Wu dong Qian Kun: I, Lin Langtian, Refuse to be a Supporting Character

”You want me to participate in the Clan Martial Meet of the Seven Fiends Darkgolden Wu Clan?”

Upon hearing this, Lin Langtian was momentarily stunned. He immediately turned to Wu Xuan, a flash of surprise in his eyes. ”I’m not a member of the Seven Fiends Darkgolden Wu Clan. Am I even allowed to take part in your clan’s Martial Meet?”

In response to Lin Langtian’s doubt, Wu Xuan said gently, ”Rest assured, little friend Langtian. Inviting outsiders for assistance does not violate our clan’s rules. According to the rules of the Clan Martial Meet, if a branch suffers defeat for three consecutive sessions, it is allowed to request external aid—and this aid need not be from within the clan.”

”I see…” Lin Langtian nodded, then narrowed his eyes slightly. ”The challengers in the Martial Meet are probably all Wheel Realm experts. I’m only at the peak of the Death Profound Realm. Why didn’t you ask a Wheel Realm powerhouse to help instead of trusting me?”

Wu Xuan sighed. ”You may not know this, but over the years, the Lin and Fire branches have continuously suppressed our Wind branch. As a result, many who were once on good terms with us now treat us like a hot potato. They refuse to lend a hand, fearing the wrath of the Lin and Fire branches.”

”As for why I invited you—well, it was Jin Wu’s suggestion. Besides, I truly trust in your strength.”

”Oh, Jin Wu’s suggestion…” Lin Langtian turned his gaze to the nearby Jin Wu.

”It was me who recommended you to Uncle Wu. Sorry, big brother, I’ve troubled you,” Jin Wu said apologetically.

Lin Langtian smiled, clapping Jin Wu on the shoulder. ”It’s nothing. But I’m glad you trust your big brother this much.”

”Thank you, big brother.” Jin Wu took a deep breath, warmth spreading in his heart.

He knew Lin Langtian agreed to help purely because of their bond. Such brotherhood required no explanation—it was a bond forged through shared trust and loyalty.

Lin Langtian simply smiled, saying nothing more.

Although Wheel Realm experts were formidable, with Lin Langtian’s current abilities, he had a fair chance even against one. And if he could help Jin Wu, he certainly wouldn’t refuse.

”Uncle Wu, how many seats does the Wind branch need to reclaim before Jin Wu can return to the clan and save his father?” Lin Langtian suddenly asked.

”Well, the reason Jin Wu’s return is being blocked is because of the Lin and Fire branches. But if the Wind branch regains five seats, we’ll have much more influence. By then, even if the other two oppose it, it won’t matter.”

”If we can keep our remaining two seats in this Martial Meet, and I manage to win over the Mountain branch’s leader—who’s on friendly terms with me—that gives us three seats. But we’d still be short by two.”

”To rescue Wu Ju, who is imprisoned, we need to control seven out of thirteen Elder Seats. Even at our peak, the Wind branch has never achieved that.” Wu Xuan shook his head and sighed.

”Heh, everything depends on effort. How would we know if we don’t try?” Lin Langtian said quietly, his eyes narrowing.

”One step at a time. Right now, the priority is to help Jin Wu gain recognition as a member of the Seven Fiends Darkgolden Wu Clan. With his Nine Fiends Darkgolden Wu bloodline, if he matures, he will wield great power in the clan. Even the Lin and Fire branches won’t be able to ignore him. He might even challenge for the position of Clan Chief,” Wu Xuan said expectantly as he looked at Jin Wu.

As someone from the Seven Fiends Darkgolden Wu Clan, Wu Xuan knew the weight of the Nine Fiends bloodline. If it weren’t for this, the Lin and Fire branches wouldn’t have secretly incited Elder Eagle’s Nest to act treacherously.

After all, their founding ancestor was a Nine Fiends Darkgolden Wu!

”I believe in Jin Wu’s potential too,” Lin Langtian said with a faint smile.

The Nine Fiends Darkgolden Wu bloodline rivaled even the dragons. Its potential was extraordinary.

”Big brother, Uncle Wu—I won’t let you down,” Jin Wu said solemnly, pressing his lips together.

”Heh, then let’s all do our best,” Lin Langtian said with a smile, then turned to Wu Xuan. ”How much time until the Martial Meet?”

”In just a few days,” Wu Xuan replied.

”Then we shouldn’t delay. Let’s set off early,” said Lin Langtian.

”Very well, I’ll lead the way.”

Wu Xuan smiled and shot into the sky like a streak of light. Lin Langtian and the others quickly followed.

As for the affairs of the territory Jin Wu managed, he had already entrusted them to his most trusted aides. Even though they were leaving, no one would dare cause trouble with the warning of the Eagle’s Nest incident looming.

Buzz!

Above an ancient and vast land, space suddenly twisted. A spatial vortex formed, from which four figures emerged—it was Wu Xuan, Lin Langtian, Jin Wu, and Shuang Wu, traveling from the western part of the Wu Realm to the Seven Fiends Clan.

Normally, the distance was immense, but with Wu Xuan’s power, they could traverse it via spatial teleportation, saving enormous time and energy.

”Such dense elemental energy…”

As Lin Langtian stepped out of the vortex and looked around, surprise flickered in his eyes.

The elemental energy here was several times thicker than the outer Wu Realm. Training in such a place would undoubtedly yield greater results.

”Heh, this is the core area of the Wu Realm, accessible only to the Seven Fiends Clan and our trusted allies. Within thirty thousand miles, no other races are allowed,” Wu Xuan explained.

Lin Langtian narrowed his eyes. The Seven Fiends Clan clearly held vast dominion here, carving out territory like kings. Then again, as a former hegemonic clan, even in decline, their authority wasn’t to be questioned.

”Come, we still have a way to go,” Wu Xuan said, flying ahead. Lin Langtian nodded and followed.

Their journey wasn’t long. After just an hour, they delved deeper into the Wu Realm.

As they progressed, the elemental energy thickened, eventually making the very air damp—an indication of overwhelming elemental saturation.

Lin Langtian admired the scenery, then his expression shifted. He looked ahead where space began to distort—a sign of an invisible barrier separating the inner realm.

Though invisible, he could feel the presence of a terrifying formation ahead—likely the clan’s Guardian Array. Its power could be described as world-shattering.

”Hold on, I’ll open the formation,” Wu Xuan said with a smile.

He raised his palm, forming a glowing totem in the shape of a miniature Seven Fiends Darkgolden Wu. It radiated life and an imposing pressure.

Cry!

The totem let out a shrill call and shot into the invisible barrier.

Moments later, the space twisted, and a crack silently opened.

Buzz!

From within, a surge of nearly tangible energy burst forth like a released beast, accompanied by faint, howling sounds. Lin Langtian’s heart trembled at the force.

”Let’s go, into the Wu Realm.”

As they stepped through the spatial rift, Lin Langtian felt a sudden weight pulling him down ten meters—his body was being forcibly compressed.

”…What?”

He stabilized himself using his elemental energy, a look of surprise on his face.

The energy here was so thick it actually affected movement speed.

Looking up, his eyes gleamed with curiosity.

Before him stretched an endless, lush forest. Towering trees tens of thousands of meters high were etched with ancient markings.

What drew Lin Langtian’s attention was that these massive trees breathed elemental energy like living creatures.

”Big brother, those are Origin Trees—divine trees from ancient times. They can generate elemental energy. With just a little absorbed energy, they can produce vast amounts of pure energy endlessly,” Jin Wu explained.

”Origin Trees…”

Lin Langtian’s eyes gleamed with fervor. This was a real treasure.

Back in the Yuan Sect, even one Immortal Origin Tree was cherished by Tian Xuanzi and the others.

But compared to these, that tree was nothing.

And the sheer number of Origin Trees here was staggering. No wonder the Wu Realm was so abundantly charged with energy.

Above, vast alchemical rivers streaked across the sky. In the distance, the cries of Wu beasts echoed, and massive silhouettes frolicked in the rivers.

As they soared, mountain ranges flew by below, and more streaks of light approached—each emanating overwhelming pressure.

”Little friend Langtian, follow me to the clan,” Wu Xuan said as he shot ahead. Lin Langtian followed, with Jin Wu and Shuang Wu close behind.

They passed over ancient peaks, breathing with eternal life.

Led by Wu Xuan, they encountered no obstacles and soon saw towering palaces and stone towers in the distance, emanating a majestic aura.

Whoosh!

Suddenly, the sound of rushing wind came from below, and over a dozen figures flew up, stopping before Wu Xuan.

”Uncle Wu Xuan, Brother Jin Wu—you’ve returned?”

At their head was a slender young woman in a tight-fitting teal outfit that accentuated her curves. A ponytail draped over her waist to her firm hips.

She had a beautiful face, with wild and untamed eyes.

But when she looked at Jin Wu, joy lit up her features, and a hint of bashfulness appeared in her wild gaze.

Seeing this, Lin Langtian was taken aback, then smiled knowingly at Jin Wu and the girl.

So Jin Wu’s love life had progressed while he was away.

Noticing Lin Langtian’s teasing look, Jin Wu’s handsome face turned a little awkward, showing a wry smile.

”Heh, it’s you, Xiao Ling,” Wu Xuan said with a smile. He then gestured to Lin Langtian. ”This is Lin Langtian, who’s here to help our Wind branch.”

Upon hearing this, the group looked curiously at Lin Langtian. They had clearly heard much about him.

”You’re that Lin Langtian?” the teal-dressed girl called Xiao Ling looked him up and down, then pouted. ”Doesn’t seem as impressive as Brother Jin Wu said.”

”Xiao Ling, don’t be rude! My big brother’s strength is beyond your imagination!” Jin Wu snapped.

He would not tolerate anyone slandering his big brother—not even his future partner.

Xiao Ling’s expression froze. Her face showed grievance, her big eyes brimming with tears.

Seeing this, Lin Langtian sighed. ”Jin Wu, you were too harsh.”

To him, Xiao Ling was just a young girl. What she said wasn’t offensive—more likely jealousy over her place in Jin Wu’s heart.

He didn’t want to hinder Jin Wu’s love life over something trivial.

Yet Jin Wu didn’t respond. He still brooded over her words.

”Sir Langtian, it was my fault. I shouldn’t have doubted Uncle Wu Xuan and Brother Jin Wu’s judgment,” Xiao Ling apologized, realizing Lin Langtian’s importance.

Lin Langtian nodded with a smile, about to respond—when a harsh voice suddenly rang out:

”Wu Xuan, who gave you the right to bring the son of a traitor back into the clan?”
