Super Gene Hunting Ground

Yang Xiao naturally didn’t want to blow things up because of his gluttony, so he said:

”Minister Liu, it’s just a meal, is it worth this fuss? Aren’t you considering the Eldest Prince’s reputation at all?”

Minister Liu sneered:

”Dining without paying at the Royal Inn affects the royal family’s reputation. Even if the Eldest Prince dines here, he pays properly. Who do you guys think you are?”

”Can’t you send someone to notify the Eldest Prince and ask if he instructed us to eat here? What if you’ve misunderstood?”

”I don’t have the time to bicker with you scoundrels. Don’t expect to stall. Pay up, or no one can save you.”

Xue Gang suddenly remembered and said:

”Minister Liu, I’ll say it again, it’s the Eldest Prince who asked us to stay here, and all expenses are on his tab. How about this, you contact the Prince through the inn’s communication system and ask him, won’t that clear things up?

As a guard of the Royal Palace, would I be foolish enough to dine and dash here?”

Minister Liu was taken aback, hesitated for a moment.

A guard beside him whispered:

”Minister Liu, maybe contact the Prince Manor, and ask, lest it be a misunderstanding. That would be a big problem.”

Minister Liu thought about it, nodded, and said:

”You guys keep an eye on them here, don’t let them escape. I’ll go inquire.”

That waitress brought over five or six inn guards from elsewhere, combined with the previous five or six guards, surrounding Yang Xiao and his friends.

Yang Xiao sat at the table, picked up his teapot, shook it, found it empty, then said to the waitress:

”Hey, Miss, bring me another pot of tea.”

The waitress rolled her eyes at Yang Xiao and said:

”Want tea? Go drink urine!”

Yang Xiao: ”...”

The onlookers burst into laughter.

Yang Xiao smiled bitterly and shook his head, his first impression of the waitress was good, yet didn’t expect her to be a green tea bitch with such materialism.

The crowd was waiting to see Yang Xiao’s group make fools of themselves. Alas, this society lacks smartphones and WeChat, otherwise, people would live-stream this dine-and-dash farce.

Minister Liu swiftly walked to the Royal Inn’s communication center and said to the staff:

”Contact the Prince Manor for me and say you’re looking for the Prince.”

”Okay.”

The staff operated on a device, and a jade screen instantly displayed the Prince Manor’s scene, similar to a video call.

”Hello, this is the Royal Inn, I’m Minister Liu, I’d like to speak to the Prince.”

”Hmm? Looking for the Prince? The Prince just returned, what do you need?”

Minister Liu heard this, his heart skipped a beat, damn, the Prince really came back?

”Here’s the situation, six people at our Royal Inn restaurant ate, spending sixty-eight million Crystal Coins. They claim it’s on the Prince’s account. I’m confirming if this is true.”

The person talking to Minister Liu was just a communication officer at the Prince Manor and immediately replied:

”I don’t know about this, let me get our chief steward to speak with you.”

Moments later, a middle-aged man appeared on the jade screen of the video call, he was Long Hao, the chief steward of Long Aotian’s mansion.

”Chief Steward Long Hao, hello.”

Minister Liu said politely, the other was the chief steward of Long Aotian’s mansion, immensely powerful.

Long Hao said expressionlessly:

”What’s the matter?”

”At our Royal Inn, six people ate a meal costing sixty million Crystal Coins, claiming it’s on the Prince’s account. I’m confirming if this happened.”

”What nonsense, which nobodies are out there conning and swindling, daring to impersonate the Prince!”

Long Hao was obviously furious, damn, sixty million Crystal Coins for a meal, even I haven’t spent that much, who the hell is using the Prince’s name?

Moreover, didn’t the Prince just return to the mansion today? And three years ago, the Prince already canceled all high-end consumption place credit services in Dragon City just to prevent impersonation frauds.

The Prince had many drinking buddies in Dragon City, and everyone got used to using the Prince’s generosity for these credit consumptions.

Minister Liu heard this, felt reassured, and immediately said:

”I knew it, they are scammers, but to be cautious, I specifically asked Chief Steward Hao. Sorry for the disturbance, I know how to handle this now.”

Long Hao suddenly had a thought and said:

”Hold on, I’ll go ask the Prince. If he’s really a friend authorized by the Prince, this misunderstanding could be huge.”

Long Hao felt the situation was too coincidental. Just as the Prince returned, someone outside started using his name to rack up expenses. What if it’s true?

As the chief steward of the Prince Manor, he possessed a bit of political sensitivity.

Long Hao hurried to the hall of the Prince Manor.

Long Aotian went to the Royal Palace in the morning to report to Father, and returned by dusk to reunite with his wife and children. He was having dinner with them at the moment.

”Prince, Minister Liu from the Royal Inn contacted me just now, wanting to confirm something with you.”

”What’s the matter? I’ve just returned, why is he chasing after me?”

”It’s like this, he mentioned six people dined at the Royal Inn, racking up a bill of sixty-eight million Crystal Coins. They claimed it should be charged to your account, but you didn’t authorize it. So he wanted to check if it’s true.”

Long Aotian gasped upon hearing Yang Xiao spent sixty-eight million on a meal. Damn, really not saving me any money.

He thought about messing with Yang Xiao and denying the claim but reconsidered. If a mishap occurred and Yang Xiao got himself killed, the problem would be significant.

Although he disliked Yang Xiao, he realized Yang Xiao was still useful and couldn’t die yet.

”Go tell Minister Liu that I indeed authorized them to reside at the Royal Inn, and all expenses should be charged to my account.”

”Yes, Prince, I’ll reply immediately.”

Long Hao was curious about who could casually spend sixty-eight million Crystal Coins on a single meal.

However, Long Hao held back from asking. He knew the Eldest Prince’s temper, where questions were unwelcome; execution was what mattered.

Long Hao quickly reached the communication room dedicated to the Prince Manor and spoke to Minister Liu:

”I have just confirmed with our Prince. He said the person is his friend, and he authorized the stay at the Royal Inn. All the expenses should be charged to his account.”

”Ah?”

Minister Liu was startled, taking a deep breath. He didn’t expect it to be true. Fortunately, he held back earlier, or trouble would have been tremendous had the situation escalated.

The Eldest Prince is set to inherit the Emperor’s legacy.

Seeing Minister Liu’s panicked expression, Long Hao, the steward, paused and asked:

”You didn’t harm the Prince’s friend, did you?”

”No, no, I wouldn’t dare. I just wanted to verify. After all, sixty-eight million Crystal Coins isn’t a small figure, and there are many scammers out there. I was worried about tarnishing the Prince’s reputation.”

”Alright, I’ve informed you. Handle it yourself and ensure you don’t offend the Eldest Prince’s friend. Otherwise, no one can save you.”

”I wouldn’t dare, I wouldn’t dare!”

Minister Liu lowered his head.

Long Hao then shut down the communication system. The screen flashed brightly before going dark.

Minister Liu wiped the cold sweat off his forehead, exclaiming internally, ”That was close!”

He must be cautious going forward. Nowadays, these wealthy individuals prefer to keep a low profile and show off quietly. If you run into trouble, you’re doomed.

In the dining room, around ten guards surrounded Yang Xiao and the others, while a group of bystanders waited in the distance, eager for a spectacle.

The young waitress looked at Yang Xiao with disdain.

The chef who served Yang Xiao earlier also came over in irritation, upon hearing Yang Xiao was dining on a freebie, and lashed out at Yang Xia.

”Damn, as the top chef of this inn, I painstakingly prepared the food, only to feed it to dogs today. You little scoundrel, pretending to be rich here, aren’t you disgusted?”

The chef felt nauseated recalling the respectful service he provided during Yang Xiao’s meal.

Minister Liu hurriedly approached.

The young waitress immediately went up to him and said:

”Minister Liu, are they scammers? Let’s catch them, give them a good beating, and sell them to the Slave Workshop...”

”Shut up, young girl, what nonsense are you spouting!”

The waitress was dumbfounded, staring at Minister Liu.

Minister Liu ignored her and went directly to Yang Xiao, bowing his head and said:

”Young Master Yang, I apologize for scaring you. It’s a misunderstanding, purely a misunderstanding. I’ve confirmed with the Eldest Prince, and he acknowledged the authorization. All your expenses will be charged to his account. It’s settled, no issues.”

”No issues? You say there are no issues, and that’s it?”

Yang Xiao sneered, glancing at Minister Liu, then sweeping his gaze over the young waitress and the chubby chef.

The chef, who had been murmuring insults at Yang Xiao, was now wide-eyed and speechless, mind blank.
