Gun of Ashes

Demons, there are demons everywhere in sight.

Bola’s mood had shifted from terrible to numb. Initially finding the situation daunting, now his mind was empty, relying solely on instinctive counterattacks.

Thankfully, the sea of fire blocked most of the demons’ advance, alleviating tremendous pressure, yet the threat still loomed.

A swift dark shadow flashed before his eyes. The Weapon Master raised his sword to block, only to hear the piercing clash as metal cuts against metal, immediately followed by a burst of spreading steam.

The Weapon Master fell back, his steps staggering, his sword suddenly pierced downward into the puddled water, barely stabilizing himself.

Bola looked up. Reflected on the cracked blade was the wounded Weapon Master, and before Bola stood the Iron Armor Demon.

These beings were far more troublesome than expected; flames couldn’t injure them, and bullets couldn’t penetrate the iron armor. They were enwrapped entirely in this dense, almost metallic hard shell, with only the soft mouth as their weakness.

”Anonymous soldiers!”

Bola shouted, simultaneously charging forward once more.

The Weapon Master picked up his armor fire-gun and fired, an incandescent light shaping into a dragon’s breath, instantly engulfing the demon’s body, as the Weapon Master malevolently swung his sword under the veiled sight.

Amidst the deafening vibration, the sword shattered into countless metal fragments slicing through the air, igniting countless sparks.

Correspondingly, countless dents appeared on the demon’s sturdy iron armor, and finally, a blow pierced the hard surface, injuring its flesh as blood seeped through the cracks.

”Anonymous soldiers!”

Bola shouted again, urging persistently.

The Weapon Master abruptly turned, clasping the demon’s throat. Close combat wasn’t an advantage for the Armor of Original Sin, but Bola had no choice at that moment.

The engine overloaded, the mechanical arm locked tight, and the Weapon Master held fast to the demon. Just as Bola prepared to shout again, reinforcements from Anonymous soldiers arrived beyond the rain haze.

The location of the Ghostly Floating Massacre was heavily obscured by the rain haze... no, it wasn’t rain haze, but billowing steam. Dense steam continued to release until crimson light glowed within the thick fog.

It was as if a hellish flame ignited, with Ghostly Floating Massacre setting up a heavy, crossbow-like cannon frame.

Trigger pulled.

The weapon on the crossbow was launched, Bola couldn’t see its form, nor its trajectory.

All he saw was the pierced rain haze, frozen as if suspended in mid-air, only to be dispersed by a wild wind shortly after.

Bola saw it, in high-speed motion, twisted into a pale beam of light, penetrating through the rain haze, then striking the demon anchored by the Weapon Master.

A bee-like sharp sound pierced the air high above; Bola felt the whole Weapon Master tremble uncontrollably, as the world before him spiraled into chaotic tremors.

The demon ceased struggling, the Weapon Master released it, and the lifeless body collapsed, only then did Bola clearly see the object.

After a dazzling spark, a spiral spearhead plunged along the dents in the iron armor, piercing the demon’s iron armor in one strike. Twisting with blood, in its rotating advance, it tore, shattered its bones and viscera, totally destroying its chest, then protruded from the back.

This inevitably made Bola recall soldiers penetrated by spears on battlefields hundreds of years ago.

Humans are ultimately too weak; they must be doubly careful and employ every cunning and stratagem to combat powerful enemies.

Since the torrential rain following the Black Mountain Hospital, in Night Owl’s report, the Purification Mechanism recognized these empowered demons, and to prevent possible future encounters, the Perpetual Motion Pump secretly developed this weapon.

The spiral spear entirely forged from high-strength Pine Iron, driven by fuel and compressed steam, capable of penetrating and slaughtering at short distances.

Created specifically to counter the demons’ iron armor, the weapon has now finally emerged from sealed storage.

”Reload!”

Bola shouted, and beside him, the Sword Dancer quickly advanced, joining other advancing Peacekeepers to impede the Iron Armor Demons’ progress, buying time for the spiral spear’s next launch.

This weapon targeted solely at iron armor, and its design didn’t undergo much iteration, still harboring many inadequacies, which on the battlefield required the soldiers to compensate for.

Excessive Lacquered Antimony burned away, the sea of fire gradually lost its initial ferocity, as some tenacious ordinary demons crawled out of the blaze.

The Weapon Master hurled the Broken Sword at the approaching demon, still smeared with flames; before it could decide further, the descending Broken Sword split its head open.

It reached out, stepping forcefully on the Iron Armor Demon’s corpse, pulling the spiral spear out, then swinging it mightily.

Several meters high spray scattered, immediately forcing the approaching demons back.

Suddenly, a dark shadow shrouded the Weapon Master, a demon clung to the wall, lunging at the Weapon Master from above.

But before it descended, the Giant Axe chopped down, cleaving the demon in half, its spine shattered, blood mixed with innards spilled over the Weapon Master, some even splattered into the face armor.

”Advance!”

A muffled voice sounded, carrying a bizarre accent.
