Super Gene Hunting Ground

The two severely injured royal guards took Medium Blood Pills, hid in the slum to rest for a while, without waiting to check the situation, hurried back to the guard base, organizing new personnel while reporting to the higher-level guard organization.

An hour later, Long Aotian arrived with over a hundred elite guards, landing in the slum.

Seeing the gruesome scene, Long Aotian frowned.

The two severely injured royal guards had now recovered about eighty percent.

”What’s going on exactly?”

”Reporting to the Prince, someone reported that the wanted criminal Yang Xiao was hiding in the slum. Captain Chen led us here to capture Yang Xiao, but Yang Xiao was exceptionally strong, far exceeding our estimates,

we were no match for him. Including the informant, he killed fourteen of us.”

”Did Yang Xiao say anything?”

”This,”

The two guards exchanged a glance, looking troubled.

Long Aotian snorted coldly and said:

”Speak frankly.”

”Forgive us, Prince. The wanted criminal Yang Xiao was extremely arrogant, he boastfully said, ’Tell Long Aotian that sooner or later, I will come to take his pathetic life.’

The guard imitated Yang Xiao’s tone quite accurately.

The surrounding hundred guards were stunned, staring dumbfounded at that guard.

That guard coughed lightly, ”That’s exactly what he said.”

The companion next to him nudged his back with a hand, whispering:

”Are you stupid?”

Long Aotian looked annoyed, glaring at the guard and then asked:

”Why was Yang Xiao hiding in the slum?”

”Reporting to the Eldest Prince, Yang Xiao somehow got acquainted with Elder Zhan from the slum, pretended to be his son, and misled us.”

”Surround the slum, conduct a thorough search to find Yang Xiao, gather two hundred more guards, turn the slum upside down if necessary, just find Yang Xiao.”

”Yes.”

Soon, the slum was surrounded.

Hundreds of guards searched door-to-door in the slum, chaotic and noisy, with complaints all around.

After a long search, not a single clue was found.

Long Aotian, frustrated and angry, shouted:

”The slum’s ruffians are sheltering the wanted criminal, colluding with him, threatening the Great Dragon Empire’s safety. Burn it down!”

”Your Highness, this?”

A captain of the guards hesitated, looking at Long Aotian, whispering:

”Your Highness, setting fire to the slum would cause major casualties, the impact is too great. Please reconsider; furthermore, the Fourth Prince would use this incident against you, damaging your reputation.”

Long Aotian snorted coldly,

”Without punishing one to warn others, how would these lowly people learn to follow the laws of the Great Dragon Empire? Isn’t harboring a wanted criminal punishable by exterminating the entire family? Enough talk, burn it, let these people learn the consequences of harboring a criminal, set it ablaze!”

The captain of guards could only lower his head helplessly and said:

”Yes, Your Highness, please step away to avoid being harmed by the fire.”

”Send people to the Eastern Suburb, Southern Suburb, and Northern Suburb slums to search for Yang Xiao and warn them, anyone who dares shelter the criminal will face the same fate as the Western Suburb, their homes set ablaze.”

After Long Aotian finished speaking, he flew off with his personal guards.

The captain of guards sighed heavily and instructed:

”Go, inform everyone in the slum that we will set the slum on fire soon, and they should escape quickly for their lives.”

”Sir, truly set it ablaze?”

”Nonsense, can you defy the Prince’s orders?”

”But,”

”No buts, first give the order, give these people an hour to escape, let them pack up valuables and run, that’s all we can do, otherwise defying the Prince’s orders, neither you nor I will survive.”

”Yes.”

Shortly afterward, tens of thousands of people in the slum cried out in despair, masses knelt before the captain of guards, pleading.

”Sirs, please spare us, we are already living so hard, this is our only shelter, if we lose it, how can we survive?”

”We didn’t know Yang Xiao was a criminal. Until today, I still don’t know him.”

”Please have mercy, we’re begging you.”

...

The place was filled with cries.

The captain of guards frowned and shouted loudly:

”Listen, everyone, this is the Prince’s order, no one can change it, now you have one hour to pack and escape, an hour from now, we’ll ignite the fire. Rather than pleading here, you should quickly run.

I’ve already defied the Prince’s immediate order to burn, that’s all I can do, be content.”

The people knew the inevitability, each cried and hurried back home to pack up valuables, bringing along clothes and bedding to escape.

An hour later, the slum was blazing, illuminating half the sky.

Cries shook the heavens.

...

In the night, Yang Xiao brought Bing’er directly to the Genetic Store Headquarters, seeking out Gu Hai.

Gu Hai brought Yang Xiao to his room.

”Yang Xiao, why did you come early, three days left.”

”Master Gu Hai, Long Aotian’s men discovered me, after a fierce battle, I killed over a dozen of them, I have nowhere else to go but here, seeking your help.”

Gu Hai looked at Yang Xiao seriously; he clearly hadn’t expected such an accident.

”You weren’t seen when you came in, were you?”

”No, I wore a cloak, holding Bing’er in my arms, no one noticed.”

”There are a few empty rooms in the backyard of the Genetic Store. You should go rest in the back. Do you have food?”

”Yes, my Space Ring has enough food for half a month.”

”That’s good, then I don’t need to send you food, which might expose you. You’ve stirred things up, the entire Dragon City will be alarmed; you stay in the backyard room for three days. Once our Genetic Store’s spaceship arrives, I’ll send you out of Dragon City immediately.”

”Thank you, Master Gu Hai, this grace is unforgettable. If given a chance, I will certainly repay.”

”Ah, no need for formalities, Young Master Yang. You are a friend of our Great Elder, someone he specifically asked us to take care of. This minor task is a mere trifle for our Genetic Store.

No matter what, Long Aotian wouldn’t suspect us, and not even the Emperor of Great Dragon has the authority to search our Genetic Store. Rest easy.”

”Thank you, Master Gu Hai.”

”No need for thanks, I’ll personally escort you to the backyard.”

Gu Hai led Yang Xiao to the Genetic Store Headquarters’ backyard, opened a room, and sent Yang Xiao inside.

”Young Master Yang, it’s inconvenient, but stay inside unless someone comes to fetch you, you mustn’t come out.”

”Alright.”

(Perhaps there’ll be a fifth update tonight)
