Gun of Ashes

Lorenzo’s rough attack would certainly not escape Roger’s surveillance, so would Roger make his move now?

Or perhaps...

Shao Liangye had a bad thought pop into his mind.

Perhaps Roger would attack the Death Row directly, in which case Lorenzo would certainly go there to stop Roger, and Roger could destroy everything in one fell swoop.

Unknowingly, the Death Row, which was supposed to be heavily protected, seemed to become the decisive battleground of this war, with countless gamblers flocking there, pouring all they had.

The demons launched their offensive again, with the only fate for these monsters being death. Even though Lorenzo had killed so many, he was still unable to completely deter them.

A dark mass surged again, seemingly endless, no matter how many were killed.

Lorenzo raised his twin swords and directly hacked down at the attacking demons.

Whether the Nail Sword was sharp or not no longer mattered at this moment. It was encrusted with blazing white flames that easily burned the flesh dead, and then the Nail Sword severed the limbs.

The flames lingered on the demons until they were reduced to ashes.

Swinging the Nail Sword, Lorenzo effortlessly shattered the demons into countless ashes, swept by the storm behind him, mingling with the filthy stagnant water.

Even the iron-armored demons couldn’t resist Lorenzo’s onslaught. The seemingly invincible iron armor was easily melted by the high heat, with the blood evaporating before it could flow out.

Lorenzo suddenly found it meaningless, like a lopsided massacre. Even though the slaughter involved his favorite demons, it seemed to hold no sense of achievement.

Perhaps he needed a stronger opponent.

Yes, that’s it, and Lorenzo existed here for all of this, wasn’t it?

The roaring gunfire streaked past Lorenzo, followed by more bullets raining down, breaking the demon tide once again.

Lorenzo rebuilt the defense line for Bola, buying crucial time, and longer than expected, greatly reducing Bola’s pressure with the demons Lorenzo defeated.

[Lorenzo, can you hear me?]

Bola tried asking, this kind of [gap] communication was one-way, without trying it, Bola couldn’t know if Lorenzo was listening.

”What’s up?”

Lorenzo asked back, having always maintained the connection to monitor the situation over at Bola’s side.

The distance between the two was not far, but if Roger suddenly appeared, this distance would seem extremely long.

Lorenzo was strong enough, but facing Roger, he still didn’t have much confidence.

[It’s quite a remarkable power, isn’t it?]

Lorenzo understood Bola’s meaning and didn’t hide it, saying directly.

”Don’t worry, Bola, I’m stable, at least until I end all this damn stuff, I’ll remain stable.”

Hearing such a response, Bola’s words came to a halt, probably not expecting such straightforwardness from Lorenzo, leaving him unsure of what to say for a moment.

[That’s good, I hope we won’t stand on opposite sides someday.]

”Rest assured, I’ll deal with myself before such a situation arises.”

Lorenzo said without hesitation.

”You probably have more to ask, right? If Roger appears, I won’t be this idle.”

The voice paused for a few seconds, then sounded again.

[The pressure here has reduced quite a bit, if possible, I hope you could assist Gawain’s side.]

Bola was very worried about Gawain, who had sought reinforcements not long ago, but with Bola’s side being held up, he couldn’t lend a hand.

”Am I the rescue squad?” Lorenzo chuckled.

[Pretty much. Anyway, try to go see them.]

Lorenzo pondered for a few seconds, then asked.

”Where are they located?”

[At... What are you doing?]

Bola’s words stopped midway as he felt a sharp pain in his mind, an extremely unpleasant sensation in his throat, as if trying to vomit something out.

Erosion, erosion was rapidly expanding, and currently, only Lorenzo could achieve this. What was he doing?

”Trying out some new abilities.”

Lorenzo said as he began to run, feeling pretty good about another attempt, perhaps this was the boost from the power.

The Iron Serpent he was riding had already been engulfed in flames, unclear when the next transport would arrive, and lacking transportation, he could only sprint towards the destination in an extremely primitive way.

Shao Liangye was holding the Hook Gun, traversing the buildings, closely following Lorenzo’s figure, but evidently, his speed was still too slow, gradually widening the distance with Lorenzo.

Fortunately, the erosion emanating from Lorenzo was too obvious, as an anonymous person, it was easy to determine the location.

Only Shao Liangye was a bit puzzled, as with such speed for reinforcement, no matter what, it was still too slow, and he wasn’t aware that at the moment Lorenzo set off, a certain shadow atop the dome had already opened its eyes, sharing vision with Lorenzo, sinking into another realm.

...

”So our task is to fly in the sky? Until that guy calls us, then drop that thing down?”

The conversation happened in the cockpit, where two pilots sat on either side of the control panel, controlling the levers to make the War Airship ascend or dive.

”Probably, it’s a bit boring, but in this situation, boredom is a good thing.”

One of the pilots said.

He looked at the world outside the observation window, the entire Old Dunling shrouded in thick dark clouds, with thunderstorm swirling, and above this gloomy city, he could even observe the presence of several cyclones, stirring the tempest.

”Look at them, low-altitude bombing again, and transporting personnel and supplies.”

Overlooking Old Dunling, amidst the gray darkness, countless light spots burned, the whole Old Dunling had turned into a battlefield, with people and demons dying everywhere.

The other pilot saw this and nodded in agreement.

Indeed, their work was indeed boring, just carrying the cargo in circles above Old Dunling, and dropping it down when necessary.

Simple to the point of absurdity, easier than any task they’ve previously experienced, though mundane, in such a miserable environment, this monotony seemed exceptionally precious.

”But will someone really call us?” The pilot said doubtfully, ”The interference from the erosion is getting worse and worse.”

”Who knows? We just have to fulfill our duties.” The other person said.

During their idle chat, the War Airship suddenly began to tremble violently, shaking continuously, as if to crash.

”What’s happening? Is it strong wind?”

”No... not quite right, the cabin door opened? What’s going on!”

The pilot looked at the lighted signs and said in disbelief.

”Dort! Who opened it?”

”How should I know!”

Dort also yelled, having worked for so long, this was the first time he’d encountered such an inexplicable situation.

”Maybe... maybe it opened by itself.” Another person’s voice began to tremble.

Dort shouted at his colleague, ”Are you stupid, Gerri!”

”It’s possible, remember? I served on the Sailing Dawn before!”

Gerri recalled past experiences, unforgettable memories.

”So...”

Dort’s voice also gradually ceased, recalling the rumor related to the Sailing Dawn, during a certain secret operation, an Armor of Original Sin autonomously activated while unmanned.

The name of that armor was the Black Angel, and in their cabin, they were carrying the Black Angel... or rather, its new model, the Flame Holder.

”Look, Dort.”

Gerri’s voice completely lost its emotion, pointing his finger toward the observation window, Dort followed the direction his colleague pointed to look.

Unknowingly, two scarlet traces had appeared in the airspace in front of them, the flickering flames flowing with black smoke, spiraling along like a drill, closely following the fleeting shadow.

The Flame Holder moved swiftly, like a flash that broke the sky.
