Wu dong Qian Kun: I, Lin Langtian, Refuse to be a Supporting Character

Golden Crow Mountain Range.

In a secluded rear mountain, Lin Langtian sat cross-legged atop a large, azure-colored stone, as a majestic Yuan Power surged and churned around him. With each rhythmic breath he took, strands of Yuan Power transformed into tiny dragons, entering swiftly through his nostrils.

As the Yuan Power continually nourished his body, Lin Langtian’s aura gradually became calmer and more peaceful. Beneath this serenity, however, lay a power as boundless and profound as the endless sea.

Whoosh.

A familiar, sturdy figure descended from the distant sky, landing gracefully near Lin Langtian. Lin Langtian slowly opened his eyes and smiled, looking towards the approaching Jin Wu.

After being separated for two to three years, Jin Wu—now the ruler of the Golden Crow Territory—had noticeably matured. The traces of youthful inexperience had largely faded from his features, replaced instead by an air of dignity and quiet authority.

”Has Eagle Nest Mountain finally been settled completely?” Lin Langtian asked with a gentle smile.

Although Elder Eagle Nest had been slain, and most of the Eagle Nest Mountain forces had chosen to submit to the Golden Crow Territory, there had still been some resistance. Over the past ten days, Jin Wu swiftly and decisively crushed any hint of rebellion before it had the chance to cause trouble, ensuring that the area remained stable and secure.

Thanks to these ruthless yet efficient methods, the former Eagle Nest Mountain now fell firmly under Jin Wu’s control. With the collapse of Eagle Nest Mountain, the entirety of the western part of Wu Region came under the Golden Crow Territory’s domain, making Jin Wu the undisputed ruler of this region.

”Yes.” Jin Wu nodded and smiled gratefully. ”It was all thanks to you, big brother, for killing Elder Eagle Nest. Without him, the rest were nothing but useless fodder. Those who understood the situation quickly joined us, and those who refused... well, they had no one else to blame.”

Lin Langtian nodded slowly. Jin Wu had clearly grown into a decisive leader, capable of handling affairs with efficiency—a clear reflection of the influence Lin Langtian had on him.

”How are your injuries, brother?” Jin Wu asked, carefully observing Lin Langtian. After these days of recovery, Lin Langtian appeared much better, his previous exhaustion completely gone.

”I’ve fully recovered,” Lin Langtian replied calmly. He glanced down at his own two fingers briefly. The devastating attack he’d unleashed previously—a combination of the powers from both the Spatial and Devouring Ancestral Symbols—had truly been fearsome. Unfortunately, it also consumed an enormous amount of his strength, something he could not use frequently.

”Actually, I’m impressed with your own progress,” Lin Langtian smiled warmly at Jin Wu. ”I didn’t expect your strength to rise so rapidly, and even more impressively, that you’d establish the Golden Crow Territory and become a dominant power in this region.”

Indeed, back when they had parted, Jin Wu hadn’t even reached the Life Profound Realm. But within two or three short years, he’d caught up, now also standing at the peak of the Death Profound Realm.

Jin Wu scratched his head humbly and laughed, ”All thanks to you, brother. If you hadn’t helped me awaken the Nine Malefic Black Golden Crow bloodline, I wouldn’t have progressed so quickly. Establishing the Golden Crow Territory was simply a matter of convenience—I initially united several minor forces to deal with injustice, never imagining it would grow into something this powerful.”

”No matter how you achieved it, your current success far exceeds my expectations,” Lin Langtian said warmly, patting Jin Wu on the shoulder.

They continued chatting briefly before Lin Langtian’s expression turned serious. ”By the way, about your relationship with the Seven Malefic Black Golden Crow Clan…”

Jin Wu’s smile faded into a bitter expression. ”It’s a complicated, old story. My father was extremely talented, but arrogant and aggressive in his youth, making many enemies within the clan. Furthermore, he insisted on marrying my mother, incurring the wrath of the Kunpeng Clan and causing tremendous trouble for our entire clan. Many clan elders blame him for those events, creating significant resistance to my return.”

Lin Langtian frowned slightly, understanding the complexities Jin Wu faced. Jin Wu wanted to return to the Seven Malefic Black Golden Crow Clan, not out of desire for power, but to rescue his father, who was imprisoned deep within the clan’s most secure dungeon.

The difficulty lay not only with the clan itself but also in the fact that Jin Wu’s mother was imprisoned within the Kunpeng Clan, one of the Four Dominant Clans—a place no one could casually infiltrate.

”Do you have any plans now?” Lin Langtian asked quietly, knowing Jin Wu would surely have considered options after waiting so many years in Wu Region.

Jin Wu smiled mysteriously. ”Brother, you know me too well. There’s indeed a plan, but it needs some time to mature. I’ll share the details when the moment arrives.”

Lin Langtian nodded calmly, his gaze reassuring. ”In that case, I’ll stay here. If you ever need help, just call.”

”Thank you, brother.” Warm gratitude filled Jin Wu’s voice.

Lin Langtian smiled gently. ”We’re brothers—there’s no need for thanks.”

…

After Jin Wu left, Lin Langtian turned his attention to cultivating. While he had reached the peak of Death Profound Realm, he noticed his Mental Energy lagging behind significantly.

Typically, Lin Langtian focused heavily on Yuan Power cultivation, often neglecting Mental Energy, causing it to fall behind. Currently, his Mental Energy was only at the peak of the Lesser Celestial Symbol Master stage. To achieve balance, he needed to advance into the Grandmaster Celestial Symbol Master realm, which would equal his Yuan Power cultivation at the peak of the Death Profound Realm.

Determined, Lin Langtian closed his eyes and began his intense Mental Energy training.

His consciousness appeared within a vast, mysterious space shrouded in mist. Suddenly, two figures burst forth, violently clashing in mid-air. Both figures were identical: one expressive and lively, the other emotionless, cold, and significantly more powerful.

Bang!

The emotionless figure swiftly defeated Lin Langtian, brutally tearing apart his spiritual form. Immense pain flooded his consciousness, multiplied several times due to this special training method.

Though repeatedly destroyed, Lin Langtian’s spiritual form continuously reformed. Within this mental battlefield, death held no real consequence; yet the agonizing pain he experienced each time vastly strengthened his willpower and spiritual resilience.

”Again.”

Ignoring the torment, Lin Langtian repeatedly challenged the emotionless mirror-image of himself. Each defeat further refined his Mental Energy, gradually pushing him closer toward a breakthrough.

Days turned into weeks, and Lin Langtian endured hundreds of defeats. Yet, subtly, his endurance steadily increased with each attempt.

Finally, during his 276th attempt, after an intense and brutal exchange, both Lin Langtians struck simultaneously—his spiritual form shattering the head of the mirror-image, even as its fist pierced his heart.

Mutual destruction.

His spiritual body collapsed once more, but something had changed dramatically within him.

In the real world, inside the Golden Crow Mountain cultivation hall, Lin Langtian suddenly opened his eyes. His face was pale, drenched in sweat from the residual pain reverberating through his spirit. His breathing was heavy, his fists clenched tightly.

Despite the agony, a satisfied expression crossed his face. Over the past month, he had not left this cultivation hall, focusing exclusively on enhancing his Mental Energy through extreme, torturous training.

During this period, Jin Wu visited several times, yet wisely refrained from disturbing Lin Langtian upon sensing the powerful, fluctuating energies emanating from him.

As the month concluded, those who passed by the cultivation hall gradually felt a potent, growing Mental Energy leaking outward.

Boom!

Days later, dark clouds filled with roaring lightning suddenly appeared over the Golden Crow Mountain Range. Fierce winds howled as powerful energy surged ominously.

”This is the Wind and Lightning Tribulation... Has brother finally broken through?”

Inside the central hall, Jin Wu looked up at the rolling storm clouds, his expression filled with astonishment and excitement.
