Super Gene Hunting Ground

Xiao He found Principal Xinghai.

Principal Xinghai saw Xiao He and immediately stood up.

”Young Master Xiao, you’ve come.”

”Greetings to the Principal.”

Principal Xinghai nodded and said to a guard in the office:

”Please step out for a while, shut the door and stand outside. I have something to discuss with Young Master Xiao and no one should disturb us.”

”Yes!”

The guard exited the office, closed the door, and stood outside.

Xiao He sat down.

Xinghai said:

”Young Master, is there something you’ve come to discuss?”

”I want to know where Yang Xiao is?”

”He is in a safe place right now; I wonder what Young Master seeks from him?”

”Oh, nothing much. Yang Xiao killed Qin Xiaotian, so I thought he might be in danger and wanted to see if I could help him.”

”Hmm, it’s rare for Young Master to have such goodwill. For now, Yang Xiao doesn’t need assistance. Haha, with the academy’s protection, anyone wanting to harm him will have to think twice!”

”Do you, as Principal, think someone like Yang Xiao is worth befriending? Also, what about his evolution potential?”

Principal Xinghai paused for a moment and said:

”From what I understand, Yang Xiao is a faithful, kind-hearted, and compassionate person, entirely different from those deceitful who only chase profits. He is certainly worth befriending.”

”Good-natured? In this world, good-natured people often die easily.”

”Yet, when befriending someone, is kindness not a valued trait? If Yang Xiao were treacherous and sinister, would Young Master still want to befriend him?”

Xiao He nodded.

”The Principal is right; the character quality determines the depth of friendship between people. Naturally, I would prefer to befriend someone with good character. Based on your judgment, how is Yang Xiao’s evolution potential?”

”At least Emperor Level or above,”

”At least?”

”Yes, he might even reach Saint Level someday.”

”In that case, Yang Xiao is quite a talent.”

”In my intuition, he is at least a once-in-a-century genius. If Young Master wishes to meet Yang Xiao, I can arrange it.”

”Great, then I’ll trouble the Principal for assistance.”

Principal Xinghai gave a light smile,

”It’s a small matter. I’m pleased to help Young Master, but many things also depend on fate.”

Xiao He nodded, showing agreement.

...

Yang Xiao now begins cultivating the Life and Death Iteration Law in the library’s backyard.

He needs to condense a warm stream into an inner core within his body again, then have Elder Ye pierce him with a sword, or he might try the Heavenly Silkworm Technique himself to reach a critical near-death state.

The Life and Death Iteration Law has ten levels, and each advancement makes the inner core vanish, requiring more time to cultivate a new one.

Only when the energy within the inner core accumulates to a certain level can the most dangerous step begin, entering a temporary death state.

At Yang Xiao’s current pace, condensing the inner core of the Life and Death Iteration Law would take at least over a month. The higher the iteration level, the longer the condensation of the inner core takes.

Yang Xiao is not eager to hurry; during the day, he spends half the time cultivating the Life and Death Iteration Law and continues reading books the rest of the day.

After midnight, the library is usually empty, he would enter the library, return some read books to the shelves, and fetch other books that need reading.

Elder Ye spends most of his time sleeping on a couch, whether day or night, rarely speaking to Yang Xiao, only occasionally uttering a few words.

If Yang Xiao wasn’t familiar with Elder Ye, he would have thought the old man was near death.

Yang Xiao doesn’t cook for him, and both have meals brought by specialized guards from the canteen without paying.

At midnight, Elder Ye would come to the library for a brief look and organize scattered books.

Yang Xiao never really saw the old man moving; he just flitted between bookshelves, and a gust of wind would go by, leaving all the books neatly arranged.

Yang Xiao startled and asked,

”Elder Ye, what cultivation technique is this?”

”Spiritual power, haven’t you learned it before?”

”I did learn but not very proficiently.”

”Oh, how about I teach you?”

”Really?”

”Come, come, this old man loves eager youngsters. In cultivating spiritual power, Old man has unique methods, here, listen,

These books here were disturbed during the day, unevenly placed back, you see, standing here at the edge of the shelf, use your spiritual power to align all the books in a neat fashion just as I do.....”

After explaining, Elder Ye stood at a row of bookshelves, his Divine Sense slightly moved,

Yang Xiao saw hundreds of books slightly vibrating along the shelves, instantaneously aligned, and unavoidably exclaimed,

”Elder Ye’s spiritual power is so profound; he can control hundreds of targets at once?”

”Haha, at first, I could only control a dozen or so, but after cultivating for a long time, I could control hundreds at once.”

”Ah, may I ask how long Elder Ye has spent?”

”About thirty years!”

”@#￥%”

”Haha, you don’t have to control that many at once, young man. Start by controlling a few books and gradually expand to controlling dozens, eventually reach hundred, even hundreds. If you can control a hundred, you’d be pretty good. Alright, I’ve taught you the method, try practicing, I’m heading to the second and third floor to organize books.”

After speaking, the old man vanished in a blink.

Yang Xiao hadn’t practiced spiritual power for a long time; even playing Go was futile as he found no opponents,

since coming to Witch Star, he wandered around, first being chased by the Eldest Prince in Dragon City of the Great Dragon Empire, later hid in a slum for a while, and ultimately had to flee to Leopard City thousands of miles away due to pursuit.

Yang Xiao pondered slightly, focused his energy, and used the method Elder Ye taught to use spiritual power to control ten books simultaneously.

At that moment, his mind was clear, and ten books’ shadows appeared in his mind.

Yang Xiao’s Divine Sense slightly moved, under the control of spiritual power, ten books started aligning uniformly.

Then, Yang Xiao discovered a new problem; each book has different sizes and weights, thus requiring different strength for control, which was difficult,

The same force, yet varying sizes and weights would yield different movements,

To align all the books, spiritual power had to differ for each.

Yang Xiao once refined his spiritual power through playing Go, where occupying opponents’ territories elicited a spiritual power competition.

Each move, capturing changes, could affect local or overall Go board battle status, greatly influencing spiritual power.

Now, Elder Ye’s spiritual training method was indeed novel, controlling shelves varied-sized and weighted books, segregated spiritual power into dozens, even hundreds of distinct lines, each precisely controlling an object, demanding high spiritual power, but such training produced special effects.

Yang Xiao previously could control dozens of Go stones, but now struggled with ten different books.

Because all Go stones held similar shape and weight, while each book differed greatly, thus extremely traversed to simultaneously maneuver.

Yang Xiao, following Elder Ye’s method, kept trying, each effort barely managed to align ten books at once, sweating profusely after ten minutes, only tidying two shelves.

There were a hundred shelves on the entire first floor.

”Damn it, even working till dawn wouldn’t finish!”

Unbeknownst to Yang Xiao, Elder Ye returned and stood behind him.

Seeing Yang Xiao drenched in sweat, Elder Ye laughed and said:

”Today I’ll help you with half of the bookshelves, after midnight daily, you’ll be responsible for organizing half the first floor books, a month later, the entire first-floor books are yours to organize. Remember, don’t sleep until finished.”

The old man said and vanished along the shelf aisles, a rustling sound followed, all books slightly vibrated, repositioned accordingly.

The old man had already vanished to sleep.

”Shit!”

Yang Xiao cursed softly.

Yang Xiao began slowly organizing along the shelves, after an hour, felt utterly drained, hurriedly consumed a Replenishing Essence Pill to restore his Qi.

Feeling it wasn’t enough, he took a Big Blood Pill to regain stamina.

After a brief rest, Yang Xiao continued using spiritual power to tidy the bookshelves, worked until 5 a.m., completely exhausted, returned to the library’s backyard room, and fell asleep.

He felt utterly emptied, extremely weak.

Elder Ye was lying under a large tree in the courtyard on a recliner, eyes closed, smiling slightly, continued sleeping with thunderous snoring.
