Fully Leveled Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 907: Chapter 907: Lu Sanzhu’s Heritage

Madam Liang silently calculated in her heart and whispered, “Excluding the spare copper coins, our family has about forty-six taels of silver.”

“How much?!” Lu Sanzhu suddenly sat up, his face full of shock, “Fo, forty-six…”

“Are you trying to get us killed by shouting like that?” Madam Liang quickly sat up too and slapped him, “You’ll attract thieves if people hear about our money.”

Lu Sanzhu hurriedly covered his mouth, but still asked in astonishment, “Did you say our family has forty-six taels of silver? When did we get so much money?”

“It’s all saved up, of course.”

Their family initially had about ten taels of silver, which they accumulated over the years through deceiving, tricking, and tightening their belts, painstakingly saving up. This money Madam Liang planned to use for Dabao and Baoya’s future weddings, so it was especially precious.

Latterly, when at Peach Blossom Forest, Yu claimed ten taels of silver from those young masters who bullied Lu Sanzhu as compensation. Thanks to wanting to repay those who helped and to show filial piety to their mother, they took out three taels, leaving seven taels.

Then came the time when Lu Sanzhu started working in the peach forest, initially earning one tael per month, but later his wages were raised three times.

It has been ten months now, the wages totaling twelve taels of silver.

Besides that, Madam Liang helped sew toy outfits; even after the old lady went to the southwest, the ready-to-wear clothes shop continued to sell toys, even doing quite well.

When Madam Liang saw the money they were making in the first few months, she was as energized as if boosted by an injection, and only calmed down a bit after earning four taels of silver.

Despite this, up until now, she made eight or nine taels of silver from sewing toy outfits.

The last big chunk came from Lu Sanzhu’s reward money.

Working in the peach forest, he met many nobles; lively as he was, seeing that the guests were generous, he immediately helped here and there. A casual tip as reward money from them could cover a month’s expenses for the family.

Almost every month he earned some reward money, which was also a crucial reason for his wage increase.

The last time, a visitor from another area lost an important string of beads while playing by the lake, and Lu Sanzhu immediately dived in to retrieve it.

It was the dead of winter, and the bottom of the lake had much sludge. Lu Sanzhu searched for quite a while before finding it, himself turning nearly purple from the cold.

After returning, he fell ill, but fortunately, he has always been in good physical condition and after resting for two days, he was back to work full of energy.

Latterly, that visitor gave him five taels as a reward and also sent some medicinal herbs.

Adding it all up, they had over fifty taels of silver.

However, living here involved renting a house and buying food, and Dabao still needed to attend private school, making expenses much higher than in Shangshi Village.

Madam Liang even considered whether they could get a credit for Dabao’s schooling, planning to repay the tuition later when Dabao made something of himself.

However, the teacher uncompromisingly rejected her, leaving Madam Liang depressed for two days before recovering.

It’s just that Dabao has just started his schooling and the costs are not very high, allowing Madam Liang to save up this much. Otherwise, just the expense of schooling alone would crush many families.

After hearing Madam Liang’s calculated accounts, Lu Sanzhu also did some math in his heart, his eyes shining brighter.

“This is really unexpected, I thought that once our family arrived in the county town, everything would cost money and we might not save up much. But it’s almost fifty taels in just ten months. Wouldn’t it be a hundred taels in another year?”

Lu Sanzhu, too excited to feel sleepy, urged Madam Liang to take out the silver and count it again.
