Gun of Ashes

Just as Lorenzo said, Reindona Port is a city where light and darkness coexist, completely intertwined, and sometimes you might be just a step away from the ”Lower City District.”

The carriage slowly stopped on the bustling street, looking out the window, the Blue Whale Hotel was on the other side of the street, a few security guards were standing watch outside the door, and judging by the prominent bulges at their waists, each one was carrying a handgun.

”These are just for show. As a black-and-white trading point, its security certainly doesn’t stop there.”

Lorenzo withdrew his gaze and said to the guys sitting opposite him.

”So act as I said, understand?”

The other two in the carriage nodded in agreement, and at this moment, the partition was pulled back, and Red Falcon’s eyes peeked in from outside the carriage.

”So what’s going on? What am I supposed to do next? Open fire on those guys? I’m really good at that.”

Since it couldn’t be changed, he might as well enjoy it.

Realizing this, Red Falcon began to work hard, but perhaps the stimuli were too much; seeing him so eager to work made the others a bit uneasy.

”Ah, your part, Red Falcon! Later, when we return to the carriage, and I say run, you run for your life. Many will chase us, so find a way to shake them off.”

”Oh oh... wait!”

Red Falcon nodded as he listened, but quickly felt something was off, and Lorenzo didn’t wait for him to ask further, pulling up the partition directly.

”Then let’s begin! Hebdo, it’s our first collaboration, let’s not disappoint each other too much.”

Lorenzo pulled up Eve beside him, pushing open the car door as he spoke to Hebdo.

Hebdo struggled to smile at Lorenzo, also looking forward to what this first collaboration would be like, but due to the cramped carriage, he sat uncomfortably, like stuffing a bear into a wardrobe.

The cool air filled his nose and mouth, carrying a hint of sea breeze. When you tasted it carefully, the flavor became intriguing, with coal, fishy, and blood scents.

Lorenzo stood on the street, tidying his clothes. He took a deep breath, feeling the chaos and harmony here.

Exquisite buildings stretched endlessly, but in the shadowy alleys came the wails of people; this was a large Lower City District, and Lorenzo liked such an atmosphere.

”So let’s go.”

In an elegant manner, Lorenzo took Eve’s hand, and Eve, accustomed to such covert operations, cooperated with Lorenzo as they moved forward.

They walked towards the Blue Whale Hotel like that, ignoring Red Falcon’s shouts from the carriage behind.

Unlike these well-dressed guys, Red Falcon was barely clothed in something decent, clutching the reins with both hands, looking rather downcast on the cold street, while at the end of his vision, that guy was walking towards the exquisite hotel with the girl.

Red Falcon was filled with mixed emotions for a moment; he thought he would be a heaven-sent warrior, only to find out in Lorenzo’s plan, he was merely a coachman.

”Good luck, friend, our life and death depend on you.”

After Lorenzo left shortly, the carriage shook. Hebdo looked at his wristwatch, calculated the time, and got off the carriage.

He wore quite shabby clothes and carried a sealed box in his hand, with a note on it.

”I’m playing the role of a courier this time, what do you think?”

Hebdo tucked the box under his arm, it was heavy, and he didn’t know what Lorenzo had put inside.

”Not bad.”

Red Falcon looked at Hebdo’s appearance; it indeed looked like a courier. The only thing that caught attention was that this courier was overly robust, as if someone would rob his goods on his delivery route.

”You’re not bad either, coachman.”

Hebdo smiled at Red Falcon and then headed towards the Blue Whale Hotel, leaving the coachman standing there alone, who cursed aloud after a moment of bewilderment.

...

”So how do you plan to do it this time? I didn’t get a chance to hide any weapons.”

This time, Eve wore a more form-fitting dress, with no space to conceal weapons, and from her previous observations, Lorenzo hadn’t brought any weapons either. The two of them came here empty-handed just like that.

She never doubted Lorenzo’s combat ability; even bare-handed, this guy could easily strangle a bull, perhaps even twist off its neck along with it.

”We don’t need to bring weapons; dealing with an ordinary woman bare-handed is too easy. Besides, Hebdo said many are watching us. If possible, avoid bloodshed and don’t alarm anyone.”

Lorenzo gazed ahead and said softly.

This was the tricky part of the operation; before they were completely exposed to the enemy, Lorenzo had to minimize the impact of their actions as much as possible. After all, thinking worst-case scenario, this incident could potentially ignite a war between nations.

It’s troublesome but also very interesting; Lorenzo was very curious about what the answer would be, whether it would be as he guessed.

”Remember when we went to see Sabo? Try to recall that feeling; this place is actually no different from the Underground Palace at that time; both are gathering grounds for underworld forces, though this place might have a better environment... at least it’s above ground.”

Lorenzo looked up at the towering building.
