next year’s spring planting?

And the cave they mentioned, that’s probably where they hide the stolen food, right? They are truly pests, that belongs to everyone. How can it belong to them now?

This plot wasn’t even mentioned in the books.

No way, I must find Wang Jianqiang, he’s someone who understands.

Just as Jiang Xinyu was about to leave, she suddenly heard a man humming a tune.

Jiang Xinyu hid again, this should be Zhou Jiaxing. What’s he doing going up the mountain again? Could he be trying to fetch the food? She was just worried, even if they were caught, if they deny it, with such a big mountain, the food would be hard to find.

From their conversation, it seems there’s quite a lot of food. If it’s really found, it can be shared among everyone.

Jiang Xinyu felt a bit scared, if spotted, she probably wouldn’t fare well.

But giving up now would be frustrating. Better be cautious, not following closely, but knowing a general location is good.

Jiang Xinyu quietly followed behind Zhou Jiaxing. She saw him entering the small valley where she had woken up, so this is where it is.

This place is quite hidden. She dared not follow him in, decided to leave quickly, just knowing the approximate location was enough.

Jiang Xinyu ran back to the village, got home and released those six withered trees, didn’t enter the house and went straight to the Wang Family.

It was Wang Xiaolong who opened the door. ”Xinyu, do you have something? Come in.”

”Brother Xiaolong, I won’t go in, can you ask uncle to come to my house later, I’ve got business with him.”

”Xinyu? Looking for me?” Wang Jianqiang heard the noise and came out.

”Uncle, you and Auntie come to my house, there’s something I need to tell you.”

”Alright, I’ll be there. You head back first.”

”Wait, Xinyu, there’s still porridge at home, want a bowl?” Sun Ermei also came out.

”No, Auntie, I’m heading back to make a fire.”

Jiang Xinyu got home and just lit the fire when Wang Jianqiang and his wife arrived.

”Xinyu, did you carry these trees back yourself?”

”Yes, I went up the mountain these days thinking that when I go to town, I’ll need firewood, branches aren’t convenient, withered trees are cleaner and tidier.”

”Alright, tomorrow I’ll come over with your big brother to help you chop them.”

”Thank you, Auntie. You both sit inside.”

”No need, right here in the main room is fine, it’s warm.” Sun Ermei sat where Jiang Xinyu just made the fire and added some wood inside the stove.

”Uncle, today I heard Zhou Lihong and Zhou Chunxiang’s father talking up the mountain.

They want to harm you, they want to get the warehouse key from the village chief for you, then steal the grain from the warehouse.”

”There’s no grain left in the warehouse.” Wang Jianqiang frowned.

”Dear, there’s no grain but there are seeds.”

Wang Jianqiang jumped up. ”Those two shameless bastards.”

”Uncle, don’t be upset, they also stole grain and hid it in the mountain, I followed them and know roughly where it is.”

”You girl, why are you so bold? That’s too dangerous?” Sun Ermei was frightened, criticizing Jiang Xinyu.

”It’s alright, Auntie, I know the limits. Uncle, you need to think of a way, how do you plan to deal with such people?”

”Let’s play along with it, if they really get Kong Zhongyou to give me the warehouse key, I’ll make sure they spend their lives in prison.”

”That’s alright then, as long as you know what to do, Uncle.”

”Thank you, Xinyu, if I didn’t know, I’d definitely have walked right into their trap.” Wang Jianqiang is a sensible person. His gratitude to Jiang Xinyu was genuine.

”Uncle, out of respect for Sister Ailing, for your care of me, I wouldn’t just stand by.”

”Okay, we’ll head back, you be careful yourself.”

”Xinyu, tomorrow morning I’ll come over with your big brother to chop wood for you.” Sun Ermei reminded once more before leaving.

After sending off the Wang Family couple, Jiang Xinyu thought, Wang Jianqiang really is extraordinary.

Since she has told them about this, she can let it go, this isn’t something she can be involved in.

The next day, Wang Xiaolong and his mother came over at eight o’clock. These two sturdy fellows were incredible, by noon, they had chopped the six withered trees into even firewood.

Jiang Xinyu was steaming yam and mixed flour steamed buns for them in the main room, as they worked for her, meals were necessary.

The mother and son refused at first but couldn’t resist Jiang Xinyu, and reluctantly took the basket she handed over and went home.

At this time, who can afford steamed buns? Sun Ermei looked at her much thinner son, felt determined, and gave them each two buns at lunch, while she drank porridge.

”Dear, about the key?”

”Yes, those two are really skilled, they actually convinced Kong Zhongyou to give me the key.”

”Could Kong Zhongyou also be in on it, trying to harm us?”

Wang Jianqiang shook his head. ”I can’t see that. No matter, I’ll find some people tonight to stay at the warehouse with me. I don’t believe we won’t catch them, Zhou Jiaxing will soon be out of food.”

”Be careful, who will you bring?”

”I’ll bring five other squad leaders, they don’t get along with the Zhou Brothers.”

”Are you going to tell them the truth?”

”Can’t say, that would expose Xinyu, she’s young, and a girl, some things can’t be said.”

”Bring Xiaolong with you then, I don’t feel easy.”

”No need, he stays home, six of us can’t handle the two of them? Besides, they surely won’t let outsiders know, even if they work nonstop for a whole night, they can’t move everything.”

Sun Ermei is fearful and anxious, unable to help.

”Dad, I better go with you, let’s see if I don’t beat them up.”

”I’m afraid you’re too impulsive. We can’t start a fight, even if villagers do, our family can’t get involved, you stay home tomorrow, keep going up the mountain, if you find withered trees, chop them on the mountain and bring them back for Xinyu.”

While the Wang Family was discussing matters, the Zhou Brothers sat at home drinking.

”Ha, Kong Zhongyou is really cunning. But good things can’t all just go to him.” Zhou Xiangxing said sarcastically.

”Brother, since this thing worked out, Lihong doesn’t need to be married off, right?”

”What’s up?”

”I talked to the girl, she was ready to die rather than agree.”

”This is not up to her. On the twentieth day of the twelfth month, we’ll send her over.

What’s wrong with that man? Just a bit older, but he’s capable. Marrying him will ensure she has enough to eat.”
