Super Gene Hunting Ground

Wanyan Kang’s heart skipped a beat, damn it, just registered and they’re already sending me away?

However, the current situation is indeed unusual; no one knows whether the Great Dragon Empire will act up again. Besides, apart from the Flying Leopard Emperor, he is the deputy commander of the army, and it’s reasonable to send him to the border to lead the troops.

Wanyan Kang braced himself, stepped forward, and bowed:

”Your Majesty, I should go to defend the border immediately, but the late Emperor just passed away, I wish to see him off on his last journey. May I go after the funeral is done?”

Wanyan He said:

”General Kang, your loyalty and filial piety are commendable, but during this critical time, we cannot afford any delays. Only General Kang has the capability to lead the tens of thousands of troops at the border. I understand the deep bond you shared with my father; attending his funeral is right,

but if the Great Dragon Empire were to launch a sneak attack while we are in mourning nationwide, wouldn’t we face disaster?”

Wanyan Kang was stunned, unable to find a better argument.

Standing by, Dean Xinghai solemnly said:

”General Kang, everything should prioritize the greater good of the Empire. Loyalty and filial piety cannot both be fulfilled; everyone knows of your filial piety to the late Emperor, but defending the border and ensuring the Empire’s safety is the greatest loyalty and filial piety!”

Wanyan Kang, with no other choice, bowed and said:

”In that case, I now bid farewell to the late Emperor.”

With that, he walked to the late Emperor’s crystal coffin, knelt, and kowtowed, sobbing a few times before leaving with tears.

Wanyan He then announced a national mourning, to lament for three days and hold a state funeral ceremony.

The ministers and war generals left.

Wanyan He convened a secret meeting with Yang Xiao and Dean Xinghai.

”Dean, Brother Yang, what should I do?”

Dean Xinghai laughed:

”You did very well just now, using the excuse of defending the border to move Wanyan Kang out of Wentian City.”

Wanyan He said helplessly:

”Wanyan Kang holds too much power, with too many confidants. Only by temporarily sending him out of Wentian City can I feel a bit more at ease.”

Yang Xiao said:

”During this period, I also need to trouble the Dean to temporarily stay in the Royal Palace. Only you can deter Wanyan Kang.”

Dean Xinghai nodded,

”I have no problem staying for a while.”

Yang Xiao continued:

”Apart from reclaiming the guard command of Wentian City for His Majesty, the suburb of Wentian City also has twenty thousand elite guards. The commander must also be reliable, and, if necessary, all the middle-level officers inside must be replaced to ensure control.”

Wanyan He said:

”That’s not a big issue, the commander of the suburban forces has always been an old minister of my father, who instructed loyalty to me before he passed.”

Yang Xiao added:

”Regarding Wanyan Kang, we cannot push him too hard for now. Let him stay at the border for a while, and bring him back once Wentian City is stable.

On the surface, we must appease Wanyan Kang, reward him, draw him in. As long as he doesn’t harbor rebellious thoughts, he is still a talent that can be employed.”

Wanyan He said:

”Brother Yang is right. I plan to confer Wanyan Kang the title of ’National Elder’ and lavishly reward him with the highest honor.”

...

Three days later, the late King held a grand funeral ceremony, attended by an Elder from the Genetic Store Headquarters,

Additionally, the King of the Youming Empire personally attended, with representatives from over a hundred Empires across Witch Star, as well as delegates from the Great Dragon Empire.

About half a month after the funeral, Wanyan He, with the support of Yang Xiao and Dean Xinghai, gradually adjusted personnel in several key departments of the Inner Empire, essentially taking control of the Empire’s overall situation.

Wanyan Kang, far away at the border, although receiving some messages from his subordinates, was unable to interfere with Wanyan He’s normal personnel adjustments.

Moreover, Wanyan Kang himself and his family received honors from the new Emperor; Xiao Gang went to the border on the Emperor’s behalf to reward the troops, announcing the Emperor’s conferment of the title ’National Elder’ upon Wanyan Kang.

Half a month later, Wanyan He transferred Wanyan Kang back to Wentian City and sent another Clan Elder to lead the border army.

When Wanyan Kang returned to Wentian City, he did not show any obvious dissatisfaction, marking an initial crossing of the hurdle for Wanyan He.

Yang Xiao remained concerned about his compatriots on Earth; unknown to him was the situation regarding what Long Aotian was doing on Earth, and he was eager to make a fast visit back to Earth to see for himself.

However, he was currently unable to leave, as Wanyan He needed Yang Xiao’s assistance to stabilize the Empire.

”Brother Yang, I know you are very concerned about your clansmen on Earth. How about this, I send an interstellar spaceship to Purple Origin Star to pick up your brothers and have them return to Earth to check out the situation, okay?”

Yang Xiao had no better solution; the Flying Leopard Empire was an extremely important part of his interests, and any slip-up would mean the loss of his base of operations on Witch Star, making Purple Origin Star difficult to preserve.

”Alright then, I’ll compile a list, and you send someone to Purple Origin Star to find the Barbarian King, and have those brothers take a look at the situation on Earth.”
