Chapter 1342: Chapter 1342: Xiang Weinan Departs

Just as Lord Xie was earlier guessed by Xiang Weinan, he is indeed a gentle and non-aggressive character.

However, when he saw Shu Yu, he was very enthusiastic and kind, considering that since he had come to take office, he would certainly inquire about the situation in advance.

Hard to say about other matters, but Shu Yu’s issue was undoubtedly the first thing he heard. After all, the emperor had recalled him to the capital on the grounds that Xiang Weinan discovered and presented new crops. Thus, Shu Yu, who cultivated these, certainly wouldn’t be ignored.

Even though Lord Xie subscribes to the doctrine of the golden mean in conducting affairs and would not impulsively reform, having such a prominent figure who would clearly enhance his political achievements naturally pleased him.

Shu Yu’s first meeting with Lord Xie was very pleasant. Although he was not as aligned and close in thought as Xiang Weinan, it was evident that she wouldn’t face obstacles in whatever she plans to do in the future.

Thus, Shu Yu was relieved.

Xiang Weinan was relieved too.

He and Lord Xie began to handle the handover matters, and amidst their busy schedules, the county examination finally concluded.

The county examination was small in scale, and the release of results was quick, in just five or six days, the results were out.

On the third day after the county examination results were released, Xiang Weinan, bringing along servants and guards, loaded three or four carts full of items, ready to set off back to the capital.

He didn’t see the concubine again, presumably dealt with before the Xiao Family left, Shu Yu roughly guessed that the concubine’s machinations against her were the cause of Xiao Family’s actions.

Who knows how the Xiao Family is faring now?

Xiang Weinan was going back this time to deal with the Xiao Family and the Third Prince; hopefully, the result will be good.

On the day he departed, Shu Yu went out of the city to see him off.

Besides her, there were Zhao Xi, Third Lu, and some wealthy households from the county town who had fairly good relations with Xiang Weinan.

Zhao Xi gave Xiang Weinan some medicine bottles, “I don’t have much to offer you; the capital court is different from here, filled with perilous intrigue. Take care of yourself. These medicines are my token of goodwill.”

Xiang Weinan patted him on the shoulder, “Thank you, take care. I won’t be able to make it for the birth of your child; let me congratulate you here first.”

Concerning gifts, he had already left them behind.

Zhao Xi sighed softly and, seeing others waiting to bid farewell, took a step back.

Just as he was about to stand next to Shu Yu, a figure approached from the left, speaking to Shu Yu first.

“Second Young Lady.” Tang Wenqian’s form of address was still the same as it was in Shangshi Village. After feeling heartache when Shu Yu got engaged last time, he was now relieved and looked at Shu Yu with very gentle eyes.

However, when speaking, his head was slightly lowered, not looking at her more, and seemed a bit embarrassed, “This time, as Lord Xiang returns to the capital, I will go too. But I am unfamiliar with the capital with no foundation, and can’t bring my parents with me. Although it’s a bit abrupt, I still want to ask the Second Young Lady, if they encounter difficulties that they can’t solve, to lend a helping hand. I would be deeply grateful, and if in the future the Second Young Lady needs me for anything, please feel free to instruct.”

Shu Yu looked at the Tang family parents wiping tears in the distance and smiled, “You helped with my sister’s matters before; if your parents have any trouble and I can do something about it, I certainly won’t stand idly by.”

She didn’t like Madam Tang, but Tang Wenqian was really nice.

Out of regard for him, if she could manage, there certainly would be no issue to lend a hand.
