Super Gene Hunting Ground

Yang Xiao exclaimed ”Wow,” leaving the Dean Zhu Peng blushing, and awkwardly said:

”Witch Star has four major academies, Heavenly Dragon Academy of the Great Dragon Empire, Holy Image Academy of the Youming Empire, and our Flying Leopard Academy of the Flying Leopard Empire. Our Flying Leopard Academy is the worst.”

Yang Xiao was taken aback and said:

”Dean Zhu, did your math teacher teach physical education? There are clearly only three major academies, where did the fourth one come from?”

”Hehe, there’s also Jialuo Academy located at the Galuo Mountain where the Genetic Store Headquarters is. It’s the most powerful academy on Witch Star, but Jialuo Academy doesn’t just train Genetic Evolution; it also includes Alchemy, Artifact Refining, Weapons, and Genetic Potion content.”

”Oh, I see. So, what you’re saying is Flying Leopard Academy is the worst among the four academies?”

”Ahem, it’s not necessarily the worst, just relatively weaker.”

Zhu Peng found the word ”weaker” to preserve some dignity.

Yang Xiao laughed and said:

”I can participate in the training, but I’m not sure I can be much help. If you feel I’m not up to standard, feel free to replace me anytime.”

”Hehe, as for other realms, I can’t say, but for the Empire Level Primary Level Realm, you’re already the top choice in Flying Leopard Academy.”

Everyone understood the battle between Yang Xiao and Qin Xiaotian, and even if Yang Xiao did not use a Divine Weapon, his combat power exceeded the Empire Level Primary Level Realm.

Yang Xiao laughed softly,

”You’re too kind.”

The next day, Zhu Peng took Yang Xiao to the Transmission Array on the academy’s playground.

The Primary Academy Department is in the valley, the Advanced Academy Department is halfway up the mountain, and between them is a small path about two thousand meters long. To facilitate personnel movement, the academy specially built a Transmission Array on the Primary Academy Department’s square, allowing direct teleports to the Advanced Academy Department’s square.

”Yang Xiao, this Transmission Array is only available to instructors and students of the Advanced Academy Department. Your jade token has been temporarily modified to allow use of the Transmission Array.”

Zhu Peng finished speaking, entered the Transmission Array, and swiped his jade token on it.

Yang Xiao followed suit and entered the Transmission Array.

A flash of light appeared, and both disappeared.

Yang Xiao arrived at the Advanced Academy Department.

Yang Xiao glanced around at the environment; it was situated halfway up the mountain, beautiful and serene.

Zhu Peng led Yang Xiao into a small courtyard, where four individuals were seated under a pavilion—a middle-aged man and three youths.

Among the three youths were two males and one female. The female was beautiful and elegant in her demeanor, and the males were handsome and impressive.

They were clearly remarkably sophisticated individuals.

Zhu Peng called out from a distance:

”Hello, Master Lei.”

”Hehe, it’s Dean Zhu Peng.”

”Yang Xiao, let me introduce you; this is Master Lei, responsible for your training for the next two months.”

Yang Xiao quickly bowed,

”I’m Yang Xiao, paying respects to Master Lei.”

Master Lei sat casually on the stone stool in the pavilion, smiling at Yang Xiao, and lightly said:

”You are Yang Xiao, the one who killed Qin Xiaotian?”

”Yes, indeed.”

”The Dean recommended you to me, saying that although you just broke through to the Empire Level Realm, your combat power is already the strongest in the Empire Level Primary Realm. You know we’re competing with Heavenly Dragon Academy soon, which involves Flying Leopard Empire’s reputation.

Even though you killed Qin Xiaotian, Qin Xiaotian was not the strongest among the Empire Level Primary Realm’s over a thousand students. At least three hundred have combat power surpassing him, so I inevitably need to assess your combat power.”

The two youths sitting next to Master Lei looked at Yang Xiao, expressing indifference.

Master Lei and these three youths had not personally witnessed the battle between Yang Xiao and Qin Xiaotian, thus doubted Yang Xiao’s combat power.

These three youths were all at the Empire Level Peak Realm; they started special training six months ago for the academy’s exchange competition. In truth, they could have broken through to the Empire Middle Level Realm long ago but held back to prepare for the competition against Heavenly Dragon Academy.

Originally, the three were already confirmed for the quota, but with the sudden addition of Yang Xiao, one of them must be eliminated.

Neither Master Lei nor the three believed Yang Xiao, who had just broken through to the Empire Level Primary Realm, could become number one in the Empire Level Primary Realm, even if he had killed Qin Xiaotian.

Impossible!

Master Lei was the chief mentor for this competition, with the authority to decide whom to use. The Dean had personally recommended Yang Xiao, and Yang Xiao’s recent fame and ability to kill Qin Xiaotian indeed indicated extraordinary combat power.

Yet, Master Lei still wanted to initially assess Yang Xiao’s situation; if it was exaggerated, he wouldn’t accept.

Yang Xiao smiled softly, modestly saying:

”All this talk of being number one in the Empire Level Primary Realm is just the Dean’s exaggerated praise; I don’t have that capability.”

”Heh, no need to be modest; you naturally can’t be the number one at the Empire Level Primary Realm. There’s something you need to know: the exchange competition does not allow using weapons; it’s all about real capabilities—are you aware?”

Master Lei naturally referred to Yang Xiao’s Two-star Divine Weapon.

One of the youths, named Gong Yu, said meaningfully:

”I heard you defeated Qin Xiaotian wielding a Two-star Divine Weapon.”

”Yes.”

Gong Yu didn’t respond further, clearly implying that relying on the Two-star Divine Weapon’s power doesn’t count as true ability for the exchange competition.

Yang Xiao responded calmly:

”I wonder how Master Lei intends to assess my combat power.”

Master Lei glanced at Gong Yu beside him and said:

”You go spar with Yang Xiao, be mindful of your limits, and careful not to kill him.”

”Alright, don’t worry. But punches and kicks don’t discriminate; injury is inevitable.”

”Yes, no worries, as long as it’s not fatal.”

Yang Xiao: ”...”

From Master Lei and Gong Yu’s dialogue attitude, it seemed as though Yang Xiao was already theirs for the taking.

What the hell, are you underestimating me that much?

In front of the pavilion was a cleared pebble-stone ground designated for cultivation—a Martial Arts Training Ground.

Gong Yu stood up confidently and positioned himself on that open ground.

Yang Xiao glanced at Zhu Peng,

Zhu Peng nodded.

Here, Zhu Peng had no say; he was simply responsible for bringing Yang Xiao over, and whether Master Lei accepted Yang Xiao depended entirely on Master Lei, even the Dean could not interfere.

Yang Xiao knew he couldn’t evade,

nodding, and calmly walked over.

Gong Yu smiled slightly and said with poise:

”You’re a junior student, I’ll let you have the first move.”

”Are you sure?”

”Hehe, go ahead. Gong Yu always keeps his word.”

Before the word ”gold” was fully spoken,

Yang Xiao suddenly stepped forward, delivering a punch right in front of Gong Yu.

Damn it, I won’t be polite with you.

Gong Yu felt a sudden tremble inside; Yang Xiao’s punch carried extraordinary attack energy far exceeding his expectations, hastily meeting Yang Xiao’s punch.

Gong Yu could have dodged, but how embarrassing would that be?

Promised to let Yang Xiao take the first punch—if he dodged like that, it would expose his hard proficiency weaker than Yang Xiao’s.

Have to grit your teeth and take it on; Gong Yu also couldn’t believe Yang Xiao, a newcomer to the Empire Level Primary Realm, could have greater combat power than him.

”Boom!”

With a loud bang,

Gong Yu’s body flew backward violently, ”crack,” crashing a large tree off dozens of meters away.

Originally sipping tea leisurely, Master Lei almost got choked on a mouthful of tea,

”Cough, cough, cough…”

Coughing repeatedly, tea sprayed everywhere.

The two youth beside him had their expressions change, previously entertained, now serious.

Only Zhu Peng sat idly next to the stone table, picking up the teapot and pouring himself a cup of tea.

”Hmm, this tea is nice, but alas, it’s a bit cold.”
